Leadership comes in all shapes and sizes and there are many opinions on what makes a good leader. In my opinion, leadership is defined as a person who inspires others to act in a manner that is systematic of success. This success can be in many different forms such as personal success, team based success, mission success, etc. Leadership comes from people who truly inspire, and do not simply manage. The principles of good leadership according to different leaders may vary, but are often centered on character traits which too can vary. Additionally, I have seen leaders who think they are managers who are truly leaders. Managers manage things. Leaders lead people. Numerous people have had an impact on my personal leadership philosophy both good and bad. Bad leaders seem to somehow get others to do things but it is not from a personal power that convinces people to follow them. It can be from fear, understanding the art of persuasion, or even simply positional power. There is one adjective that a leader needs to have in order for others to be interested in what it is they have to say and that is relatability. No one wants to listen to someone who doesn’t relate to how they feel at all. An example of a leader in my life would be my pastor. If every Sunday at church we had a pastor claiming to have never been through struggles with a perfect life no one would want to hear what he had to say because they cannot relate; no one is perfect. By empowering subordinates and other leaders to be able to implement decisions that are very crucial for leaders to develop and enhance future leaders in the organization. For me as a leader, I will always welcome any opportunity that would enable my team to work collaboratively with your peers and your subordinates throughout the organization. My current assignment as Command Language Program Manager, I have a duty and responsibilities of all aspects of development, implementing, and managing of the Command Language Program.

Leadership in and of itself, is the ability to guide others, take responsibility, and share a vision that inspires and leaves others with a sense of empowerment. Evidently, it takes an exceptional leader to exhibit exceptional leadership skills. Additionally, the most prominent act that all adequate leaders demonstrate is that they are steadily engaged in enhancing their leadership skills. There have been various magnificent leaders throughout history, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Sojourner Truth, Nelson Mandela, and Eleanor Roosevelt.
1. My philosophy of leadership is about collaboration and teamwork. Respecting and treating everyone the same, is key to supporting a good team atmosphere. I believe when a leader puts effort and care into assisting others, then their peers and followers will naturally want to support them. It is also important for a leader to recognize, that advocacy must never become so important that the critical elements of leadership are neglected (e.g. policy enforcement, command support, etc...).
For a person to find his or her path in the world and to lead others effectively, one need to develop a clear vision of what she or he is aiming to accomplish and be able to communicate that vision with others to gain support. However, each person has a different vision and as a leader one’s personal vision, influence the kind of the personal leadership philosophy; he or she have. In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
A good leader would think things through and come to the best solution possible, especially if those actions will be affecting other people. Another example would be that of relationships, when dealing with other people, there are many instances in which we may be frustrated and want to leave that particular person, because of disagreements or fights. If we were to act spontaneously in those cases, every human would be alone for the rest of their lives. The proper thing to do would be to think things over, to look at every angle of the situation and act accordingly. Relationships, whether they are with a significant other or with a direct family member always take much effort.
Most importantly, I consider every idea and implement some of them. This grows the environment and my followers feel more supported. Lastly, I dedicate all of my effort into the team, which inspires the team to work harder. When the team sees me working hard, then they know that the mission matters, which motivates them to work equally hard. Overall, because my leadership philosophy focuses on the people, it fosters an environment of support, growth, encouragement, and motivation.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
My leadership philosophy is one driven by emotion. I want to be the leader that makes people feel. I want them to feel as though we are all part of a family and that they are cared about. I want to show them that I not only care about our job at hand but care about them personally; where their physical and mental health is always as important as reaching any goal.
This is because I believe a good leader is not defined by any set number of characteristics, but by the views of those he leads – no matter how many. At the end of the day, why would anyone want to be a leader?
