Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, I always had a dream of joining the military. Though it was a choice, I still did not have any inside information of what it would be like, and the requirements and specifics of the Army. It wasn't until 2005 when I decided to join the United States Army that all my concerns and questions were answered by a recruit; and I was guided through the whole process to enter and prep for the Army. If it was not for the confidences and motivation of my recruiter back in 2005, I might have not made my leap and probably would not be in this uniform today. Becoming a member of the United States Army recruiting team means having a physical and mental toughness in order to perform efficiently. It is the dedication …show more content…
I believe that our fighting forces need strong minded individuals who are driven and determined to always strive for the Army to stay relevant and strong. Consequently, the recruiter duty is to recruit those who are passionate with a strong desire and pride to serve the nation. A sense of pride in which does not feel like you are doing a job, but honor to be in the Army’s uniform. As a combat veteran who have deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times, I have the capability due to taught persistence, determination, organization and built stamina from past experiences, to be an admirable recruiter. Being out in combat have shown me the kind of heart within a person the Army need, the kind of fight within an individual that the army need, and the characteristics in which makes up a US Army personnel. Along with being deployed some of my learned skills were acquired when I was assigned as a Fury FSC retention NCO two years ago, and my job was to educate soldiers about what they qualified for and other entitlements. Even though the soldier already knew the skills needed in the Army and had knowledge of the Army, I still had to persuade individuals to why they should reenlist. This required some craftiness on my part as some of these soldiers needed to hear something that they haven't heard
In every soldier 's heart, it’s just as cold and sad as the snow around them. General George Washington took thousands of men across the Delaware River to Valley Forge which was eighteen miles from Philadelphia, in which the men wait. But Washington needs men to fight. And winter is coming brutal and with no mercy, are you going to stay and fight? Or leave to go back to a normal life?
As an American I feel that ALL things are possible if you Believe , And for that I Believe that America is not just MY home, but OURS Veterans, Veterans are the men and women who have fought and served in the army in order to honor and protect our country. As these individuals boldly practiced their beliefs in freedom, they inadvertently rewrote history, and we as Americans, honor these patriots who were willing to give the ultimate sacrifice. Veterans Day is the day that we set aside to honor those who served our country. Being a member of the United States Army is a job that must be upheld by the men and women who chose to answer the call of duty. All that you have learned in Basic Training, Advanced Individual Training, and Permit
The first time I heard about Americorps, it was my first year as a transfer student at Georgia State University. I had no idea of what the program was and what it consist of. The moment I search and read about the program without doubt I wanted to be a part of. The reason why I would like to join Americorps program because of the purpose it exhibits. Americorps represents the theory of idealism.
Propaganda posters during World War II were used to address issues to citizens. In the article “History as Historical Documents”, by Rodney F. Allen, it was stated a good poster is one that communicates a clear message and draws the attention of the viewer (1). These posters were able to influence a lot of citizens to make sacrifices and decisions to help the troops while addressing controversial topics. One of the well-known propaganda posters was “We Can Do It”, with Rosie the Riveter. Rosie the Riveter was a strong and competent factory worker in jeans and a bandanna and urged women to fill jobs that men had to leave for the war (Olsen).
Joining the war the war can be one of the scariest things to happen to someone and can be really discouraging. During war time getting drafted is a life changing thing. “ I remember a sound in my head. It wasn't thinking, just a silent howl. ”(O'Brien, p.26)
For me to be in the National Guard I have to take a test. On that test the better I do the more jobs that are open for me. Most of that test is Math so I have to study more. Then when I get the job have to do what I need to do to get this money.
In Starship Troopers, Robert A. Heinlein shows military strategy at its peak as well as having one of the most efficient militaries. With the rule of a person must earn their citizenship (voting) being in place, a student had stated “It's a reward. Something the federation gives you for federal service”. It shows the relationship of the military and government known as formalized military junia. With this in mind, most people in the book join the military with the mentality of what's best for their country “...he places the welfare of the group ahead of personal advantage.”
State Trooper “Being a good police officer is one of the most difficult ,dangerous, idealistic jobs in the world” (“Thomas Hauser Quotes”). This quote said by Thomas Hauser praises the values of how hard being a police officer is. One career that is worth pursuing is becoming a state trooper. A state trooper job consists of responding to emergencies, traffic stops, and arresting criminals. They also do search warrants, search crime scenes and many more.
As I am getting ready to begin my college years, my experience in America is getting richer every day. I have realized how much opportunities I have being an American citizen and living in this part of the world compared to the life i lived in Togo and I intend to make the most of it. I’m working toward my goals and one of them is to join the military. I always have the desire of serving people and I believe serving in the Military is one way to show my gratitude to my new country and its
Commitment, dedication, and motivation are the three most important values when joining the military. Background checks and months of training are required to ensure that the best is selected to stand strong as one for the best interest of all. Regardless of the requisites, hundreds of individuals devote their time to become part of the US military, unfortunately it is not meant for everyone. Even though the system tries to ensure that only the strong get chosen, it has been proven to be flawed. For example, ex-military personal, like Robert (Bowe) Bergdahl, have left base camps or leaked information to express their feelings towards the military.
The praises that you receive shouldn’t be based on the mere fact that you join but maybe for those who actually wants to serve and protect. In contrast, he says “Make that choice without looking back to see the cheering faces of those who tell you your duty is to do what they are not doing for purposes you may not know nor share” (Gillman 680). None the less, the author let the reader know that these young men and women risk their own lives for purposes which may not be of any value to themselves or the country. As a result, those purposes doesn’t deserve the praises that are
I don’t really enjoy picking fights, or committing any acts of violence. Truthfully, if I got into any type of conflict, my lanky body would probably give up on me halfway. That’s what my wife told me after I said I was going to be joining the US armed forces. “Mark, are you an idiot? You can’t even walk without limping, how will you serve our country?!”
Army Reserve. I wondered if I was the type of person who should join the organization which demands absolute best performance from its members. I constantly reminded myself of the short training period -- only 9 weeks for the initial portion – and I was unable to do a single proper push-up. I ultimately made the decision to join on the idea that I would give it the absolute best effort I possibly could. Even if I didn’t successfully make it through, I could always be proud of my attempt, and I would be healthier for it.
Despite it obvious advantages, some opponents claim that conscription should not be mandatory because serving in the military can sharply change a man 's identity in ways that can hurt his social ties; it can influence on his relation to family, companions, and coworkers. It may be true that military has impact on the person 's personality, makes little bit tough to deal with him. However, people should realize the fact that dealing with the hard days and wars need brave men that have the ability to face these issues strictly, with courage and without fear. Beside, recruitment period is for a limited time; not exceeding three years term, and after this period expires, the recruiter returns to his social life and relations, also gradually resume his normal attitude in dealing with others. Moreover, it is important to remember that the intent of recruiting is to prepare men psychologically and physically for any
In Van Maanen’s model of socialization, he makes three assumptions about people in a state of transition (recruits). First, that “they are in an anxiety-producing situation…and are motivated to reduce this anxiety by learning the functional and social requirements of their new roles as quickly as possible.” (Van Maanen,1978, p. 20). His second assumption is that learning does not occur in a vacuum, and that recruits will seek out info from any source available to them, be it a co-worker, superior, subordinate, or other source(Van Maanen, 1978). Finally, “the stability and productivity of any organization depend in large measure on the way newcomers to various organizational positions come to carry out their tasks(Van Maanen,1978, p. 20).
