Washington's administration contributed to the victory of the American Revolution since his victories at Trenton and Princeton made further men join the fight for independence. Georgia Washington was defeated in New York because Britain had more manpower with 45,000 soldiers and the America's 28,000. The morale of the Patriots was small because of the defeat. George Washington's victory at Trenton and Princeton gave much more power of New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the Western, which helped boost the morale of the army. Washington was pulling two victories after those failures, it gave them faith again, maintaining to bring in new soldiers.

The troops helped build barriers and fences around the town and reinforced them on the north and south borders. They also staged four guard posts north of Trenton, one for each side of the two roads. They also set up pathways through the woods so that runners could easily get from the guard posts to the town, to inform them of any intruders on their way. As a result General Washington met much resistance as he and his Soldiers tried to advance on Trenton. His men that tried to cross the river at Trenton Ferry never made it, so if the Hessians had to retreat, they had a route to travel.

Washington 's greatest victory, however, came during the brutal winter of 1776-7 at Valley Forge. The battle began on December 25, 1776, and ended on December 26, 1776. General Washington and his troops traveled through the snow and icy waters. They didn’t have the right clothes and the soldiers didn’t have any shoes. General Cadwalader planned a diversionary attack from the south. The night before of the attack,the Hessians leader, Rahl was eating dinner and somebody brought information that Americans were coming.

This is when the revolutionary war began. Washington with his military experience became the general of the continental army. Although Washington lost most wars he motivated his men. His most remembered battle is the battle of Trenton in which he ambushed the Hessians and took over a British camp.

The Hessians had been hired while Washington trailed General Howe before the Battle of new York. It was them that overwhelmed the Patriots in the Siege on Fort Washington. As much as the Hessians seemed to be of help to the British, it also sometimes hindered them, such as the Battle of Trenton, where the Hessians were too blinded by their celebration of Christmas from the night before that it was hard for them to fight the Patriots. Some Hessians didn’t even like being in the Hessian army, and chose to desert them and the british to run off and settle in America, although it didn’t work out, as most of them turned into criminals. But, some of them went on to actually help the Patriots in winning the War against the British.

The British commander General Sir William Howe ordered his men to seize and to start taking shelter in winter quarters. If the British were to advance the outcome of the war could of ended up very bad for the American forces. The Americans did not have the proper equipment for the winter, with most men still in their summer uniforms and many did not have shoes to wear. The Americans were very reluctant considering they were outnumbered and most importantly not ready to fight in a war in the winter. With the delay from the British army Washington started to plan his attack on Trenton.

The Union Army attack the Confederate Army supply routes making it difficult for them. General Hooker designed a plan to attack General Lee forces and have them retreat. The Union plan was sneak up on the opposite side of where is unite was engaging were engaging the Confederate Army. The Union was hoping that engagement would keep the leadership of Confederate focus on one location. Gen Hook felt his plan was perfect.

Our leader, Washington, had been planning a surprise attack, that would take place on Christmas day. This was later called the Battle of Trenton. He did this because he wanted to catch the British by surprise. His plan worked. He led us across a river on Christmas Eve and no one was expecting our presence.

The siege of Yorktown was a joint effort between the Continental Army and the French navy. General George Washington devised the strategy after spotting an opportunity to trap and defeat the British army led by General Lord Cornwallis. Washington and his army marched from New York to Virginia, joined by French forces led by General Rochambeau, to surround Cornwallis and his army in Yorktown. Admiral de Grasse's French navy arrived with reinforcements and supplies and successfully blocked the British sea escape. Both sides exchanged fire and suffered heavy casualties during the siege, which lasted several weeks.

It was nearing 8 am when the battle finally broke out, completely catching the Hessians off-guard. Groggy, hung-over Hessians soon began to fight back but the American soldiers swiftly took them down, or captured them prisoner. It wasn’t long before the Hessians laid down their swords and surrendered to the Patriots. It’s important to remember “The fighting lasted only an hour and a half” (McDonough), because to think that Washington and his army could pull this amazing success off in only 90 minutes it truly outstanding. Also, the fact that “[The Patriot] loss is very trifling indeed, only two officers and one or two privates wounded” (Report on the Battles of Trenton and Princeton) is absolutely amazing that our army was able to have so much success and take down an entire Hessian army, and only suffering two casualties.

The Battle of Valley Forge was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. Although no actual military battle was waged here, George Washington’s Continental Army faced some physical and mental battles of their own in this Pennsylvania town. It was here at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania where the Continental Army Soldiers of the Revolutionary War chose to go after being defeated in the Battle of Germantown in October 1777. During this winter, Washington’s troops came to this encampment to recuperate and train for future battles with the British.

As dawn approached, he and his army would attack Trenton with all the force that they had at the time. The author stated that Washington had thought the battle was already lost because they would lose the element of surprise as the weather slowed them down which was pushing them into the daylight. According to Fischer, Washington and his army arrived to Trenton at around seven-thirty in the morning. They succeeded in using the element of surprise and the weather helped the colonial army and they took Trenton.
