During the summer vacation, I gladly came across “Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence” and "War Horse"; two inspiring, and heart warming books. Both managing to prove that hope and resilience can get you through the obstacles and struggles that you face in life. Despite the great portrayal of characters and the exquisite delivery of themes by both authors, I have managed to conclude that “Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence" was the highlight of my summer reading.

Firstly, he believes the perseverance it takes to show up for hard practices is useful later in life. Especially when they get frustrated with something and don’t notice the little bits of progress they are making.

My book Kid Owner by Tim Green is about a kid named Ryan who loves football. Ryan’s mom doesn’t agree with Ryan about football. Ryan wants to play football but Ryan’s mom wants him to keep playing soccer. Ryan’s never met his father and when Ryan’s father had passed away he had left Ryan the Dallas Cowboy’s. Ryan somehow has to find a way to keep the team.

This quarter I read the realistic fiction book, The Batboy by Mike Lupica. This book is a story about a 14 year old boy named Brian Dudley. Son of a former pitcher and an avid baseball fan, Brian gets his dream summer job: the bat boy for his favorite team the Detroit Tigers. When it seems like his summer cannot get any better, his all-time favorite player Hank Bishop is signed to the team. At the beginning, Hank is cold and yells at Brian a lot, but in the end they become friends.

There was not quite enough descriptive adjectives used to describe the characters in the novel and often left the reader feeling left out or confused. In this quote “Before they got into their parents’ cars, Sam and Coop asked ben if he wanted them to come over once they got out of their gear. ”(p 103) there is little to no emotion given from the characters Sam and Coop even though they just lost their important football game it leaves the reader feeling like they didn’t care instead of being disappointed which they were a few paragraphs before. The main protagonist Ben is described as being 11 years old short and respectful but the cognitive process of the child is matched to one of an adult. In the Main conflict Ben helps Shawn become a better quarterback despite wanting to be the starting quarterback and this is often quite unrealistic because at that age most kids are more worried and focused on themselves and would rarely go the extra mile for others while at the same time giving himself a disadvantage.

The Education of Dasmine Cathey “The Education of Dasmine Cathey,” by Brad Wolverton is an informative and compelling story about a student athlete who struggles with making educated choices that he is not familiar with in life, college, and football. There are so many reasons young college athletes succeed in sports, but fail in education. This story is a tragic tale of educational shortfalls that caused Mr. Cathey a football player to fall through the cracks of a flawed school system and became exploited by his family, friends and the college football program. These challenges during these times, created unwanted side effects in every aspect of his life. This is a great story because the author allowed the reader to feel every emotion

The novel The Mighty Miss Malone ​is a beautiful story about a normal family living during the great depression, Deza Malone's family has the motto "We are a family on a journey to a place called Wonderful" and Deza is consistently marked in her school as someone who is sure to go far in life. In the book Brian 's winter the main character is Brian from the book Hatchet. Brian 's winter is a spin of book telling the story of him if he wasn 't rescued at the end of Hatchet and had to last the winter in the woods. This book was made to the people wondering what would 've happen to brian if he wasn 't rescued. Brian 's Winter shows how tough he has to be able to survive and make it through the winter.

The film takes place in Alexandria, Virginia. Where racial tensions are high and one high school is forced to integrate through all the madness. T.C Williams is the new school with the football team being the main focus. The football team has not only players but also coaches as well who are black and white and must come together. Their willingness to come together will not only help them succeed on the field but also in the community.

“Don’t Call Me Ishmael”, written by Michael Gerard Bauer is a humorous novel that interacts with the readers especially young readers by exploring what high school is like for those who are being bullied and harassed but it also explores different stages of how friendships first develops. The protagonist who is a 9th grader named Ishmael Lesseur is sticking to the shadows and staying out of everyone’s way especially Barry Bagsley who has target Ishmael and has been harassing him since first day of year 8 at St Daniels Boys Collage. Throughout the book Ishmael struggles with identifying who he is and what he is worth. Michael Gerard Bauer has added sarcasm, irony, puns, embarrassing and humorous moments in the book to keep all the readers engrossed

Gary Paulsen 's Hatchet is a modern classic tale of a stranded boy 's struggle for survival in the wilderness. The book is based on a 13-year-old who is accustomed to big-city life and comfort when he finds himself alone in a remote Canadian forest with no tools but a hatchet his mother gave him. Brian Robeson, a thirteen-year-old boy from New York City, is the only passenger on a small plane headed toward the oil fields of Canada. Brian is on his way to spend the summer with his father, and he 's feeling totally bummed about his parents ' recent divorce. he doesn 't have much time to dwell on his unhappy family situation, though, because the pilot the only other person on the plane suddenly suffers a heart attack and dies.

I would recommend this book to any teenage girl who won’t mine wasting tissues for tears and will not mine getting angry at characters. I would recommend this book to a teenage girl because of all of the romance and usually boy aren’t in to those things. If you are up for the challenge, I will recommend this book to you. All I have to say if you decide to read this novel, fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride through a page-turning journey, the loops the author puts you threw from her described word choice and the swift pace you’re put on by the
