In his 1985 KERA presidential address, Lee Shulman identified a special domain of teacher knowledge, which he referred to as pedagogical content knowledge. He distinguished between content as it is studied and learned in disciplinary settings and the “special amalgam of content and pedagogy” needed for teaching the subject. These ideas had a major impact on the research community, immediately focusing attention on the fundamental importance of content knowledge in teaching and on pedagogical content knowledge in particular. Shulman defined pedagogical content knowledge as: The most useful forms of representation of those ideas, the most powerful analogies, illustrations, examples, explanations and demonstrations in a word, the most useful ways of representing and formulating the subject that makes it comprehensible to others. Pedagogical content knowledge also includes an understanding of what makes the learning of specific topics easy or difficult: the conceptions and preconceptions that student of different ages and background bring with them to the learning of the most frequently topics and
Additionally, the researcher reviewed the progress of the instructional strategies, as well as provided additional modeling when deemed necessary. Finally, the researcher compiled and analyzed all data points to determine if there was enough evidence to support the belief that employing elementary practices at the high school level had a positive impact of student engagement and achievement. It is important to the researcher that students are engaged and excelling academically on a daily basis. If the latter activities are occurring, teaching and learning are most assuredly taking place, and if teaching and learning are taking place, student success and achievement will be

Sierra Brinkley Mrs. Huffine HE2SP March 27, 2018 Recess Children are like fireplaces, they are constantly being filled and soaked with tons of important information. If you shut off the flue, the vigorous fire you spent much time building will have nowhere to vent. Smoke will overflow everywhere, too thick to see, with no where to go. This is exactly how children feel when they are bombarded with excessive amounts of information, with absolutely where to vent and let go. Recess grants adolescents with independence, social skills, physical activity, and a way to express themselves.
I incorporate this learned experience daily and learn through each success and discovered area of improvement. Addressing my students needs using a variety of assessment tools has been a beneficial practice to help guide instruction. Students have different learning styles and their strengths and weaknesses are not always apparent using the same methods of assessment. Utilizing formative, standards(goal)-based, anecdotal, observational and benchmarks has driven my instructional programs. The combination of different assessments provides me with a multi-dynamic perspective of my students allowing me to better understand their strengths, weakness and academic needs.

It is a very common teaching strategy, relying on strict lesson plans and lectures with little or no room for variation. Direct instruction does not include activities like discussion, recitation, seminars, workshops, case studies, or internships. DI is probably the most popular teaching strategy that is used by teachers to facilitate learning. It is teacher directed and follows a definite structure with specific steps to guide pupils toward achieving clearly defined learning outcomes. The teacher maintains the locus of control over the instructional process and monitors pupils ' learning throughout the process.
I will be flexible and open to changing my teaching style whenever it is needed. It is about what works for the student. Whatever method is chosen, it will not be the teacher talking and the kids passively listening. Students should be encouraged to reflect on the information at hand and think critically.
