It is the camaraderie Nando and his teammates have amongst themselves that allows them to pick one another up and help each other survive. Their time in the cordillera formed an unbreakable bond that can only be formed when people share in a near death experience. The depth of this friendship is truly expressed when Roberto says, “You and I are friends, Nando. We have been through so much. Now let’s go die together” (Parrado 203) shortly after they reached the summit of Mount Seler. Roberto and Nando were about to embark on the final leg of their journey to find help, not knowing what obstacles were ahead nor if they would ever return to their fellow survivors alive. At this moment, Nando has reached his resurrection point in his journey: “the polarities that were in conflict at the beginning are finally resolved” (“The Hero’s Journey”). Standing there on top of that mountain, he discovered the true power of love which is “the treasure won by facing death” (“The Hero’s Journey”) in his Hero's Journey. With this insight, Nando no longer questions his purpose on the mountain or the meaning of life. This is the knowledge that Nando will carry with him for the rest of his life and eventually share with the world: “Only love can turn mere life into a miracle, and draw precious meaning from
Heroes are defined by many characteristics and experiences. Traits such as courage and selflessness, or the adventure he embarks on could show that one is a true hero. Rob Reiner’s movie “The Princess Bride” contains characters which possess qualities that are of an archetypal hero, such as Inigo Montoya. After his father’s brutal murder by the six-fingered man, Inigo spends his life searching for his killer so he may bring his father’s spirit to rest. Inigo Montoya’s experience with common archetypes, his quest along the Hero’s Journey, and the heroic qualities he possesses aids in portraying him as an archetypal hero.
Epic Hero A deceased, decorated mythologist, author, and lecturer named Joseph John Campbell once said, "A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself." A hero doesn't always have special powers or magical capabilities like you may think. You could walk by a hero every day of your life and could never know. In the film, A Princess Bride, directed by Rob Reiner, an example of an epic hero is the protagonist, Westly because he put others before himself, went through the hell-like journey of a hero, and went through events that changed him forever. First, Westly is a hero because he put others before himself.
A hero is a person admired for his qualities or deeds. These individuals have impacted others by performing extraordinary acts. Every hero has left a legacy that has affected many lives in a positive way. When thinking of heroism, Louis Zamperini comes to mind for his courageous and selfless actions.
There he was a 17 year old boy going to jump into freezing water. That he could possible die in and stay there for ever after he jumped a lifeboat picked him up and saved him when he got on the bout they were packed like sardines as the stern was up in the air nobody moved for fear to fall over. That big quote helped me feel like I was jumping of the bout and pulled up into a lifeboat where I am jammed in pack together as tight a sardinians. Not knowing where his parents were they could be dead or freezing in the water. As you can see these quotes in the story made you feel like you were there and going through this tragedy.
Many challenges come with being home-schooled, like not making friends and being around them all the time. Imagine being home-schooled for the first five years of your life and then being thrown into a normal school in the fifth grade. Going to school for the first time is stressful all by itself, but being way different from everyone is even more stressful. Small ears, droopy eyes, and a headset, all things we are not used to seeing on an average individual’s face. August Pullman cannot walk into a room without people turning their heads and staring at him, most people even get frightened when meeting him for the first time.
A hero is a person that takes action, be it lending a hand or saving a life. with a compassionate and honest heart without expecting anything in return. According to
“What is a hero? Is a hero someone who has a super power? Is a hero a fictional character who fights battles against the evil? Or is a hero an ordinary person who continuously cares for the well-being of others and is always finding a way to help others. In my opinion, a hero is someone that takes risks when faced with a problem and helps others in the goodness of their hearts. Not to mention a hero is also someone who can give strength to others and save someone who is in danger.
The definition of a hero varies from one person to another. Our society made people think that heroes are only the ones they see on television, and they have to have supernatural powers, but actually not all heroes wear capes. A hero is considered a hero by many aspects. A hero is someone who stands to make a difference, who is not afraid to make a stand, who is brave enough to fight for his/her beliefs, and who has a vision of change. Moreover, looking carefully at any movie from any century or even culture, a person finds out that it usually tells a story about a hero’s journey; therefore, almost every story out there follows a certain pattern and go through all the same stages.
Heroes in our society are revered and respected as Joseph Campbell reminds us: “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” (Joseph Campbell). Heroes exist in all societies and throughout history. Maybe they are not always on the news or from the movies, but their words and their actions never fail to resonate across their feats. A hero gives of himself and dedicates himself to causes which better others and their society unlike individuals who are self serving, greedy, and cruel.
There are a lot of American comic heroes, but how can describe a characteristic of a hero. However, have you ever met a hero? Stephen Crane published one of ironic hero story which is “A Mystery of Heroism.” This short story questions how can heroism be defined. Also, this is about one of the young man named Fred Collins who is in the middle of the meadow where is a war front, surrounded by the noise of guns and shouts.
Debi Mazar is an actress who stated, “A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tried to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really, deeply cares.” Heroes are relevant to everyone, because at some point, everyone has had a hero. Sadly, today’s society degrades the meaning of the word “hero”. Heroes are an important aspect of life, but famous people are not always heroes.
