7 / D.P7: Explain how different procedures maintain health and safety in a selected health or social care setting Maintaining health and safety in health and social care is extremely important to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all their service users as well as other individuals service providers may come in contact with in the setting. There are several procedures that help to maintain this health and safety however they can all vary between settings for example, health and safety procedures will be slightly different and more focused on certain areas in hospitals and especially in paediatric ward compared to in drop-in centres where the needs and risk to service users are slightly different. Some of the procedures used in health and social care to maintain health and safety include; infection control and prevention, safe moving and handling of equipment and individuals, food preparation and storage, storage and administration of medication and storage and disposal of hazardous substances. In the paediatric ward in hospitals infection control and prevention is very important. Service users in hospital are much more prone to infections and diseases as they are already unwell therefore extra precautions are always taken. Standard 9.04 a defines raw test data and scaled scores as raw information disclosed by clients during examination. Test data are client’s response to test and scaled scores and these information’s have not been released or subjected to analyzing by a third party. The scaled score are the psychologist note during the testing and does not include psychotherapy notes. The revised rules for test data was implemented in 2003 and new rules were added to help client have autonomy over their raw data.
During Q1-Q2 2015, I have achieve 5 out of 6 KPI target. The numbers provided below are average KPI from January to June 2015. Infections: Needles are a big hazard if not thrown away after use. If they are left lying around someone else it can pass on symptoms if they someone who used it before had diabetes or maybe even HIV, it can even cause an infection. This is a health hazard. Another hazard is if there is no hygiene in the hospital, someone could become seriously ill. For example if nurses or doctors don’t wash their hands after helping another patient and then move on to the next, the patient could catch something.
However, the two mentioned ways to overcoming language barrier in the implementation of anti-discriminatory practice in health and social care, the training of staff on how to communicate better with service users for them to understand is the best. This is because the training encompasses all methods, ways and means that must be considered when communicating with people to ensure that they understand clearly what they have being told. Task 2 7 / C.P6: Compare the influence of different health and safety laws or policies on health and social care practice in a selected setting There are several different health and safety laws and policies that vary between settings in health and social care aimed towards different legislations that must be followed, and have resulted in improvements in health and social care practice. It is important that these legislations are followed by service providers in order for them to promote safe practice and to fully understand their responsibilities under these legislations. Some of the legislations include the Health and Safety at Work Act etc 1974, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Care Act 2014, the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Equality Act 2010.

Since there are many types of equipment's around a pediatricians office they can trip/ falls, especially when they are in a rush. Germs are really common safety concerns especially in a pediatrician's office as young patients don’t have the same knowledge as an adult of preventing germ spreading. The most cost-effective is a self-contained unit or "through the wall" system. This type of unit is just what it says. The evaporator and condenser are built into one unit which sits in the wall and vents from the cellar to the adjacent room.
