Graphic Design has always been an ever evolving and changing field. Graphic design-like activities can be found throughout history like the ancient cave paintings or the manuscript of the Middle Ages. As the true purpose of graphic design is to communicate, technology has since made this process more effective, extending the reach and spread of information. This allows graphic design to have a higher level of impact that cannot be achieved without the use of technology.
Since IBM introduced the first personal computer in 1981 and following with Apple introducing the first Macintosh in 1984, graphic design has had huge advances for the better and has since become an ally and tool for modern-day designers. While in the old days a designer would have to use the time consuming “cut and paste” method to create layouts, now they can simply click and drag elements around in Adobe Indesign. Typography has evolved from the days when Johannes Guternberg introduced the mechanical movable type to the point where, in the present day designers can just simple kern or track type with the push of a mouse button. The versatility in digital products like the Adobe Creative Suite allows the designer to be more experimental in their creation and thus pushing boundaries on what can be created.

In conclusion, not only does she effectively contribute to the conversation regarding the decline of creativity and why it happens, but through her efficient usage of ethos, logos, pathos, and kairos, Manoush Zomorodi gives a thoroughly convincing presentation. Weaving these together creates a favorable argument for why taking time to set aside electronic devices boosts creativity. Overall, Zomorodi created a compelling argument that not only convinces her intended audience, but also those who may have initially disagreed with her.
In life some feel the need to prove something to others. That they are better, stronger, or even more intelligent. Whatever the case may be people will go through extreme measures to prove themselves. But who do we really need to prove anything to? Is it our parents?
When I out grew my Shetland pony, my mother and I decided it was time to start looking for a horse for me to continue my riding career on. We had no idea at that time, that horse would be a starving, broke to only the basics, and a recent failure of a pre-purchase veterinarian exam, due to an injury to his fetlock. When we went to meet Hank, who was eventually renamed to Juble, I knew immediately that he was the horse for me, my mom wasn’t as convinced. Much like myself, my mom has a huge heart for animals, especially the ones in harmful environments, which means after minimal begging, she agreed to purchase Juble. This began the long process of helping him put on more weight, helping his swollen fetlock heal, and gaining his trust.
This year’s StayClassy fundraising initiative was record-setting. The State Fundraising initiative was able to raise $111,211 surpassing its goal and breaking records. This was primarily due to matching grants and strong dedication from JSA student leaders. It was a grassroots effort with many individual contributions under $50. Next year, I hope to further improve the State Fundraising initiative on StayClassy and set new records.
