Picking to attend a Community college for me is the best choice that I picked for my education. Community colleges provide a great service to students in many more ways other than just education. They help students who are unsure what they want to do or are unable to attend a four year university. Community Colleges also provide continuing education even after they have gotten a degree and a job. The idea of community colleges to me is a place to get a good education and explore different options, and meet some great people. On the web site of the American Association of Community Colleges it says, “The mission of the community college is to provide education for individuals, many of whom are adults, in its service region”. When I first graduated high school I thought I wanted to be a pilot to fly airplanes, so I signed up to attend classes at Kishwaukee College located in DeKalb. ECC helped me sing up for classes at an in district rate because Elgin could not offer the courses that I wanted to me. During the first semester I found out that I did not want to become a pilot anymore and that I would be happier if I changed and focused on computer science. The advisors helped me schedule classes back at ECC for computer science then next semester. During the last year and a half at ECC I have been able to start fulfilling my education goals by getting a good education and find out what I want to go to college for. The college has helped me in many ways not only with my education. One example of this is I have been able to work the whole time that I have been attending classes. This allowed me to save enough money that now when I transfer to NIU in January with my associates degree, I will be able to pay for it in full without taking out student loans. This was one of my fears be for going into college was that I was going to be in debt after. ECC has helped my accomplish at least two of my goals while I was here, get a good education and not have to take out a student loan. The college has also giving me the opportunity to meet some of my best friends and mentors while in attendants

Community College is a new beginning for everyone that enrolls. The access to college allows them to broaden their minds, discover their passions, and push themselves forward. Community college opens doors for their students that they would never have believed that they were there before. It gives the students a chance to explore and see what they are truly wanting to do with their lives. Addison writes, “Just follow any one of the 1,655 road signs, and pop your head inside - yes, they let anyone in – and there you will find discoveries of a first independent film, a first independent thought, a first independent study.
Community colleges have provided people with a way for a quality education at a cheaper cost, a diverse community, and the learning of more practical
When college searching, most prospective students dream of attending a large, beautiful campus; they do not take into consideration how much money their dream school cost. This simple mistakes leads to thousands of adults drowning in college loans years after earning their degree. Attending a community college easily solves the problem by helping students who want to reach their goal of earning a degree without the outrageous cost of universities. Junior colleges are more economical than universities because they are more convenient, less expensive, and less demanding.
In the essay “Two Years Are Better than Four” written by Liz Addison, the main purpose of the essay is to get the point across to the readers that community colleges are very sensible and useful for the public. Addison argues that community colleges are a great way for anyone to begin somewhere and to give anyone a starting point. Community colleges will take anyone who has graduated from high school and is wanting to advance in there schooling, but not sure in what field. Community colleges allow students to have more financial freedom and still offer a quality higher education. Addison explains her reasoning to why she believes in the importance of community colleges because of her personal experiences with two different community colleges
Community college is accessible to everyone who wants to go to college for a better price than what a 4-year university might cost. Addison corroborates this idea by saying, “The community colleges of America cover this country college by college and community by community. They offer a network of affordable future, of accessible hope, and an option to dream.” The essence of Addison’s argument is that students don’t have to spend a small fortune to have a future, it can be affordable, and it is within reach. Community college can be a good choice for those who are afraid to spend a lot of money just to have an education.
A community college is an inexpensive proposition that enables one to kick start ones career; it helps one to carry forward credits to the graduate colleges; very importantly, it enables one to do work and obtain education in a manner that is very job centric. Since the community colleges place a lot of emphasis on job oriented learning, so it goes without saying that pass outs or graduates from a community college have an advantage as far as the jobs are concerned. Philosophy of the community college that Addison makes it precise and straight to the point that it’s an amazing stepping stone for everyone. For the less privilege, for the people who do not know what career path to choose, and for those who refuse to drop one thousand dollars on just one class. Though for some reason that community colleges are not as popular as universities. Any student or any who want to become a student can walk into a community college and literally
College isn’t just a way to get an education, its not just learning a skill to get a better job, or make more money, its a place for the mind to grow, for you to grow as a person. Most colleges today only focus on teaching the material about the subject at hand, but not giving the students skills for the real world. A liberal arts college benefits students in more ways than an ordinary college, by providing the students with moral values, strengthening their faith, and bringing a sense of God being a part of everything we do. In todays society teachers are taught to teach the materials students need to excel/pass the course, lacking the morality of it all.
College Isn 't The Only Answer If anyone has ever went to high school, then they have heard about college. Everyone has a different point of view on the idea of college. Part of it depends on how someone was raised.
Advantages of Community Colleges Many advantages, students can get by attending community colleges. Saving money is the first benefit of attending a community college. Instead of spending thousands of dollars to pay tuition fees for universities for the first two years, community colleges allow students to achieve similar level of academic study with much lower tuition fees than universities. Moreover, community colleges are located near to the counties that help save money; transportation cost will be low and students may live with their families. Second advantage of enrolling in a community college is that community colleges represent a proper environment for all students.
The college experience means a great deal of things to a variety of people. Personally, I hope to attend a university that intertwines my personal love for learning and academic development with an environment that stresses the importance of my community. My attentions have always, even from early youth, been geared more towards academics and athletics, and pushing myself to succeed in both. I value greatly the time I have in class to experiment and learn with my peers and teachers, as well as the opportunity to devote my time to subjects that interest me personally. As for the community aspect of my life, I have learned over time, through my parents, my basketball team, and my schools, that a strong and supportive community is invaluable
My experience in Madison was incredibly eye opening. I loved the environment that the campus offered, and the opportunities that were at my disposal there. Ever since, I hoped that I would be able to return to UW-Madison, not just for a week, but for four years. From that week on, I knew that I wanted to apply to UW-Madison. I’ve visited many colleges since, but none of the colleges elicited as much excitement as my visit to UW-Madison.
A college education is very important for me to obtain the career I want. College will provide me the knowledge and practice I need to be successful.
