Her black and white low cut one shoulder top that meets at her left shoulder with a black bow fits snugly around her tiny body. With her right arm covered in a fishnet sleeve, she waves to the crowd. Her short checkerboard skirt paired with lace white socks bounces up and down as she struts the stage. The highly sexualized 6 year old, Jonbenet Ramsey, was no stranger to the spotlight during her life. Shortly before her murder, she was named Little Miss Colorado. While being a Pageant Princess may sound glorious, many believe that her beauty killed her. Her exposure to the public made her a target for many pedophiles who watched the pageant world. The police investigation began instantly as a child abduction case, but soon took a turn for the worse when Jonbenet’s father, John Ramsey found her dead in the basement of her own house. “She was lying on the cold cement floor of the wine cellar with blood and bruises on her head, and a cord around her neck” (Agrawal). Immediately the child abduction case turned into that of a cold blooded murder. “The police should have done a better job controlling the crime scene from the begining” (Adams). With John Ramsey picking up his daughter’s dead body, and family friends walking around the house all morning, the chances of finding any evidence within the house was diminished. For months police looked nonstop to any clues that would lead them to find Jonbenet's murderer. No one knows who is truly responsible for the murder of Jonbenet, but the theories that live to haunt her death are what keeps the media interested. Many believe that Jonbenet’s brother was also her murderer. Although Burke Ramsey (Jonbenet's brother) was only 9 at the time of her death, his suspicious attitudes towards her death lead many to believe that he killed her. During a CBS interview just days after his sister's death, Burke Ramsey was asked to draw a picture of his family. In that picture, he drew himself, his mother, and his father. When asked about Jonbenet, Burke simply stated that “Jonbenet is no longer here” (Adams). When CBS aired this interview, the media went crazy with headline articles stating “ The Case of Jonbenet Ramsey; Pins murder on older brother” (Kolodny). Even 21 years after this CBS interview, and after Burke Ramsey was officially taken off of the suspect list, the public still believe that Burke Ramsey murdered Jonbenet.
