Sports is everything to me, it gets me through life, teaches me lessons, and makes me who I am. My first sport that I ever played was baseball. Whenever me and my family went to the park it was to do drills and play baseball. Being the youngest and believe it or not the shortest it seemed that's all we did.
My dad would pick me up from school, sometimes early, and we would ride the bart station 45 minutes to the Ballpark. After my first visit, I fell in love with the game of baseball. I was drawn to the game for those defining characteristics that set baseball apart. The individuality, constant strategies, the history, but most of all, its timelessness. Living in a world that is so worried about time and constant change, baseball has been the one thing I have felt completely drawn too.

I have played hockey for 13 years and have let hockey practically shape my life. The textbook “Interpersonal Communication” by Sarah Trenholm and Arthur Jensen has a quote about forming identities that can be applied to me “Identities are not always given however, some people create their own identities throughout life by their lifestyle and activities. (45)” That quote can be applied to my own life because I wasn’t born and ready to play hockey. None of my immediate family played and the only reason I started

Mistaken Identity Basketball is my favorite sport. I admire the courage and admiration exhibited by players each night when they step out on the court but there was one player who stood out from the rest. He was John Simmons. John was everyone’s favorite player. He was the type of player who could bring a crowd just by coming to your neighbourhood.
