Cyber Bullying Outline

Bullying occurs every day due to social pressures, cultural insensitivity, and learned behaviors during formative years, and therefore is a pervasive issue that affects both the bully and the bullied, causing self-esteem issues, mental health problems, delay of social skills, and should be addressed and prevented by parents. Bully is a very widespread problem and affect many individuals, especially students. One out of every five students report being bullied (Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center, 2016). Victims must learn to stand up for themselves. Consequences need to be required when it comes to bullying.

I believe that districts should take a comprehensive approach to bullying. There should be collaboration between school administrators, teachers, parents and students to tackle bullying. In addition, school administrators should encourage victims and student witnesses to report bullying. Synopsis: In a recent “Daily News” piece, a news reporter was threatened by high school students attending Bronx High School of Science. The reporter wrote an article in the newspaper and the school staff found out about the situation. The principal apologizes to the reporter and is trying to keep the situation under control with the help of the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the Department of Education (DOE). A student that was a part of this article was bullied and the parent told three school officials and had to pull the student out of the school because there was no action taken place to prevent future incidents similar to what the student experienced.

McClatchy writes for a national newspaper in Minnesota and is currently drawing attention to cyber bullying. She explores new methods to combat this new type of bullying, which is derived from the internet. This article provides examples on several solutions that have been employed by different states to resolve the issue. Many state governments have come up with new laws requiring schools to construct policies to counter cyber bullying. The article also quotes a professor from John Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public health; he states that the increased usage and reliance on the Internet and smartphones will have a big impact towards cyber bullying.

In Madera High School, physical bullying and harassment may not occur often but on social media there is plenty of it, however, it is not always noticeable that it is bullying cause teenagers find it funny but it can really hurt the victim 's actions. Part 6: Important laws for teachers In the education setting a lot of things can happen that is beyond the control of an educator or administrator to stop. Due to the high levels of responsibility that is given to educators and the multiple black and white and gray areas that exist within any conflict or dispute that, it is important to have laws and regulations that protect and aid educators in these situations. These laws cover multiple subjects and one of these topics is bullying and how to handle bullying within the school. Chapter 7: Why Current Anti-Bullying Strategies Fail My greatest inspiration for writing this book was to bring some more insight about truths we find hard to recognize or speak about. Bullying can happen to anyone. Bullying is an aggressive or unwanted behavior that is being repeated to isolate, harm, or control other people. There are different types of bullying. Like, cyber, verbal, and physical bullying.

Bullying is a really big problem among teens. Some people don’t know what bullying isso here is a brief explanation on what it is, bullying is when someone uses their strength to harmsomeone who is weaker. That is the simplest way to describe bullying, there are many more waysthat people could describe what bullying is. That is just the general definition of physical bullying but there are different types ofbullying like verbal, cyber, and social bullying. Verbal bullying is when someone talks trash orbad about someone.

Bullying in Schools What seems fun and harmless for some students, is painful and degrading to others. Bullying has been a critical issue around schools, but before it was not as dangerous and know as it is now. These do not means bullying was not happening, it means it was not taken into consideration by parents or teachers. They thought it was just peer pressure or a kids game, and sooner or later the kids would be friends again. At one point, bullies think it’s normal to be mean and abusive to other students.

Bullying is a widespread problem in our schools and communities and has a negative impact on students’ right to learn in a safe and secure environment without fear. It is a process in which one person repeatedly uses his/her superior strength or influence to mistreat, attack or force another person to do something (Van der Werf, 2014). Bullying or peer victimization is now recognized as a complex and pervasive problem (Beran, 2009). It is an ongoing problem that is not restricted by age, race, gender or class. This behavior generally takes one of four forms, physical such as assault, verbal which involves threats or insults, social which entails exclusion or rumor spreading, and cyber which includes aggressive texts or social network posts

Schools with effective approaches educate their students on bullying, and create strict guidelines to follow with serious consequences if not followed. Granada Hills Charter High School has a strong anti-bullying policy, where students are required to adhere to a series of rules which strictly enforce bullying. Should a bully be present, the school enforces strict “disciplinary action if the bullying action negatively affects the school environment, the victim’s attendance, the victim’s feelings about him- or herself, and/or the learning experience” (Granada Hills Charter High School). If a student were to experience these effects, then the bully would be held to specific consequences such as counseling, detention, a parent-student dean conference, referral to school police with possible arrest, suspension, or recommendation for expulsion. The University of North Carolina conducted a systematic review of different anti-bullying policies, and concluded that “anti-bullying policies might be effective at reducing bullying if their content is based on evidence and sound theory and if they are implemented with a high level of fidelity” (Hall).
