Mowat’s Rhetorical Strategies The book “Never Cry Wolf” is about a scientists who goes into a flat tundra in northern Canada to study wolves. The scientists name is Farley Mowat, and he explains in the book that wolves aren't savage beasts. He has many different ways of doing so at first he found out that it’s not even the wolves who have been killing the caribou it’s the eskimos in the area who have sled dogs to feed along with themselves. In the book Mowat finds out that the wolves are actually only eating the sick caribou and field mice. Mowat gives factual evidence that the wolves aren’t savage killers.

Sometimes that's all we can do to help transform our lives. Some of the most important people in history had to reset and make a transformation. John Adams and Abigail Adams had to address problems in their marriage. Hamilton had many things he faced he needed to transform to get the life back that he wanted. Ben Franklin had to transform the way he saw things and change to transform his life and how he looked at himself.

Totem poles are used for many things. “However, although poles were greatly respected, they weren’t religious items: totem poles were never worshiped. Only wealthy and respected men were allowed to own a totem pole” (Liptak 55). One kind of totem pole that were often seen, were memorial poles, which were built when a chief died and a new one was going to take his place. A memorial pole, on the other hand, were worshiped and honored.

First period started and it was announced that we were heading outside to see the animals. Totem poles can be categorized into 7 groups based on their functions. Native Americans use them for many different reasons. “The carving on totem poles separates and emphasizes the flat, painted surfaces of the symbolic animals and spirits depicted on them” (“Totem Pole”). Memorial poles, or heraldic poles, are made to show when a house changes owners. Grave marker poles remember people, but don’t necessarily contain the people.

Virtuous traits shape a man when they are moderately demonstrated, but extreme manifestations of virtuous traits have the opposite effect.. In the two books Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick and The Friendship, by Mildred. D. Taylor, the main characters brought positive change when they were vulnerable. In both of these books, people were vulnerable, but were able to bring positive change, whether it be to either themselves or others. In life, everyone at some point in time is in a tough position, but you can always bring positive change, no matter what the circumstances may be. For example, in Freak the Mighty, one of the main characters, named Maxwell, befriended a peculiar kid named Kevin that was much more intelligent than him, but was very small and was not very mobile.

She doesn’t focus commonality but rather accepts it to be a through of her fleeting surroundings. There is a familiarity without compassion.
