At 5:52 AM on December 26, 1996 in Denver Colorado, Patsy Ramsey made a frantic phone call to 911. Her daughter, 6 year old JonBenét Ramsey, was missing. A ransom note for JonBenét was found by Patsy, on the back staircase inside the house. Less than eight hours after Patsy’s call, JonBenét’s body was found. While many believe the killer was someone from outside the house, there is enough evidence that point to the Ramsey’s themselves. The story of JonBenét's death is more complicated than a girl gone missing, JonBenét’s body was found in the basement of the Ramsey house by John Ramsey. The crime scene was compromised by people coming to the scene. Later, police claimed they did not search the house because the ransom note gave them no reason …show more content…
First suspect, Gary Oliva, lived a few blocks from the Ramseys. In 2000 Oliva was arrested on unrelated drug charges. When arrested a picture of JonBenét was found in his backpack that he carried. Oliva responded to the picture by saying how JonBenét’s murder touched him very deeply. He felt she was an exceptional girl whose death was an exceptional loss. He also felt the need to build a monument, a shrine, to remember this little girl. The night JonBenét died, Michael Vail, a high school friend of Oliva, received a call from him. During the call Oliva told Vail he hurt a little girl in Boulder. Records show no other girl was hurt that night in the area. Gary Oliva did not match the DNA on the scene. In 2006, 10 years after JonBenét’s death, John Mark Karr became a suspect. Karr confessed to the murder via email to Michael Tracey, a journalism professor. Tracy had emailed with Karr for four years to gain his trust. Karrs wording was similar to the wording used in the ransom note. He also used Patsys nickname “Neddie”, which he wouldn't have known. He said he was in love with JonBenét and confessed to hitting her with a flashlight. On August 16th 2008, with the help of British Intelligence, Royal Thai authorities, and US Department Of Homeland Security, Karr was found in Bangkok Thailand attempting to escape child pornography charges. Karr's DNA was …show more content…
Patsy Ramsey was a competitor when she was younger. When JonBenét was winning all these competition she was gaining a lot of attention. In the months leading up to JonBenét’s death Burke was showing signs of anger towards her. Burke was most likely jealous of JonBenét. Before JonBenét’s death Burke Ramsey had a tendency to be harsh towards her and smear feces anywhere he could. It was done in JonBenét’s bedroom and on her Christmas presents, making Burke nine years old when he did this. This type of behavior is most often exhibited in people with behavioral problems, mental illnesses, or even in abuse victims. These behaviors show Burke Ramsey was a disturbed child who may have even been
He did not mean to kill her but he did want to hurt her cause she stole the pineapple. Patsy and John heard them fighting came down the stairs and saw JonBenét on the floor and they freaked out and panicked. They couldn’t let this get out into the public cause they were an eyesore and they new that if the word of Burke killing JonBenét they knew they would lose Burke too. So patsy and John did what they had to do. Patsy wrote a ransom note put it in the stairs, John “strangled” her and made it look like someone had broken in by smashing a window and tieing JonBenét up and hid her in the basement and locked the door.
She talked about how instead of grieving, John was trying to book a flight for Atlanta for the next day. When questioned about this in an interview, John defended himself by saying that the police had asked him and his family to leave their home. Now onto the sexual abuse rumors that John was accused of. There is no evidence concluding that John actually did commit sexual acts on his six year old, but in JonBenet’s autopsy reports, signs of sexual abuse did show
She was a child beauty queen who won a lot of pageants. Patsy and John were probably focusing more of their attention on her, and Burke was jealous. Not only that, but he was living in JonBenet’s shadow, which probably did not help the situation. Burke was very reserved and was into computer technology as Judith Phillips mentions in The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey; if he was a reserved child then that means he might not have had the best social skills and maybe he was being bullied at school. All of this could have been building up, and one night just snapped.
In 2016 Burke went on Dr.Phil and explained that the reason for his silence was that he wanted a somewhat normal childhood and not to spend his life flooded by cameras and accusations. Burke and JonBenet were very close and got along very well. Burke has his own theory of what happened to his little sister and why she was murdered: Burke believes that JonBenet was killed by a phedophile who was in the auidence of one of her pageants. This theory is backed by the fact that there was DNA from an unidentified male was found at the crime scene and all over JonBenet's clothes and
JonBenet Ramsey was born on August 6th 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia to parents Patsy Ramsey and father John Ramsey, and a brother burke who was three years older than her. She attended kindergarten at High Peaks Elementary School in Boulder, Colorado. she was a child beauty pageant Queen from America who was killed in her family home at the age of 6 on December 25th 1996. her body was found in the basement 8 hours after she was reported to the police by patsy ramsy as missing. she was found with a broken skull from a hit to the head and was strangled to death with a rope that was found tied around her neck.
The JonBenet Ramsey case was a case that garnered nationwide attention. To still be unsolved to this day, shows for one, that the investigation was not conducted properly. Who could have killed the six year old beauty queen? Questions surrounding the case remain to this day, nearly 20 years after her death.
Burke states "For the last 20 years, I wanted to grow up like a normal kid, which does not include going in front of TV cameras.” I, myself find it ironic that Burke was never publicly interviewed until he was grown and officially ruled out as a potential suspect. I believe it is clear that JonBenet’s older brother was an aspect of his sisters' murder or at least knew exactly what happened the night of the murder. However, his parents tried to protect him as a young child by not allowing their son to be interviewed in the event that he would slip up and say something that could put the whole family under investigation. The article and interview used pathos by appealing to the viewer's emotions as Burke Ramsey was explaining and revisiting the thoughts of his sister's death.
While there are many theories on who killed JonBenet Ramsey, ultimately the evidence points to someone in the family being JonBenet’s killer, including Burke Ramsey due to his history of being violent, Patsy Ramsey because of the evidence pointing to her, and there is no evidence of a
The note was written by someone who claimed to have kidnapped their daughter. Since it was the day after Christmas, Bolder Police Force was understaffed. The mistakes that these police officers made is the main reason why JonBenet’s murder is unsolved. Law enforcement and friends drifted in and out of the home all day. John Ramsey says Linda Arndt, one of the main detectives, told him to search the home from top to bottom to see if there was anything suspicious.
The only people that knew about that room were the Ramsey family. Along with this, John Ramsey, the father, was the one to find the body, right after the police searched the house for hours. The police never knew this room existed until after John found the body. Burke was also said to have a big history of anger issues. More examination led to finding stun gun marks and Burke’s DNA on JonBenet’s body.
John and Patsy Ramsey were the first suspects dealing with their daughter’s case. Family and friends would always observe the two and found it suspicious how they would treat their daughter different from their son. Patsy would always treat her daughter very different from their son burke, it was known that she had got recently made at JonBenet for wetting her bed, this could’ve caused very bad triggering for her which could’ve led to the mysterious mystery of JonBenet and may have left her shocked after she realized what happens. Next would be Burke Ramsey her own brother. It was known by a friend that Burke had once hit JonBenet on the head with a baseball bat because she made him upset which caused a scar on her face, and it wasn’t his first time hurting JonBenet.
Something that is not used as evidence is that JonBenet had gone to the doctor over 30 times because of a yeast infection and vaginal problems. A 5-year old child had vaginal problems. That’s not normal unless there is someone sexually abusing her. There are many theories saying that maybe John had been sexually abusing her for a while and one day it went further than he would have liked. He accidentally killed her, since Patsy loved him very much, they helped each other out.
In August, 2016 former police chief Mark Beckner held an AMA,ask me anything, on Reddit. Beckner was asked questions about the Ramsey case and was unaware that his answers were available to the world. The ask me anything session on Reddit sparked the reopening of the case. JonBenet was the daughter of Jhon and Patsy Ramsey. Patsy Ramsey also had her spot as a beauty queen.
When I looked at the handwriting of the ransom note and the handwriting of Patsy, there are some similarities, within the letters. Any individual can make their handwriting look sloppy, but there will always be similarities. I believe Patsy could have been irritated by something that JonBent could have possibly done, which caused Patsy to hit JonBent with a forceful object that could have caused serious brain damage. Instead of taking JonBent to the hospital she decide to stage a crime sense of a kidnap and murder instead. If Patsy did murder her daughter she got away with the
JonBenet Ramsey was a 6-year-old beauty queen. On December 26, 1996 around 5:45am JonBenet’s mother, Patsy Ramsey, discovered a two page and a half note sitting on the steps inside the house after noticing that JonBenet wasn’t in her bed. The ransom note stated that they had their daughter held hostage, and the only way to get her back is if they give them $118,000. When the police showed up they started to investigate the whole house. By 1:00pm the detectives and investigators still haven't found any evidence.
