I am going to compare Tom and Till, for their murders and what had happen to them and the same reasons. They were both killed in the south after the civil war. They were also black. Tom was killed because they thought they he had raped they white women.

Throughout the book, the reader is presented with racism which is something that Jem and Scout did not understand in the beginning. A big, specific event in the book was Tom Robinson’s case.

Unfortunately, because of Tom being genuinely unaware of the fact that Jim just so happens to be engaged, Jim and Laura do not end up becoming a couple. Tom Buchanan is Fitzgerald’s masterpiece of creating a character who portrays the life, and characteristics as an alpha male. Through the vision of character’s surrounding Tom we began to see how his loftier masculinity characterizes him in the story. I begin with a quote from Tom’s wife Daisy that embodies the intimidating masculine characteristics of Tom, “I know you didn’t mean to, but you did do it. That’s what I get for marrying a brute of a man, a great, big, hulking physical specimen of a-----” (Fitzgerald 12). In this quote from Daisy we view a list of characteristics that are associated with Tom’s masculinity.

The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is about how the interactions between money and love have major effects on the relationships between Tom, Daisy, and Gatsby. The relationship between Tom and Daisy is built more on money rather than love, however, there is little bits of love. Daisy marries Tom because of his wealth, but throughout their relationship she does, fall in love with Tom at least once. Also, Tom uses his money to basically buy Daisy’s love showing that he wants to have love in his life. The relationship between Gatsby and Daisy is also built on wealth, but it also involves love, alike the relationship of Tom and Daisy.

In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, there are many important characters, some alike and some different. Two characters who are both different and alike at the same time are Tom Buchanan and George Wilson. Fitzgerald gives the reader a lot of information about how Tom and George are very different from each other. One can interpret many different things that Fitzgerald may be trying to convey about the nature of men. Based on how he portrays Tom and George’s actions it helps to show the true nature of men.
