We advertised training shoes called Monitors that are specifically designed for athletes who suffer from overpronation. According to SportsInjuryClinic.net excess pronation causes overuse type injuries. The lower leg, knee, and thigh all rotate medially. The rotation increases the pressure on the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the foot, lower leg, and knee. Common injuries of overpronation include shin splints, anterior compartment syndrome, patello-femoral pain syndrome, plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome, bunions, and achilles tendonitis according to sportsinjuryclinic.net. Usually the foot is corrected with an orthotic device. Ethos is an appeal to ethics, and also persuades the person viewing the commercial. We showed ethos in our commercial by the way that from when they kids to when they grew up they continued to play their sport. It shows that they have many years of experience and have made great strides wearing the shoes. …show more content…
In our commercial we are showing logos in several different ways. We are using logic by showing that people who are athletes and are very active often will find some themselves with some type of injury from constant pounding with their feet. According to American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 1 in 10 people have plantar fasciitis, one of the most painful type of foot troubles. With our Monitor shoe’s they will solve these problems providing the necessary padding to reduce stress and injury on the feet and legs. Pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. The motivation to work out and the feeling they get when they work out shows their dedication towards something they feel passionate about. While working out, running or just training for something that you love brings back your childhood memories from when you began to fall in love with the activities you are passionated for
Give Them What They Want Juliet Macur is the author of a well written article “With Turf, Women See Unequal Footing”, an article about how the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) is fighting to get the FIFA, or Fédération Internationale de Football Association, to change the surface the teams will be playing on during the World Cup in Canada during the summer of 2015. Throughout the article Juliet Macur uses pathos, ethos, and logos to describe the situation the USWNT and others national teams are fighting against. Macur used examples and quotes throughout the article that make the reader stop and question what is truly going on. (Macur 1)

April 12th, 2015, Easter Sunday, in the LDS General Conference Jeffery R. Holland, Elder of Quorum of the Twelve Apostles bore his testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Holland was born into the church, studied the Christianity faith, occupied as Institute teacher in the Church Educational System and was called to serve as an apostle by the prophet on June 23, 1944. Elder Holland testimony is bore to the members of the LDS church and non-members worldwide through the location of the meeting, television and radio broadcasting. Elder Holland's purpose was to give information and/or answer questions about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, also to explain how it can help us with returning to Heavenly Father in the highest celestial glory. Elder Holland uses the
All authors, at varying levels, write with purpose. Ever written work has a purpose, varying from artistic creativity to academic and professional curiosity. Although the purpose is evident to the author, the reader may find difficulty determining what that purpose is. In the case of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) public release on Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), the document’s purpose, as well as its intended audience, can be determined through an introspective analysis. One can use the three rhetorical appeals of logos, pathos, and ethos to determine the purpose of the CDC’s document, and give one’s self insight into the audience for which it is intended.
This also is based on pathos because it's all about emotion and the tragic event. For example “Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, know that there is no hope for their recovery.” this appeals to Logos because there wasn't a way to get them back. It shows reasoning on why he said this because if anything went wrong the crowd wouldn't have hope, but would know they knew from the start. This also appeals to pathos due to the fact it controls the audience's emotion.
If someone asked me what pathos, logos, or ethos was I would think they were crazy making up words. Methods of development would have sounded like some process of evolving for animals. Going through Advanced Composition I now understand these once foreign concepts and can incorporate them into my own writing to better the paper by fixing prior mistakes and found a part of writing that I thoroughly
Pathos in an Advertisement Almost everywhere, on t.v channels. , on the Internet, in the folded sheets of a newspaper, an advertisement will appear. Advertisements are one way for a company, speaker, or a person to reach out to a particular audience to get a message across. The messages that are trying to be relayed to the audience can range from a huge issue of trying to change somebody’s belief about a certain issue, to something smaller such as trying to get somebody to get out of their comfort zone and eat something new for lunch. However, in order to get a person to stop what they’re doing and focus in on the message that’s trying to be conveyed, the person needs to relate to their specified audience.
the least ineffective rhetorical appeal is "logos"although there may be some logic in saying hi to a person when you see them most people do not say hello back to you. When i was younger i said hello to everyone i meet but there were always people that did not respond back. The reason why they did not respond back is because they didn't care or were not feeling to well to say hi. Most people say hi to send back the generosity of someone greeting them, others don't and just leave and smash your generosity on the ground. pathos is the main rhetorical appeal therefor other people use "hello" in everyday conversations.
Stevenson used pathos when he gives the detailed visit that he had with Henry. To get his point across the author emotionally convinces his readers by introducing Henry. While Stevenson was at the prison talking to Henry in private visitation room a very angry guard walks in and start to handcuff Henry. Full of rage the guard notifies Stevenson that he had taken two extra hours instead of one hour that he has initially requested. Stevenson can only stand helplessly and watch how “[t]he guard was shoving him toward the door roughly.
Furthermore, they’ve committed their lives to the gym. Consequently, their dedication paid off. I have always loved sports. I try my very best to work hard at them. The hard work that I have put in and the lessons I have learned, have helped shape who I am today.
1. Pathos is a term which appeals to emotion. It convinces an audience by creating feelings that already reside in them. Pathos is presented in the opening of “ A New Perspective” written by Janice E. Fein when the narrator talks about going to kindergarten. She mentions how her mother “is walking me to kindergarten” which appeals to the audience since it brings up memories of how their mother or father must have walked them to kindergarten too.
These tools are utilized in the commercial for persuading the viewers of its reason, creating an image of credibility surrounding its name, as well as generating an emotional response. “Aristotle’s ‘ingredients for persuasion’ – otherwise known as ‘appeals’ – are known by the names of ethos, pathos, and logos.
Dodge Ram used pathos by appealing to the audience emotions (Defining Emotional Appeal-Boundless Open Textbook) . Dodge tried to persuade the viewer showing that their truck can withstand the daily vigorous job duties a farmer can endures. Ram shows in their commercial that their truck can withstand the many hours of use and hauling heavy livestock. The commercial does not provide facts of the strength and durability. The commercial did not influence me to buy a Dodge Ram.
Squatty Potty Is it hard for you to poop? Squatty Potty has helped thousands fix that problem. The process for this speech was as follows, first was to decide what the speech topic would be. You gave me the idea of travel insurance during a conversation about the informative speech. Next was the research phase. I did find some articles using a database search of the HACC library and then used Google to check out some of the companies that provide insurance and what information was available. I then started on the preparation outline following the example of Monroe’s Motivated Sequence that you had provided us.
