The British kept on attempting to pass taxes in the American colonies but every new tax they passed fueled the revolutionary flame within the angered

The Tea Act sparked the final revolutionary movement in Boston. A company from East India, burdened with eighteen million pounds of unsold tea. The tea was shipped directly to the colonies, and to be sold at a bargain price. The Townshend duties were still in place, however, the radical leaders in America found reason to believe that this act was a plot to buy popular support for the taxes already in force.

Separately, these acts did not cause the American revolution but together the acts created tension between the American colonists and England. The Stamp act started to build the tension between the colonists and England because it was the first tax directly imposed onto the colonists. They saw this as unfair because during the French and Indian war the colonist were ignored and then suddenly they were expected to pay off Britain’s war debt. The Stamp Act led to the Declaratory Act which led to many other laws given by King George the III and Parliament because of the backlash received from the colonists. The Boston tea party was an effect of the Tea Act enacted on the American colonists.

Prior to the start of the Seven Years War, the colonies of the United States had experienced a permissive relationship with Great Britain due to the act of Salutary Neglect. However, after the war, England felt they could no longer have such uninvolved relations with the colonists and began instituting stricter policies over them. Consequently, the Seven Years War marked a great turning point in colonial relations with England, with changes such as the legislation which led to the increase of British control as well as anti-British sentiment in the colonies. But despite these changes, continuities such as loyalty to Britain still remained after the war. At the end of the war, the Treaty Of Paris in 1763 ratified Britain’s uncontested control

The American Revolution was the first war in America 's history. It was caused by many events such as the French and Indian War, the Intolerable Acts, and the king’s oppressive rules. However, the main factors that caused this war were, taxation, not being allowed to have representation in Parliament and being denied their rights. The first reason that the colonists and England went to war, was the fact that England was passing taxes without the colonists having a voice.

Before I really knew anything about the American Revolution, I believed that there was only one overarching reason that sparked the American Revolution; colonists just decided one day to become independent. As I have learned more about the Revolution, I discovered I was completely wrong. There are, in fact, two main viewpoints that commenced the Revolution: British loyalists and conservatives against the radicals. The loyalist and more conservative side was supportive of any of the rules, laws, taxes, or anything of that sort that British Parliament or monarchy put in place. In contrast, the radical’s craved for independence from the British government since they deemed their laws as useless and confining.

Continuing on, we then had the Boston Tea Party. The now famous act of defiance against taxation by the colonists. English Parliament had passed a law raising the import duties on tea to help the East India Company. While Charleston, New York, and Philadelphia rejected tea shipments, merchants in Boston refused to give in the colonial pressure. On December 16, 1773, Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty boarded several ships in the Boston harbor and threw 342 chests of tea overboard.

A group of colonists known as Samuel Adams and members of The Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians who boarded three ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. This midnight raid became known as “The Boston Tea Party” which is popularly known in American history. The arrival of these ships Dartmouth, Eleanor, and Beaver spread quickly making the colonist grow angry because they did not want to pay taxes. Although, The Tea Act of 1773 was one of the series of taxes that the inhabitants of the colonies were required to pay, the Tea Act was created to save the West India Company from faltering. Therefore, taxing the colonists was the best alternative way of saving the Company.

However, in 1773, the East India Company noticed that there was an overproduction of tea and its prices surely would decline (“The Third Imperial Crisis”). Tea was one of the, if not the, most valuable asset to many members in Parliament. Britain was forced to impose a new Tea tax on the colonists, which was aimed to keep the price of tea high. Even this act was reasonable in the eyes of the British, but to the colonists, this was just a British way of assuring dominance considering it was now for profit rather than to pay off debts. The response to the Tea Acts was the Boston Tea Party of 1773 (“The Third Imperial Crisis”).

What Caused the American Revolution The American Revolution was a battle for leadership in the American colonies. At the time, England controlled nearly all aspects, mostly the political and economic, of the colonial lives. Their purpose was to strengthen England. The colonies wanted the freedom from all of the control because they were doing fine without England.

The American Revolution was a very pivotal point in the history of the United States of America. Tensions were building between the colonists of the new world and the British. The British attempted to raise taxes in the colonies causing angry resistance from the colonists. Resistance from the colonies led to violence in 1770 provoking the British Parliament to pass a series of acts to reassert imperial authority in the colonies. By June of 1776 the war was in full swing.

When the British ships arrived in the Boston Harbor The colonist wanted the tea shipped back to England with out payment of tax. Then the royal governor of England insisted on payment of tax. On December 16 a group of men know as the Sons of Liberty disguised there self as Indians and boarded the British ships and dumped all of the tea into the Boston harbor. After that happened parliament passed Coercive Acts. Theses act were put in to place to punish the colonist for dumping the British tea into the Boston harbor.
