Never in my life have I been asked this question but after reading the first week’s lectures, it is becoming clear to me. Liberty means I am not a slave, I am free. Liberty means I can make my own decisions, express my points of view, beliefs and opinion. My definition of slavery is simply put as: personal property or belonging to someone else. Liberty means I am not a slave of the government and I control my destiny. How can I be happy when I am under someone else’s control? I want to act and express myself as I wish, not having someone controlling my emotions. Liberty to me means: I am free from the government’s power and limitations and I have the freedom to become whatever I want to. I have the right to own a weapon, a house, or a car. I also can start my business. I am free to come and go anywhere I please. Of course there are laws I have to abide by when I am coming and going. For example, if I am traveling by cruise ship or taking a flight to another country, I will need a passport. Liberty does not mean I can break the law and not be prosecuted. …show more content…
For example: I work a twelve-hour shift and I can stay late if I want to. Or when I wake up in the morning, I can choose the polo uniform with the slacks or I can wear the State uniform. However some liberties have become extinct. Prayer in the schools is one example. I remember just like it was yesterday, my first day in kindergarten class. The teacher asked everyone in the class to stand up and she led the class in prayer. Now you cannot say a prayer in school anymore. In other countries women cannot show their face or choose who they want to marry. I am happily married and I couldn’t imagine someone choosing who I am going to marry. I have the right to choose who I want to
Freedom is a type of living that everyone in the world would appreciate having. Some people live in a communist country or a country where freedom do not exist and everything is controlled by the government. With many rules and regulations proposed by the government, people feel that it takes away from their freedoms. Nonetheless, America was established upon freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. People want to live this way along with protection from danger.
Liberty has the definition of the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views. This means the right to be free in a country. America had trouble with finding how liberty can be a part of the country. The fight for liberty was difficult to obtain because America had the break from Great Britain, needed to build a country from scratch, and come together as a country. America was not always a free country.
Liberty is being free of restrictions that is set on you for certain beliefs, groups. For example, in California if a frog dies during a jumping contest you can not eat it. That is a restriction has to be payed to enforce. Although it might have seemed reasonable at the time to keep competitors from other frogs in the contest , it now it can give you a chuckle when you read it.
“When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in he has no choice but to become an outlaw.” Freedom means different things to different people. For some people, it means you have the freedom to go for a walk without getting the police called on you. For some it may mean practicing the religion they choose, or where they work or live. A historical well-known example of freedom is when Rosa Parks sat in front of the bus she was asked to go to the back she refused to.

We have become accustomed to liberty and have come toexpect it. We often forget that years ago liberty was something we all wanted not something that was just simply granted to us at
Webster Dictionary defines freedom as a “political right”. To me, freedom is much more than that. Freedom gives me and the people of America the right to do anything we want; it allows us to be ourselves no matter where you come from, or who you are. Unfortunately, America has not always been this way; people of different races were treated like trash on the sidewalk. Frederick Douglass had a first-hand experience to this treatment, and he knew what it was like before America allowed everyone to actually be “free”.
Isn’t freedom suppose to mean the power to have the right to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint. But that’s not true. Freedom is precious to us because, not everyone has freedom which everyone
The meaning of liberty is the freedom to act as one chooses as long as your actions do not interfere with the freedom or well being of theirs. Liberty is very special value that settlers from other nations desired since they had never experienced anything of its kind. The ability to be self reliant or to be one’s own master is individualism.
Freedom means to do anything one want to do, but one can’t do anything against the law. For example, one can wear whatever clothes he or she wants. One can go to any school he or she desires. I’m happy about my freedom to use the internet. I’m also happy that I can wear whatever I want without being questioned or judged.
However, it has also brought some bad things. Liberty is the act of being free such as immigration. In the 19th century, immigration was in full force. Numerous people wanted to immigrate to the United States for new economic opportunities. Some of these people included the Germans, Irish, and Chinese.

English Coursework: Human Trafficking (Educate & Persuasive Speech) Freedom is a short, powerful word we take for granted every day. It’s hard to fully appreciate freedom when we’ve never had it snatched away from us. We get to choose our jobs, where we live, what we eat. If we are unhappy at work, we have the freedom to quit and find work elsewhere.
William Wallace is the main character in the movie Braveheart. When he was young, his father and brother were killed fighting the longshanks leaving William to grow up under the care of his uncle, Argyle. As a man, Wallace returned to his village and fell in love with a woman named Murron. They secretly got married, but Murron was killed by the British shortly after the wedding. William, fueled with hatred and the yearning for freedom, led the Scottish army to war.
Freedom means the power or right to act, speak, or think without restraint, and the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. Freedom is the correction to do what he/she wants, live life, and eat what he/she wants. How do we live free? We live free by not judging other people’s freedom rights. Everyone has their own rights.
