It was the late 1800s early 1900s when the American Industrial Revolution was just beginning. This was a time of great technological advancements, when factories began to thrive and electricity was just beginning. It was also a time of misery and death. This industrialization had a negative impact on American Society because it created child labor, terrible working conditions and tenements with conditions that could only be described as atrocious. To begin with the Industrial Revolution had a negative impact on American society because it caused thousands of children to die and become seriously injured due to child labor. The jobs that children were expected to do were far too dangerous for them. For instance, kids that worked in sewing factories ended up getting curved spins from leaning over machines for too long (entry 7). As well as spinal damage kids also obtained lung damage from the pollutants in the air (entry 7). Even worse, the machines were so heavy that if something shook it or moved it then it would collapse on the child operating the machinery (entry 7). Children were put into seriously dangerous situations that caused permanent damage to themselves and or death. Furthermore the Industrial Revolution had a negative …show more content…
The effects of the Industrial Revolution lead to the death of extremely young children and permanent damage that can never be fixed. It also caused working conditions to become atrocious because the owners of the factories never followed the rules which cause workers to fear for their lives. Finally it lead to the terrifyingly unsanitary living conditions of tenements. In conclusion the industrialization of American society was extremely negative to the American people's way of
While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because of the dangerous working conditions with no compensation for injury, it was actually a positive thing for society. Industrialization’s positive effects were that there were more jobs, child labor laws were created, and there was better transportation. The first thing was that more jobs were introduced. This made it easier for people to provide for their family, and although everyone had to work, they were all able to get a job so they could work.
While some might argue that industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of new machines, it was actually a negative thing for society. Industrialization’s negative effects were child labor, disgusting living conditions, and hard, dangerous, filthy jobs for little pay. One of the negative effects of Industrialization was child labor. Many children worked during the Industrial Revolution because they needed to support their families. Lots of them started working very young.
Environmental damage, exploitation of workers, and overpopulation in cities are all negative effects of American Industrialization. American Industrialization had many effects come out of it, both positive effects and negative effects. The positive effects of Industrialization are that it made work cheaper, employed thousands of workers, and improved people’s daily lives.
Between 1865 and 1900, Industrialization changed the way America continued about advancing. It brought about industries such as the railroads, steel and oil that generated jobs and opportunities, as well as economic wealth. Although these times were great for some - mainly the millionaires gaining fortune from their businesses and poor immigrants who found better lives in America than there were in their home countries - others, like the farmers and industrial workers, found a hard time making a living in the new, fast paced America. Farmers and industrial workers responded to the cruelness of industrialization by politically, financially, and socially.
The Industrial Revolution: How it Changed America In US history, the Industrial Revolution made a huge impact on American lives. Most of these changes were beneficial, though, some caused harm, but started a new stage in the growth of America. A large portion of the population gave up farming, and rivers allowed the use of water power for factories and shipping goods. Jobs once hard labor for many people, turned into something that could be easily done with the help of a machine, such as the Cotton Gin, a machine that cleaned the cotton that was picked in fields, so that people (most likely slaves) wouldn’t have to do so by hand. But, farming became less popular because of New England’s poor soil, so coal, cotton, and
The transition to machine producing factories changed America completely. The Industrial Revolution and the Lowell system impacted America by creating opportunity for the rise of the working class, an expansion of the workforce, and the achievements of labor unions. The Industrial Revolution gave room for the social emergence of the working class and a new opportunity for self-independence among Americans. Before the Industrial Revolution, people had to be trained in a special field and worked in that field.
The Industrial Revolution, lasting from the late 1700s until the early 1900s, was possibly one of the greatest time periods in this world’s history. This time period caused people to think more and dream bigger. From these big dreams rose up inventors, entrepreneurs, and business owners. The Industrial Revolution brought many new inventions and production processes, but along with great new things come great terrible horrors. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of the new production methods and what they produced, it was actually a negative thing for society.
The Industrial Revolution witnessed the evolution of large urban centers, such as Boston and New York City. It changed society from agrarian to mechanical, which further moved jobs to larger cities. As every coin has two sides, there are negative sides to this. Primarily, it caused severe pollution. The environment condition was bad with smokes surrounding them.
Without a doubt, industrialization was one of the biggest factors in how the United States developed. It gave us the means of mass production, better transportation, and eventually the consumerist society that the United States is today. Industrialization did drastically change American society, but did it change America for the better? Did it do more good than bad? While industrialization did lead to multiple social and economic problems, the advantages significantly outweigh the disadvantages.
Negatives of the Industrial Revolution While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of the mass creation of goods, it was actually a negative thing for society. Industrialization’s negative effects were the huge amount of child labor, the horrendous living conditions and the major city pollution. These main contributing factors are all reasons why the industrial revolution was mostly negative.
Effects of the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was an important event in history. It brought about many positives during its time. For instance, kids were well fed, educated, and clothed. There were plenty of negatives, as well. One very sad example was the machine injuries that happened to both children and adults.
Something that was good about the industrial revolution was that there was more workers and people could get payed more. Things that were bad was that little kids could. That’s bad because kid get hurt for example, for kids who worked on farms would ride on horse rakes and easily fall off and get crushed. Kids would get overworked after working 12 hours a day.
The industrial revolution created an age of wonder for the rich but also created a nightmare for the workers powering the industrial revolution. The period of rapid industrial growth during the 1800s and into the early 1900s was more harmful because of poor working conditions, violent labor disputes and poor regulations at factories. The businessmen of the industrial revolution created poor working conditions for men and women just
The Industrial Revolution was a major change in the nature of production in which machines replaced tools and steam and other energy sources replaced human or animal power. The Industrial Revolution began in England in the middle 1700s. During the Industrial Revolution, workers became more productive, items were manufactured, prices dropped, making hard to make items available to the working and middle class and not only the wealthy. Life generally improved, but the Industrial Revolution was also harmful. Pollution increased, working conditions were harmful, and capitalists employed women and young children, making them work long hours for low wages.
Certain successes would include an improvement in the economy, transportation, and the government. On one hand, there are many reasons the industrial revolution can be considered a mostly negative development. It created terrible living conditions for working class people. They lived
