We all face difficulties in our lives. Often such difficulties can lead us into great depression. A lot of emotions connect to what we do. It affects the way one thinks of viewing his or her life. Yet, if we try we can improve and gain more understanding of ourselves. In the untitled picture by David S. Waitz, we see a man standing in a glass booth alone. While at the back there is a person who looks to see what he does. In representation to this we also face similar outcomes in life, when we feel as if being alone will help letting you understand what you have done. Like the man in the glass booth when we learn the significance of our difficulties we then change for the better. Personal, I have overcome the same difficulties in life. When I shoplifted, it put me through a stage of depression. I …show more content…
We choose our own thoughts, reactions and emotions. We don’t always have to take everything negatively. Through the action I took of shoplifting, I realized how upset I always felt and therefore I wanted to change myself to make me happy and everyone else happy. Through this time in life I realized that our actions do speak for ourselves, and we need to learn that sometimes we do need to change ourselves so nobody gets hurt. When I felt lonely like the man in the glass booth, I then realized that I don’t want to be this lonely person anymore. I wanted to enjoy my life, but not in way where I took the wrong action to please myself. I discovered that I wasn’t a person who likes to feel that upset all the time and always be thinking of what I did wrong. Instead I wanted to be the person who learns from a mistake and improves from it. I discovered that I can change for my well being and for the well being of others. In addition, over the course of this stage in life I learned to find out what who I really wanted to be. Like me others can change the way they want to be, because negativity won’t take you
When responding to situations in life, people must consider if what they are doing will benefit themselves or the people around them. In circumstances that demand quick thinking, people often can not form a concrete decision based on how little information and time they are given. In life, people must frequently try to do so through their daily battles with the people around them, in addition to themselves. People's hardships often affect what will compel them to respond, in many areas of a person's environment they are tied to certain deprivations in life, either privately or through another person. With those ties, come the understanding and compassion, these setbacks can help others gain a better insight into another person's difficulties.
Obstacles and stressful situations in our life will make us even stronger and smarter by adaptation to a life change. Fear is the most powerful emotional stimulator of action people have and by speaking we can disappear our fears. The three authors are similar because they are talking about one same issue “How people should be to fit in in the society, in how the pass to struggles that help them to understand they don’t need to do things they don’t want to do like dress in new fashion trend or talk in a certain way, they just want to be how they
We all face the different characters of our self in one point in our lives. The decision is for you to choose whether you want to be a person who remains the same or a new changed person who wants to leave an impact on the people in your life. Human nature is a life filled with jealousy, selfishness, peer pressure ,etc… but it is the decision of the individual to change your destiny. Not just yours but many others because your testimony can impact others to change and be a better person who motivates, builds people’s character, and strengthens relationships among all people. The more the renewal of many people’s lives changing the more positivity we will see in
Title Adversity, which may appear in many different forms, is an inevitable aspect of life. Whether it is a personal issue, a challenging circumstance or a societal challenge, adversity has the ability to mould a person's identity. Obstacles get in the path of life, but instead of trying to slow down our progress, they inspire our souls to use the strength that has been provided to us to achieve our goals. Numerous people have encountered adversity throughout history and succeeded in emerging more powerful and resilient as a result. Adversity can serve as a motivation for personal growth and transformation, as seen by individuals like Albert Einstein and Bethany Hamilton.
To balance all these expectations, I have had to make an effort to find myself and explore my character so that my self-discovery could guide me to make decisions for my future. This, in turn, has matured me in ways many teens my age have not had a chance to experience. Though I don 't have a concise plan for my future, I have decided that I want to focus on receiving a education that will bring about a career involved in helping others, but is flexible enough that I can spend time with my family. I could not have set this goal for myself I had not been tested by the different components I faced in my life. It is uncertain where I would be today if I had not experienced the challenges brought upon by moving to another country or living with parents who struggled to integrate into the world around them.
“Everywhere I see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded. I was benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend.” (69) Said the creature. Proof that because of how you are treated in society, can enable how you act.
Usually in life, it is best for anyone to take a step back to the past and look at the big picture. No one could flatter himself that he is immune to the changes around him. Moreover, with all the demands that life can put on a person, sometimes it is easy to lose the essence of “me”. By losing this essence, the person could develop either a better version or a worse version of himself. Looking back at the beginning of this year (freshman year), I have been just that young soul eager to meet life’s challenges especially culture changing challenges.
When faced with adversity a moment is presented, a key moment that shapes who you are, and it is weather you chose to let it impede you or strengthen you that defines your identity. Adversity cannot be avoided. Everyday people are faced with obstacles and the defining moment of overcoming it or breaking through that barrier is so crucial to forming the people we are today. David S. Waitz brilliantly displays this concept in his graphic featuring a man standing, alone in a blurred glass case. The man is isolated.
The Pursuit of Happiness Who I am today has primarily been dictated by the environment in which I have been raised. I will continue to be molded throughout my life, but now I am entering a period of my life where I will be the one deciding who I am. Today, I am not the person I want to be and not the person who many perceive me to be, but am striving to become the man I want to be. In my life, I constantly find myself trying to balance friends, family, school, and sports.
This is demonstrated in J.D Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye , Ken Roy’s Romeo and Juliet and Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie. Making decisions based on emotions leads to negative outcomes. When failing to consider all the consequences to your actions it can lead to negative outcomes.
When people are getting through hard times in their lives, it’s always better to think positive. An article by Dallas Morning News and a book by Gary Paulsen, has shown the power of positive thinking. Paulsen's’ book ‘Hatchet’ is about a boy name Brian Robeson, who survived a plane crash and how positive thinking helped him have hope that everything will be okay and how he will survive. In the article “Juvenile justice program teaches boys life lesson and accountability’’ it states how positive thinking has helped people with their life and characteristic.
As Lonely As Me- PigPen Theatre Co. “As Lonely As Me” by PigPen Theatre Co. is a song I chose to describe the scene where Lennie was in the barn after he killed one of Slim’s pups and Curley’s wife approached him. Lennie tried to make her understand that he didn’t want to talk to her in fear that he’d get it trouble, however she didn’t allow him to do so. “‘Wha’s the matter with me?’ she cried.
Change is a tremendous component of my life. It can expand from a favorite song to a different lifestyle. Not to mention that my positiveness has benefited me through my growth as a human being. It has helped me understand the full picture and feel less stress along with reducing pressure on me. As Willie Nelson stated, “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive
Famous Canadian author and activist, Margaret Atwood, states, “You may not be able to alter reality, but you can alter your attitude towards it, and this, paradoxically, alters reality. Try it and see”. It is a universal truth that every one of us will be faced with a multitude of different opportunities and challenges in our lives. If you have a poor attitude about a situation you find yourself in, the quality of that experience is always going to be diminished. However, we have the power to take total control over our negative preconceptions, not dictating the circumstance, but how we approach it.
I learned how to manage my time more efficiently since I had to balance my work and education and still do all the activities that make me happy such as playing soccer and badminton with my friends or being part of clubs at my school. Although life does not go by rule; there are times when I think what would happen if my dad was still healthy and I wouldn 't have to work. I wonder what it feels like not to think about paying the rent for a day or being able to spend the weekend without working. Still, at the end of the day when I first bought my mother an iPhone with my earnings, I felt satisfied with myself.
