I think my parents are going to go deaf soon. Between the snap of the snare drum, the ring of a crash cymbal, the kick of the bass drum, and the clang of the baby grand piano, my parents hearing is declining. With percussion and piano I have been drawn to the more boisterous instruments. Even though I play some of the loudest instruments, my parents still yell at me for being on the quiet computer. It seems that my parents don’t value quiet as much as I thought. I have a variety of interests some of which include music, marching band, and video games. At the age of 6 or 7 I walked into my living room and saw a grand piano, which I thought was pretty cool until I realized that I would be taking lessons for the piano. At first I hated the lessons, …show more content…
I always enjoyed the performance, especially the Drumline. Because of this, I decided to join the Marchmasters during my freshman year. Since joining, I have realized that it is a lot more work than I had anticipated. Not only do I have to wake up really early, the practices can be up to 4 hours long, marching and carrying a drum. Even though is a lot of work I still continue to do it. When i’m not busy with drums, piano, or homework, I am often playing video games. We have many gaming consoles, however I only play on my laptop and phone. Although I maintain good grades my parents won’t allow me to play my laptop on school days. This may be the reason I have good grades but I don’t know because they won’t let me play it on school days to see if my grades go down. Other than that, my parents don’t have many problems with me playing video games.
Music, marching band, and video games are a big part in my life. Marching band forces me to be very responsible because I have to learn and memorize my music. Also I have to be on time for the early morning rehearsals. Piano has taught me patience, because learning piano music takes a lot of time. Despite all this nothing beats a good video
Rebels Without a Cause Not very many people have affected me in the same way as my friend Jake Fernholz. I have never realized the influence he has had on me until someone pointed out that we talk and think the same way. I only met Jake two years ago in track, when a pulled hamstring injury caused Mr. Kellerman to have me practice with the long distance kids. Mr. Kellerman forced me into staying on the long distance team and that is where I started to hit it off with Jake. It took me a long time to be comfortable with Jake, but when I did we quickly found our common interests.
SGT. Barrett and I contacted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot that was parked in an unlit area at approximately 2300 hours. Once outside of our vehicle I started flanking toward the right side of the white Nissan Maxima, as the windows were darked out. SGT. Barrett went to the driver side of the vehicle, where the door was ajar, with a male sitting in the driver's seat with his feet planted on the ground I heard what sounded like a dense metal object fall onto the pavement from the driver's side of the vehicle.
As the late Hunter S. Thompson said, “Music has always been a matter of Energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio.”
I am a pioneer! My pioneer story isn’t your average Latter Day Saint pioneer story, as far as historical LDS stories go! I was raised by goodly parents, I was born and raised in Spokane Washington. I am the youngest of three children born to Jim and Shannon Newell. My brother James is the oldest and four years older than myself.

Joining band had an immense and almost immediate impact on my life. Before being in band I had never had a talent that I felt completely confident in. I enjoyed practicing and spent many hours trying to improve my musical ability. In
To the average person, the high school marching band is nothing more than a bunch of geeks that play during half time at the football games or monopolize the benches by the band hall, but to me, it is so much more. To me it is a family, a safe haven, a creative outlet, a home. I have been involved in marching band for three years, going on four, and I wouldn 't trade the experience for anything. When I entered high school as a scared and awkward freshman, I immediately had three hundred people that I could rely on. The program quickly became like a second home to me and opened up a whole new path in my life.
I have witnessed a classmate of mine being teased whenever she spoke up about anything in class. She could say a comment or an answer and people would smirk. I am not saying I am completely innocent myself because at times I would do the same. Then I realized it was a continuation and not just playing around anymore and that her feelings were getting hurt. When I realized that I started calling people out on it.
Life at Valley Forge Brave, have no fear of someone or something. American soldiers represent bravery. The huts of the soldiers were very long and wide. The fireplace was in acceptable condition. No beds in the huts just straw and mud.
As I peer through the thick smoke, reminding myself why I chose to come in the first place, I see a half dead man on the floor- begging for water. We don’t have enough food or clothes. There are very few of us left to fight against the redcoats. Even though on some days we are cheerful, we are starving and freezing. I am wondering if I should re-enlist or go back home.
Maybe catching Pokemon and shooting zombies could be more beneficial than just a recreational activity for free time. One reason that video games can improve one's academic qualities is that they can make a person more sociable, increase communication abilities, and improve interpersonal skills with others. Video games have been shown to increase one's cooperation with others as well as boost "social skills, good peer relationships, and great achievement in school"(Kara Loo). Music has always been a part of my life. In definition, it is “vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.” Ever since I was a young child, I have loved music. The strong, steady beats, the entrancing melodies, and the lyrics that vary between heartwarming and heart-wrenching have always had an unexplainable effect on my life. Music seems to have the ability to change certain aspects of my world.
Studies have shown that video games actually help students become social. “70% of all gamers play with someone else on the internet. ”(Devnath). When I was a kid, my cousin/godbrother and I really love playing video games. Video games were like an everyday drug we need to stay alive. Without video games we would have been very bored, especially when no one outside to play with. Whenever a new video game got released we will find any kind of way to get that game, but we had got a unique lessen after this and it was patience. 10 years ago, my mother was a single parent with three kids same with my aunts
