In my opinion The War of 1812 is often called the “Forgotten War” because of the issues that we’re faced during it. Also in my opinion the United States government would have rather forgotten this war because it was a shameful time for the government as a whole. Another thing about the “Forgotten War” is that it was extremely costly for the United States Government because “the British burnt down the White House, the Capitol, and other government buildings” (Shultz 2010).
