For many majors at SCAD, Drawing 101 is a required class to take, as nearly all of visual art requires the hand to create convincing drawings to represent a vision, real or imaginary. My current major, animation, a field of study to which drawing is incredibly important. Drawing 101 not only teaches aspiring animators important technique and skills, but also gives students time to practice them. Each and every project and assignment is important to animation. First, I learned was how to draw faces in a couple of unusual ways: blind contour and continuous contour. Before working on these drawings, I knew it would be tough to create a realistic contour drawing. The key to success with these odd couple of drawing methods is to focus on the …show more content…
It taught how the variation of line weight emphasizes aspects of the figure. When you know how to vary lines, you can capture the feeling of your subject much better. Animators absolutely need to know how to convey the feeling of their subject, as it is their job to bring the subject to life in an animated form as strongly as possible. Drawing the plaster busts is another aspect of the class that is useful in animation. This project required another kind of line drawing with shading. Learning how to incorporate geometry and shading into a drawing is a vital part of creating a realistic world, and while not all types of animation require every object to be shaded, it is important to think about how light hits objects and the effect it can have on the overall look of a scene. Light was explored even more in-depth in the next project, which was made with charcoal on black paper. Finally, color was incorporated into the analogous and landscape drawings. While not all animation majors are fond of pastel, these projects were important in expanding knowledge of color. The analogous color drawing introduced texture and reflective light into drawings to add a more three-dimensional, and more realistic, feeling to the drawing. For some types of animators, texture is important in designing a world that feels real and
Not expecting to be noticed so quickly, Thomas gave orders to lower the sails to half-mast, as the smaller boat neared them. The CSS Drewry was a gunboat out of Fort Marion, formerly Castillo de San Marcos, according to the Captain, which was located on the northern shore of Matanzas Bay at St. Augustine. The Drewry was to escort Thomas’ ship in for a meeting with an important man on an important mission was what they told him. When they stopped him, Thomas told them that he planned to stop anyway, that he was dropping off a few supplies (which was not true, but he figured it would get him in good with those in charge) and taking on fresh water. He figured he could spare a few cases of rum and a bushel or three of fruits for the fort.
I chose to write about Jim Germaux’s Parallel Play because it evokes beauty in a unique way using pattern, line, and color Germaux’s Parallel Play exemplifies beauty through eye-catching pattern. Each piece of this collection uses an arrangement of circles in a manner that is organized and yet spontaneous. The location of each circle is unpredictable, but the way the Germaux arranges the circles in his painting, side-by-side in no particular order, creates a sense of movement and playfulness that is attractive to the viewer’s eye. The viewer is drawn in by the mass quantity of these circles and is then challenged to look upon the spontaneity of the arrangement, and to try to find familiar patterns within. Germaux is making the viewer move his or her eyes over the circle pattern in several directions creating a commotion that pulls the viewer into the composition in such an effective way that is beautiful.
1- Talking about inspirations, I need to divide into three different categories: concept, style, and material. The idea for this series of drawings comes from human life cycle and I visualize it based on my personal surreal imagination. The human 's life cycle always start by a zygote, then the zygote becomes an embryo, after born there are two main stages, first is before adulthood when there are many conflicts and variances that shape the personality, another stage is the adulthood when the character is totally formed and all those conflicts become part of the personality. During the whole cycle, changes are needed for the evolution. I decided to show these changes with limbs and their different gestures which express diverse feelings.
He then took the time to carefully draw what each item looked like. He tried to go into detail on each drawing to give the reader a sense of really being there
The use of line drastically changes the way Dai Jin of Sesshu portray their ideals and skill. In Dai Jin’s painting, his mastery of painting is clearly evident in his use of line quality. He uses jagged lines for the rocks, dotted lines for foliage, and shading, thick lines for darker areas, ink wash for the inside of the cave and other areas for shading, and dropped-in ink for the trees. He uses his skillful painting abilities to enhance the realism of the scene, to fully illustrate the realness of the story. Dai Jin isn’t just focused on the scene, however, and instead uses smooth, elegant, lines to outline Bodhidharma's body, and very curvy nervous lines for Huike’s body and clothes.
Taking art 1301 was one of the best decisions in my life, because I learned the true meaning of art, history plays a important part in art and there is art everywhere. I discovered that the art museum had so many great paintings and some of the artwork comes from the old times, like during the world war I and II , I did not know the museum would have amazing historical artwork. One thing I noticed is that some artist have created the same type of artwork they use one skill for all their paintings or statue for example Fred Wilson created the “ Were ancient Egyptians black, white,or brown” his artwork has the same faces created five time, but the only difference is the color of the statue. He used the same technics, which makes his art
The 1950s saw the full development of a design movement that is apparently the most critical visual design style of the twentieth century as far as its sweeping effect, its life span, and its scope of pragmatic applications is concerned. The style started in Switzerland and Germany and is often alluded to as Swiss Style, yet it is formally known as the International Typographic Style. Its strength in numerous territories of graphic design covers a twenty-year period from the early 1950s to the late 60s, yet it remains impactful up till the recent times. As Richard Hollis puts forward in his book “Swiss Graphic Design: The Origins and Growth of an International Style, 1920-1965”, the Swiss Style has vital elements that are widespread throughout
Kahlo used very thin lines to define both the Fridas and aortic valve. This paing had a strong use of implied lines, Frida used implied lines to define the movement and blood flow between the two hearts. She also used them to put influence on the clothing to give them a realistic feel. I didn't see as many shapes as I did line composition. The few shapes I came across throughout the image was an oval and rectangle.
They lead your eyes to the large boat, onward to the bottom, where there are animals boarding it. The lines are also very sharp. They outline the shapes in the painting, giving the shapes a clear border. The next element is shape. The shapes are at very sharp angles.
During my job shadow with Ms. Eileen Chalupa on Doane’s Campus I learned how to be creative, come up with my own style of graphic designing, and most importantly to never give up or lose hope on a project that someone has asked for. Her job is the head graphic designer at Doane University. Some questions that I asked her during the job shadow were what are some positive aspects and negative aspects of working as a graphic designer, are the hours flexible for the job and another question I asked was what training did she do to get ready for this type of work and if it required any type of education to complete. One of the reasons she chose this career was because her mother went through the desktop publishing program at Southeast Community
Animation refers to the creation of the sequence of images drawn, painted, or produced by other artistic methods that change over time portray the illusion of motion. Animators are artists who specialize in the creation of animation. Animation has 2D and 3D, for 2 dimensional figures are created or edited on the computer using 2D bitmap graphics or created and edited using 2D vector graphics. This includes automated computerized versions of traditional animation techniques, for 3 dimensional is digitally modeled and manipulated by an animator. The animator usually starts by creating a 3D polygon mesh to manipulate.
Graphic Design has always been an ever evolving and changing field. Graphic design-like activities can be found throughout history like the ancient cave paintings or the manuscript of the Middle Ages. As the true purpose of graphic design is to communicate, technology has since made this process more effective, extending the reach and spread of information. This allows graphic design to have a higher level of impact that cannot be achieved without the use of technology.
The use of lighting and filters for colours is not just used for simple illumination but it is more meaningful. It helps to understand the characters and focus our attention on certain objects and actions. The colour can be used as a motif, an occurring manifestation in which the shades themselves become an important part of the story, reflecting emotions, altering situations and underlining scenes. (Bordwell, Thompson and Smith, n.d.)
“Arts education is critical for helping students develop creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities” (Chernin). The arts can help people succeed. Art is a way that people can express themselves and share their beliefs. Arts in education can help people focus and attend. Fine arts are important because they make a huge impact on kids education, they make an impact on how people pursue their life careers, and it also helps with stress and anxiety.
