On Monday, February 29, 2016, I interviewed Dr. K. Wallace, District Administrator for Jefferson County Public School District. The interview was on the topic of ethical fairness in education. Dr. Wallace discussed the issue of bullying in public education. He indicated that bullying is becoming an increasing problem for educators. According to Dr. Ross, administrators must strike a balance in respecting the rights of students and eradicating acts of bullying.
Dr. Wallace said that children learn valuable lessons in school that they will apply in the classroom setting as well as in different aspects of life. These lessons are usually learned through interactions with their instructors and classmates. However, certain experiences and lessons such as bullying can leave a negative effect on students and can have an impact on how they view education and life. Dr. Wallace pointed out that there

If a student is found guilty of bullying, he or she may be expelled or placed in alternative school. The school district notes that harassment and bullying of students and employees are against federal, state and local policy, and are not tolerated by the Jefferson County School Board. The Jefferson County School Board is committed to providing all students with a safe and civil school environment in which all members of the school community are treated with dignity and respect.
Bullying is s major concern that must be addressed. I believe that districts should take a comprehensive approach to bullying. There should be collaboration between school administrators, teachers, parents and students to tackle bullying. In addition, school administrators should encourage victims and student witnesses to report bullying. Research also suggests that providing supervision in hallways and other areas can help to reduce bullying on and off campus. School leaders must always act on bullying reports and keep proper
I am confused where the representation and concern for the union teachers is. Harassment and bullying is not tolerated by students and is documented on the news all over the country when it occurs. It is time to step in and remove the bullies – administration at Pineloch Elementary. The teachers should not be going home crying, worrying about being harassed or have to take medical leave to seek professional help.
In Madera High School students on an average mentioned that the staff members in this school did not handle bullying and harassment to the expectations. On average 125 students chose from a scale 1-10 that the school handled bullying and harassment from a 3-5, ten being perfectly handled. A student who was a victim mentioned, “ It made me feel scared and it made me fear interacting with new people. I did not go to someone for help I went to my teacher for help but she did not really help”(Anonymous). This student obviously tried to talk to an adult and explain what she was going through and how severely did bullying affect her.
Due to the rise of bullying lawsuits and student suicides, state legislators plan to take action by implementing new rules in schools and harsh punishments to those who instigated bullying in the first place. Outside of school, bullying cases in the military and the national league football has drawn more awareness regarding bullying taken place at work. Opponents of the some antibullying laws say it unfairly targets certain student regarding their race and religion with harsh punishments and misconception of the meaning bullying. Pros of antibullying laws says most of the laws lack funding to enforce these requirements in schools. Important Points Made by Author(s): 1.
Synopsis: In a recent “Daily News” piece, a news reporter was threatened by high school students attending Bronx High School of Science. The reporter wrote an article in the newspaper and the school staff found out about the situation. The principal apologizes to the reporter and is trying to keep the situation under control with the help of the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the Department of Education (DOE). A student that was a part of this article was bullied and the parent told three school officials and had to pull the student out of the school because there was no action taken place to prevent future incidents similar to what the student experienced.
In conclusion, bullying and harassment is serious. We need to find common ground and acceptance to help end it. We need to remind those who are different that difference is okay and we should embrace it.
Bullies are usually stronger and victims are usually perceived as weaker and unable to protect themselves.” (Masterson,1997) Bullying expands in many aspects of everyday life; from schoolchildren and teenagers, to adults , working environments and even spouses and family members. Considering that the first signs of bullying appear among schoolchildren, we should examine it in its infancy, that is, bullying in early years and school life, which in turn becomes with the passage of years violence and in some cases even crime. As far as bullying at school is concerned, “one definition is that a student is being bullied or victimized, when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time , to negative actions on the part of one or more other students.”
Bullying is an undesirable, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves actual disparity of power. According to Megan Brooks bullying is a serious public health problems, with significant short-and long-term psychological consequences for the child who is bullied and the child who is the bully. This only tells us that bullying can lead to difficulty that a certain children may experience and will have either short or long term problem. “Bullying has long been tolerated as a rite of passage among children and adolescents, but it has lasting, negative consequences and cannot simply be ignored.” Committee chair Frederick Rivera, MD.

Recently, bullying has been becoming more and more of an issue. It’s gotten so bad that one out of four kids deal with it. Currently, bullying is worldwide. There’s no place where it began, because it’s pretty much human nature. Many people are trying to stop it, whether by using zero-tolerance policies, small punishments, and more, however, nothing has worked so far.
Others try to “rehabilitate” those who have been caught bullying. Incorporating both of these programs into a school campaign will achieve the best results. In order for these anti-bullying programs to be effective, teens need to be willing to speak up and report bullying cases to teachers. They should not stand around the hallways and not do anything. They need to understand what bullying is, and they need to understand that it does not just occur in the schoolyard.
Bullying has been named an “emerging public health issue requiring intervention” (Ansary, Elias, Greene, & Green, 2015, p. 27). As a major problem in schools around the world, the issue of bullying must be addressed in order to keep students physically and emotionally safe. The act of bullying not only affects the well-being of the person being targeted, but it also affects the rest of the school community too. It can be difficult for teachers, principals, and superintendents to make an ethical decision about what to do when bullying occurs because there are misunderstandings about what bullying is, leading to the improper identification of situations.
I believe that people can handle bully and parent and teachers need to get involved in a situation. There are many different ways' people can handle bully. One of the ways that you can handle bully is to stand up to yourself and feel that you are brave and confident person. Kids some times stand up to their self and that is a right thing to do.
Bullying in Schools What seems fun and harmless for some students, is painful and degrading to others. Bullying has been a critical issue around schools, but before it was not as dangerous and know as it is now. These do not means bullying was not happening, it means it was not taken into consideration by parents or teachers. They thought it was just peer pressure or a kids game, and sooner or later the kids would be friends again. At one point, bullies think it’s normal to be mean and abusive to other students.
The numbers of bullied children are increasing as well as the victims, bullying don’t only affect the victims, but the bully’s and every one surrounding them (DecemberStone, n.d.). Bullying can affect the children personality, cases problems in the society, and it also gives a bad idea for the outsiders about our culture. Anyhow, it got to stop. We have to control bullying, and it have to start with those high school young people, even if its parent, teacher,
Bullying Can Be Prevented Bullying is a form of violence to pick on victims because they are different from their bullies, have insecurity/jealousy or home problems. The hate towards their victim has something to do with the victim having an unusual gift or being intelligent the bullies has yet to become. It is important that this behavior should be prevented or it will become worse. Bullying is one of the main issues public and private schools have to face on a day-to-day basis. When the bully takes it too far, the victim snaps and retaliates by fighting him/her back physically or verbally.
