Or one friend you made? • Link- And looking back, I realized that through Physical Education Classes I learned many new sports, skills and had a good time, meeting new people. • Position Statement- Physical Education is should be mandatory for students in High School because it helps combat obesity, it benefits students in many ways outside of the gym and it promotes a healthy lifestyle. 1st point • Topic Sentence- PE promotes a healthy lifestyle later in life. • Reason- PE classes teach students a healthy lifestyle and habits that will benefit them long after high school. • Evidence- “Physical …show more content…
• Evidence- The National Association for Sport and Physical Education states that physical education classes help children develop fine and gross motor skills, learn cooperation and teamwork, reduce stress, improve self-confidence and self-esteem. • Argue- Physical Education takes away from learning and is not required for college. While this is true, how to exercise is just as essential, not just for college but for your life. It needs to be taught. Colleges don’t require it, doesn’t matter for admission, takes up space for an AP class. PE can be integrated into the schedule so it does not take up space for an AP class. AP classes are stressful, and PE can help you relax. The brain, necessary for any class is worked in different way in PE. • Concession and rebuttal- PE is a way for students to relax...” There’s a lot of great research that shows that higher functioning of the brain and greater happiness come with exercise” - Steve
These classes promote health and team building skills. Physical education classes can help students maintain a healthy lifestyle especially during the many changes they are experiencing during
Did you know athletes in high school have 11% higher graduation rates and have up to 40 percent higher test scores that non athletes. Sports in high school are important and give kids more of a chance at succeeding in life and they should stay in high school to help kids find what they are best at. Sports can also help kids gain confidence in what they do a science study shows and it can help them push themselves to be better people. The education system in America has put limited funding in their physical education program leading to a decrease in enrolment numbers as well as providing inadequate standards of nutrition and health. They always say cheerleading isn't a sport. “All they are there to do is cheer the boys on and look pretty”. They think lifting girls is easy. They think cheering and jumping at the same time is easy, or doing it for 5 mins is a breeze They say we are nonathletic and don't work out. you think because we wear bows in our heads we can’t be athletes
Finally, the most important reason that high school students should not be required to take P.E. classes every year of high school is Some students have medical problems that make them unable to take p.e. classes. Imagine if a student with hemophilia were running with a group of kids outside and he tripped and scraped the skin off his knee, the coach might know how to respond but if he just happened to not be paying attention then there would be a student bleeding to death surrounded by children who would have no idea that something serious was even happening. Indeed, while it is important for children to exercise and to learn how to keep their bodies in shape, high school students should not be required to take P.E. classes every year of high school. I think that if a student has taken at least two years of P.E. already and still don’t exercise properly by themselves having them take a P.E. class every year for the rest of their school life would be a waste of time that they could be using to study other things.
Dear Editor, I am Writing to express my opinion on the issue of having physical education grades affect your total grade point average. Some may argue that children will take gym classes more seriously now that they know that their grade in that class will affect their overall grade. But if those students did not try before then they must not be students that will change their mind over a grade. People may also say that some children perform better in physical activities then in academics, but academics are always more important than sports. Even if you are a professional football player you are going to need some form of education to get into a good college or have a good job.
Physical education classes do not provide as much of a benefit as recess. In 2001, the Council on Physical Education for Children expressed the idea of replacing recess with physical education. Although physical education gives an outlet to let out anger, like any other academic classes, it imposes serious demand on children. Therefore, a physical education class is not much of a
Short sleeve polo shirt, shorts and trainers, it was time for Physical Education. A subject that usually children enjoy and get excited about. I don’t get excited at all. The uniform has ruined the subject for me completely. Having arms and legs exposed to the world might be alright for most people, but not me.
Required Sports A college student is sitting in a waiting room, waiting for his first job interview, his resume has little to nothing on it. The one thing that stands out, is the involvement in high school sports. The administrative assistant stand up and calls him into the office. The CEO of Apple Inc. says, “So, I see you were involved in high school sports, how does that help you with getting a job?”
Sports Should school cut sports out of kids daily life? Why or why not. No because I think sports helps kids mentally and physically Sports help students in school and with their grades. According to the 2013 study of the Institute of Medicine, Physically active students have better focus.
According to the article How Physical Fitness May Promote School Success, children who take part in physical activity absorb and retain new information more effectively than other students who are out of shape. This suggests, that to help students do better in school and in the classroom, they should make physical education mandatory. With physical activity present in a young students daily routine, they tend to have better grades. The article Physical Education Should be a Mandatory Class all Four Years of High School informs the reader that, According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, physical education doesn’t just lower the risk of diseases later in life but also improves focus in the classroom. In other words, P.E doesn’t just lower the risk of obesity and heart failure, it helps students in the classroom which is an even better reason to keep it around because it has multiple
Varsity Athletes Need Gym “89% of High school gym classes have attitude as the number one factor towards a student's grade in the class, so why should athletes be exempt from gym when their athletic ability and healthy lifestyle worth nothing while taking the class. ”(Department of health). Imagine spending a year at school without ever seeing a ball. That basically eliminates phys ed in general. What would they play without tag or balls? What would they do at recess? Sit around on the bleachers all day?
Elementary PE I actually was able to observe several different elementary grades, so that gave me a great idea of what the majority of the students do on a daily basis. I loved the kindergarten class as they are really little and cute!! A typical day for these little ones was once they arrived at the gym, they sat on the bleachers and waited for the teacher to give them the green light. This meant the class of six took off for a run for about five and a half minutes.
Throughout my life I have been told, find something that you enjoy and find something that will benefit you as well as others. I really have not taken this statement to my heart until I got the opportunity to sit down with Candy Vander Wal, athletic trainer at Shiloh Christian School. The whirlwind of all the games that take place at the school, I had never realized what role Candy played a part of and all the hard work she does to help student athletes. Once we started to talk, I began to realize that, although I am only a senior in high school, I could see myself enjoying being an athletic trainer someday or just entering the sports medicine line of work. During our conversation, Candy taught me that finding something you enjoy can benefit not only you but others too.
