In accordance to the Camden Academy Charter High School National Honor Society application process I will be writing an essay based on the four pillars of the National Honor Society Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service and how they apply to me. Scholarship applies to me mostly through my scholastic work ethic, I am primarily intimating around my transition from sophomore year to junior year. When I first entered the CACHS school system I started out just like any other kid with regular classes and everything. Then around the final week of my sophomore year my teachers started coming to me talking about taking advanced courses for my junior year a topic I didn’t really think much about. My first teacher to come to me about advanced
I plan on obtaining my masters in nursing and becoming a neonatal nurse. Without taking science courses at River Valley, becoming a nurse would have never crossed my mind. As a sophomore I took biology where I learned about topics such as genetics and how different genes can affect an offspring. In chemistry I became fascinated with the idea of mixing different elements and chemicals to make something brand new and in anatomy I was taught about the skeletal, muscle and nervous systems which we were able to better see through

Because of the amount of experience and knowledge that I have gained throughout the course of being a member of Blinn TEAM, I think that it is fair to say that I am a seasoned and worth-while contestant to transfer into Texas A&M. Being on Blinn TEAM has taught me a different level of time management, prioritization, and dedication that I believe fully enrolled Texas A&M or Blinn students do not have the opportunity to experience. Not only am I a Blinn TEAM student- I am a member of the Corps of Cadets, a New Student Conference Orientation Leader, and a student worker. I have ingrained myself to Texas A&M not only academically, but by plunging myself into the culture and tradition.
The cost of college tuition is an enormous problem now days. For a long time, the subject never got brought up and today things are changing. Students study hard and try their best to get that college acceptance letter from their dream college. However, college tuition is not very affordable and is increasing every year.
Epidemiology also interests me since it is truly a combination of many different areas as it draws on statistics, clinical medicine, microbiology and many other fields. The internship with the summer institute with the UT School of Public Health would give me hands on experience in public health practice, specifically with opportunities in infectious diseases and epidemiology. I feel that my experiences and classes I have had throughout my time as a public health major will allow me to put my knowledge to use in the real world. I have listed the “Zika and Neglected Tropical Diseases” as my the preference for my first project, as it aligns exactly with my career goals and interests.
Based on the reading on pages three to eleven in An Insider’s Guide, I would say that my major, animal science, fits into the applied fields discipline. The majority of students who choose to major in animal science desire to use that degree to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. In An Insider’s Guide, any field of medicine is considered to be a part of the applied fields discipline, as this field is used as a way to prepare one to directly apply what they learned in college to a certain career path. Animal science is one of those fields in which one learns specifically about animals, their bodies, and their importance in society, and then applies that knowledge in anything from agricultural production to veterinary medicine; the knowledge
