Her black and white low cut one shoulder top that meets at her left shoulder with a black bow fits snugly around her tiny body. With her right arm covered in a fishnet sleeve, she waves to the crowd. Her short checkerboard skirt paired with lace white socks bounces up and down as she struts the stage. The highly sexualized 6 year old, Jonbenet Ramsey, was no stranger to the spotlight during her life. Shortly before her murder, she was named Little Miss Colorado. While being a Pageant Princess may sound glorious, many believe that her beauty killed her. Her exposure to the public made her a target for many pedophiles who watched the pageant world. The media coverage on both newspapers and magazines about her pageant life put her center stage …show more content…
The police investigation began instantly as a child abduction case, but soon took a turn for the worse when Jonbenet’s father, John Ramsey found her dead in the basement of her own house. “She was lying on the cold cement floor of the wine cellar with blood and bruises on her head, and a cord around her neck” (Agrawal). Immediately the child abduction case turned into that of a cold blooded murder. “The police should have done a better job controlling the crime scene from the begining” (Adams). With John Ramsey picking up his daughter’s dead body, and family friends walking around the house all morning, the chances of finding any evidence within the house was diminished. For months police looked nonstop to any clues that would lead them to find Jonbenet's murderer. Unfortunately, 21 years later, the case was never solved and justice was never brought to Jonbenet …show more content…
No one knows who is truly responsible for the murder of Jonbenet, but the theories that live to haunt her death are what keeps the media interested. Many believe that Jonbenet’s brother was also her murderer. Although Burke Ramsey (Jonbenet's brother) was only 9 at the time of her death, his suspicious attitudes towards her death lead many to believe that he killed her. During a CBS interview just days after his sister's death, Burke Ramsey was asked to draw a picture of his family. In that picture, he drew himself, his mother, and his father. When asked about Jonbenet, Burke simply stated that “Jonbenet is no longer here” (Adams). When CBS aired this interview, the media went crazy with headline articles stating “ The Case of Jonbenet Ramsey; Pins murder on older brother” (Kolodny). Even 21 years after this CBS interview, and after Burke Ramsey was officially taken off of the suspect list, the public still believe that Burke Ramsey murdered Jonbenet. Although the American public does not have the whole story of the murder, our tendency to judge others leads us to believe that Burke Ramsey murdered his
In the controversial court case, the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, many believe the family happens to be the killers; however, the court show take their focus away from the Ramsey family. The neighbors said the Ramsey’s spoiled their children and raised them the best they could, but others say different. The majority of the people that know about this case have their minds set on the parents being the murderers, but there is other evidence that could steer law enforcement away from the family. Evidence was found that night that could show the family did it, but other evidence possibly shows someone else. Since the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, the finding of a ransom note demanding $118,000, random DNA tests, and confession by an individual have
December 26, 1996, Boulder Colorado, the day after Christmas, six-year JonBenet Ramsey is found dead in her basement with a three-page handwritten ransom note demanding $118,000, from someone claiming they kidnapped JonBenet and they would receive a call the next morning at at 10am, the note was addressed to John Ramsey and asked for the exact amount of John's Christmas bonus that year (Casarez). She died of a skull fracture and strangulation and nobody knows who killed her; her mom parents, John and Patricia Ramsey, were under much suspicion for her murder and to some people still are today. JonBenet had a big brother named Burke, and he’s one of the most suspected people; he was only 9 years old at the time of her death so it’s very unlikely he killed his little sister. Burke stayed quiet about her death for a long time but 20 years later in 2016 he spoke for the first time to CBS.

Blog Post 3 Today I read and watched “JonBenet Ramsey's Brother Breaks Silence 20 Years After Her Murder.” By ENJOLI FRANCIS.This article was mainly focused on JonBenet's older brother as the main suspect in the case. The article included an interview with Burke Ramsey, which was his first time speaking publicly about JonBenet’s death. The interview was recorded in 2016, 20 years after the murder of JonBenet.
The first thing to be examined is the broken window in Ramsey’s playroom. Then the body of JonBenet Ramsey was discovered in a wine cellar in the basement also discovered by the body was a Barbie nightgown with the victim’s blood on it as well as a baseball bat and rope in a paper bag found in different areas of the house. Mrs. Ramsey found the ransom note by on the kitchen stairway of their home which indicated that JonBenet Ramsey had been kidnapped. Therefore, Mr. Ramsey had to pay withdrew one hundred and eighteen thousand dollars from his account if he didn’t do so the kidnappers would kill JonBenet Ramsey. JonBenet Ramsey was strangled and suffered a blow to the right side of her
I am very familiar with this tragic event that occurred December 26, 1996 in the Ramsey household. JonBenet Ramsey was located in her basement home where her father John, her mother Patsy and brother Burke also lived. Before her lifeless body was discovered Patsy found a ransom note in the home demanding a large sum of money. It was shown that JonBenet’s skull was fractured, she had been strangled and molested. There was blood located in JonBenet’s underwear that did not belong to her.
On December 26th,1996, JonBenet's mother Patsy Ramsey claimed to have found a handwritten 2.5 page ransom note on their stairs. The ransom note also demanded $118,000 for JonBenet to have a safe return, otherwise they claimed JonBenet would be “beheaded”. The
The fracture on her skull matched the width of the flashlight, so it may be conceivable that he could have accidentally killed his sister. This theory however, is somewhat disbelievable since the strangulation JonBenét endured was proven to have been done while she was alive. John Ramsey, although ruled out as the author of the ransom note, is also considered by some to be the killer, as the media sought for cover stories and an ending to the story for sensation. The entire Ramsey family was publicly exonerated in 2008 by the Boulder County district, which faced controversy. As well as JonBenét’s family, came many other
The murder of JonBenet Ramsey is a crime to which today remains unsolved. It is said that early errors in the case of the six-year-old beauty pageant contestant who was found dead in her family home, destroyed the case before investigation took place. This report examines the strengths and weaknesses of the detection and investigation process as well as how the failures of the investigation could have been overcome in the case of JonBenet Ramsey. 1.0 Background Early Boxing Day morning in 1996, JonBenet’s mother, Patsy Ramsey, made the emergency call claiming that her daughter had been kidnapped for ransom in their family home in Boulder, Colorado (Conrad 1999). Hours after detectives had arrived, JonBenet’s beaten body was found in the
After looking at all of the evidence provided by the JonBenet Ramsey murder case, and it’s suspects, John and Patsy Ramsey, John Mark Karr, and Burke Ramsey, all the evidence points to Burke Ramsey as the killer. To begin with, JonBenet Ramsey was born on August 6, 1990 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was a 6 year old beauty pageant who lived in Boulder, Colorado, and was the daughter of John and Patsy Ramsey. On December 26th, the day after Christmas, she was found by her murdered in the basement of her own home by her father. A blow to the head had fractured her skull; she had been strangled with a cord that was tied around her neck and was tightened with a garrote. (Casarez J.)Till today, the murder remains unsolved and investigators continue
Police put them under heavy observation since the family refused to talk to them at first. The Ramseys were under such heavy suspects that in 1999, a grand jury almost indicted Jonbenét’s parents on charges of child abuse. However, there was not enough evidence to support it. (The Tragic Murder 00:07:14-00:07:26). Evidently, JonBenét was strangled and beaten in the basement of her home.
One of very first mistakes the Department made was that they did not search the house very thoroughly, nor did put the house on secure the home and the evidence within the home after the first arrived on the sense. The Police department should have made sure that nobody enter the home, nor left the Ramsey home, before they had the opportunity to search it, and question everyone in the home at the time of the event. With no doubt if the police would have searched the house when they first arrived on the sense, they would have found JonBenet in the cellar of the basement in the Ramsey home wrapped in a blanket. Allowing John Ramsey and a close friend to search the house for missing house hold items, and that allowed him to find his deceased daughter. The Bounder Police Department also allowed family and friends to enter the home,
On the morning of December 26, 1996 John Ramsey discovered the lifeless body of six-year old JonBenet Ramsey in the basement of the family’s home. This was the beginning of an American crime story that remains unsolved to this day, despite the Boulder Police Department processing over fifteen hundred pieces of evidence and interviewing more than one thousand people (Agrawal, 2016). The Ramsey family blamed the Boulder Police Department for their inexperience kidnapping and murder investigations and scrutinized the police for not seeking additional assistance from other law enforcement agencies (Ramsey, 2000). The Boulder Police Department immediately became suspicious that a member of the Ramsey’s family or someone close to them committed
JonBenet Ramsey was a 5-year-old beauty queen with a big personality who lived in Boulder, Colorado. She was murdered a day after Christmas in 1996. Her murder still remains unsolved, but there are multiple theories around her death. JonBenet’s unidentified murderer could have been a close member of her family or one of three other suspects that have some relation to her murder.
Twenty years have passed since the murder of 6 year old JonBenet Ramsey. On December 26, 1996 Patsy Ramsey (JonBenet’s mother) called the police to tell her child was missing. The police arrived moments later and found a panicked family and family friends. Police told the Family to search the house top to bottom to find evidence. John Ramsey came back moments later with Jon’s dead body.
