Some believe not noticing race will end racism, while other believe not noticing their privilege will end racism. Changing racism, requires a lifetime commitment. Being a friend to a person of Color, going to school with people of Color, living in neighborhoods with people of Color or blame people of Color is not the answer to ending racism. Education about the complexity of racism is key to ending racism (Sensory & DiAngelo, p. 124). Every country on this beautiful sphere that we call earth has its own view on society. All countries around the world views America as being the land of the free and the land of being able to express yourself, but their just looking through a microscope .Whether those countries know it or not America has flaws. One of Americans biggest flaw is racial discrimination against people of color. When Jim Crow laws were introduced in the 1890’s it had a lasting effect on people of color socially, mentally, and their opportunities.

Racism is the isolation of different race/races and is the viewed as one race or shade of skin has more physical/mental limits than another. It relies on upon the attitudes of one or more people considering the accepted pervasiveness of one social affair over the expected inferiority of another. Racism is a continuing battle for people of color because they are considered the “inferior” race by many. The reason for this is because America was built on white slave owners. People of color were pretty much always considered the “inferior” race because white people though they were entitled to owning everything, including people. But some don’t see people as being inferior because of their race. Some don’t “see” race at all; to them, they are just people.

The National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People was formed on February 12th, 1909. It was formed due to the horrific events of lynching and the 1908 race riot in Springfield. They were horrified by the violence against Blacks, a group of white liberals called for a meeting to discuss racial justice. Approximately 60 people, 7 of whom were African Americans, signed the call which was released on the centennial of Lincoln’s birth. The NAACP’s primary goal was to secure for all people the rights guaranteed in the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments to the United States Constitution, which had promised to end slavery, the equal protection of the law and universal adult male suffrage, respectively.

Racism is problematic because it is normal and has been happening for 148 years after the 245 years that blacks were enslaved. Racism is hard to recognize unless it is blatant.   This problem is significant to me because i refuse to grow old and have my children be subject to oppression  and racism.  I have a strong belief that the system will refuse to change on it 's on and that issues surrounding race do not become proprieties.

My topic i will be writing about will be on African Americans. The reason why i picked this topic was because of their history. All African american live change during the years. All africans became slaves, many white folks own african Americans. Some were even KILLED or HARM if they didn’t follow the orders they were told to do.

When you look at me what do you see? To society, I’m a black female who fits the stereotypical “wanna-be” black female wanting to have white hair textures. They watch carefully as I walk past them; afraid of my “black girl capabilities” solely based off of stereotypes that have been carelessly passed down from generation to generation. They think, “She’s probably unhappy with her dark complexion”. They wonder, “Why does she look so angry, it’s probably just another angry black woman.”

Racism is a part of American history that can never be forgotten; a dark past that shows the constant mistreatment of African-Americans. Although African-Americans were freed from slavery in the 1860’s, discrimination continues to be seen today. Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one 's own race is superior. The white supremacy woven into mainstream American culture led to the continued widespread exclusion of African-Americans.

Discrimination based on skin color, or colorism, is a form of prejudice or discrimination in which human beings are treated differently based on their skin color. The abundance of colorism is a result of the global prevalence of the term used to describe societies in which wealth and social status are influenced by skin color. This form of prejudice often results in reduced opportunities for those who are discriminated against on the basis of skin color. Colorism can be found specifically in parts of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. African American journalist Jill Nelson quoted that "to be both prettiest and black was impossible”

This chapter explains the difference between race and ethnicity and how they came about. It also explains the advantages and disadvantages some have due to the creation of race. Race and ethnicity have strong foundations not only within countries, but between them. Globalization has increased the individual’s ethnic identities, but has also put some at disadvantages. Having different races and ethnicities is not an issue, but ranking the different races and putting others at disadvantages creates issues.

Colorism is a way to discriminate against others who have a darker skin tone among people who are in the same race or ethical group. Colorism has been around for countless years and has affected numerous people by forcing them to change themselves just to be able to fit in with the rest of society’s standards. Colorism and racism are different from each other because racism involves two people that come from different background races but have identical skin colors. Meanwhile colorism involves two people of the same race but with different skin colors. Colorism has been making people feel ashamed about their skin color and people buying skin care products to make their skin look lighter and not that many people know how it affects a person

Racism is an ever growing issue in the world, and something we can’t hide behind. According to dictionary.com the defintion of racism is: “the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” Race was created socially by how people perceive ideas and faces people are not used to yet. It is the “hatred” of one person to another individual, solely based on that person's belief that the person is inferior because of their language, birthplace and skin colour. Racism is an issue that has lasted throughout history, providing justification for a group’s dominance over another.

It is an understatement to say that people of color have been oppressed and discriminated against on the account of the color of their skin and that the people’s different religions have not been respected. Provocations! Eventually the dripping drops will fill the bucket. You know the rest! The liquid will overflow, just as it has been recorded in the most recent history that sees the continent 's population shifting from the eastern parts of the world and Africa into Europe.
