This is a good policy which concerns the confidentiality of the information given by the service users. The policy is developed as a result of the Data Protection Act 1998 which compels organisations to be protective of the personal details of the service users.
Policy of risk assessment also concern health and safety which allows the care organisations to identify possible hazards in the workplace. With such policy occurences of hazards in the health and social care can be very minimal. With such risk assessment policy, necessary equipment for providing safety had been made available to the staff and there are first aid materials for attending to emergency issues in the health and social care organisations (Morath & Turnbull, 2004).
There is the system of care planning in the health and social care organisation. Such system makes the care organisations to have strategies which are used for implementing safety policies. This care planning helps in maximizing the wellbeing of the care workers which enable them to be able to deliver sound services to the

7 / D.P7: Explain how different procedures maintain health and safety in a selected health or social care setting Maintaining health and safety in health and social care is extremely important to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all their service users as well as other individuals service providers may come in contact with in the setting. There are several procedures that help to maintain this health and safety however they can all vary between settings for example, health and safety procedures will be slightly different and more focused on certain areas in hospitals and especially in paediatric ward compared to in drop-in centres where the needs and risk to service users are slightly different. Some of the procedures used in health and social care to maintain health and safety include; infection control and prevention, safe moving and handling of equipment and individuals, food preparation and storage, storage and administration of medication and storage and disposal of hazardous substances.
In P5 of my work I am going to outline and discuss the strategies and procedures used in health and social care to reduce the risk of abuse. The aim of the independent safeguarding Authority (ISA) was established under the Safeguarding Groups Act 2006 to protect children and vulnerable adult to those who might abuse them. The strategy in order to achieve this is through mentoring people who seek access through their work, paid, unpaid and voluntary. As they have to be registered under the vetting and barring scheme and will be checked against one of two barred list. Reference can be defined as being information that is written by a pervious employer that tells the workplace what type of person the individual is and if their experience is valid and if they have the experience to work with vulnerable adult.
P4- when looking at strategies and communication techniques used with different individuals with different needs whom need to overcome different challenges many aspects must be looked at. A challenge Patrick may face may be awareness and knowledge, he may face this as well as others. Patrick may be aware that he has HIV however he may not be aware how much this will effect him and he may not be aware how to deal with it as he may lack the knowledge. In order to overcome this Patrick could educate himself in depth on HIV, this will help him come to terms with it and will also help him to help others understand HIV. Task 2 7 / C.P6: Compare the influence of different health and safety laws or policies on health and social care practice in a selected setting There are several different health and safety laws and policies that vary between settings in health and social care aimed towards different legislations that must be followed, and have resulted in improvements in health and social care practice. It is important that these legislations are followed by service providers in order for them to promote safe practice and to fully understand their responsibilities under these legislations. Some of the legislations include the Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Care Act 2014, the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Equality Act 2010.
As a service we have to comply with these regulations and by having regular meetings such as health and safety, infection control, checks being carried out such as fire compliance, having designated first aiders, file audits, medication audits, live staff observations and regular supervisions to not only provide support to staff and identify any training or support needs but also to highlight any areas that are of concern that could have a detrimental impact on our service
The responsibilities of an employer and employee under health and safety legislation, was founded in 1974. Act 1974 is a law made to secure the health, safety, wellbeing of people at work and to prevent unnecessary risks. An employer’s responsibilities under health and safety legislation, requires the employer to be responsible for the health and safety of any person in their premises, which includes employees, customers, suppliers and the public. Employers should hire a certified person in charge of health and safety, however in small businesses that person is usually the owner or a trusted member of staff.
There are two categories; 1 is about doing risk assessments and figuring out what to do when an emergency occurs. 2 is about organization of things such as transport, this group is less likely to be involved in main planning of work but will be involved in incidents/emergencies that affect sectors. This policy and procedure is for incident and emergencies. This promotes safety because routes and procedures have been planed and placed in order in case of an emergency, by doing this it helps reduce the chance of any injuries or deaths when an emergency is happening.

Unsafe work practice that can affect the well-being of individuals include: Rough handling, for example pushing, pulling, dragging. Unsafe administration of medication, for example, failure to check dosage. Ignoring health needs and social needs such as clean clothing and personal hygiene. Visible injuries or marks of abuse on body and complaints not taken seriously can put them at more danger, harm and risk of abuse. I will ensure that I keep to all the procedures for checking for abuse and the wellbeing of the individuals that I work with; by following these and the individual’s care plan I keep within the minimum standards of care and also work in a person centred way to make sure all individuals are happy and safe.

The Local Complaint Stage (1) Immediately after hearing of a complaint, contact the complainant to determine where their issues lie and what they would like to see as a result of the investigation. It is important that the local manager • Demonstrates a caring attitude and shows that there is a genuine attempt to understand the problem. • Ensures the complainant is aware of the complaint process and timelines • Provides the complainant with their contact name and telephone number • Obtains all complaint details at this point of contact to avoid the customer having to repeat themselves

Policies, procedures and legislation are found in every establishment. They are required to have them in place in order to protect and keep the employers, employees and service users safe. Legislations in an establishment are a groups of laws set by the government that must be followed otherwise an individual will be prosecuted.
Every setting must to have a health and safety policies and procedures and there must to a regular risk assessment. Every early years settings must to keep a record of all accidents, incidents and emergence and any serious accidents, incidents and emergences must to be reported to Ofsted. There must to be a staff member that is trained in paediatric first aid at every session.
P6 Explain safe working practises necessary in preparing, cooking and serving food in the health and social care environment To be able to work in any food environment in the Health & Social Care setting you must first do a food hygiene course and they all come in different levels and categories, these are basic food hygiene to level 1 Food Safety, preparing drinks and snacks, for example, cups of tea, hot chocolate, making a sandwich or serving a piece of cake or fruit, Level 2 Food Hygiene, preparing and serving meals with hygiene training for those preparing and serving meals. This means they are responsible for the safety of children, young people and also the staff.
