USC students are known to be involved. Briefly describe a non-academic pursuit (such as service to community or family, a club or sport, or work, etc.,) that best illustrates who you are, and why it is important to you. (250 word limit) Growing up, I was different from my peers. While my friends enjoyed playing in the park after finishing their homework, I entertained myself by creating things with my Lego sets. When I was in the sixth grade, my parents bought me a Lego Mindstorms NXT Robot that I could use with my Legos. This machine gave me the ability to take simple Lego pieces and program them into functional robots. Being able to program them was enthralling and opened up a whole new world of creating for me. Then in 11th grade, after …show more content…
I knew that whatever I did in life, it would have to be a combination of both of these passions. A great way to help others is through becoming a teacher, which was a viable option for me, but I felt that by one day being an entrepreneur it would allow me to not only help more people but also help the economy by creating more jobs. Aside from my desire to help others, I also have a passion to create. Creating helped me develop an interest in programming and through further practice and classes, I knew that majoring in Computer Science would provide me the best foundation to someday run my own …show more content…
I play a wide variety of fantasy sports, mainly fantasy basketball and fantasy football. I have been an avid sports fan for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I would spend my entire Sunday sitting in front of the TV watching Aaron Rodgers pick apart the NFL. Since then, I have also taken a liking for watching basketball. I enjoyed watching sports and felt that I could enhance my sports experience by playing fantasy sports. In 9th grade, I got a few of my friends together and joined my first fantasy football
After moving to the United States, he said the things he liked most about being here were “I don’t have any distractions.” When asked why, he stated, “Back home I have my family and friends; a social life. I also like the education here because I wouldn’t be where I’m at academically.” As a graduate student at ULM, Gabriel has had many academic challenges. One of these challenges were an extra-curricular on campus that, in the end, gave him a lot of satisfaction.
I started grid kid football when I was in 7th grade and I am still playing until this very day. I used to play lots of running back and wide receiver and some corner. My coaches really liked me and it was my first year and I already took people that been playing longer than me postions. Then one game we played firth it was a good game.the score was 12-14 they were up. I was on the sidelines waiting for coach to put me in as wide receiver.
I had ideas, but I didn’t have anything I was extremely passionate about yet. My junior year, while I was going through a rough patch in my life, I started to work at a daycare to get my mind off things and make a couple extra dollars. After only a couple shifts at the daycare, my passion was incredibly clear… teaching children. I was able to help children who needed me and it made me feel an incredible sense of worth at a time when I felt worthless. The way their problems were so small, the way they smile endlessly, and the way they were so innocent and untouched by the troubles of the world made me want to always be around them.
Other than academics, I have many other interests. After school I spend hours on the court with the Varsity tennis team and inside a studio, I train to become the strongest ballerina I can be. To balance out of stress, I escape myself into designing, volunteering, and experimenting, in the field of environmental
Important steps to start a fantasy football team are, first choosing what type of league you will be in. Second, getting a roster of players through a draft. Each week you set your lineup during the season, and watch the players on your team generate points. Players can get points by scoring touchdowns, intercepting the ball, and gaining yards. Your lineup is to be updated weekly.
Why not do both? I optimistically believe that I will find my true passion later on in my life, most likely while attending a university that aids in my
I was a linebacker for the Cuba Rams. The play that I was injured during was a hail mary play and we were hoping to win the game. I jumped to catch the ball and got hit so hard, while in the air, I fell to the ground and knew immediately I had injured my back. I grew up watching football in my hometown and on tv.
Research shows that people will have more success when they choose to study something they are passionate about in life. To uncover their passion, people should consider what they would do for free, and then find a degree that aligns with their
Finding one passion could be tricky. Sometimes we confuse passion with skills, passion is something that you do and enjoy no matter how tired or even if it doesn’t make you a millionaire. Skills are something that you are good at but you don’t enjoy, one will continue on this path because we need to pay our bills. This doesn’t make it right or wrong but we should be happy with ourselves doing what we enjoy.
Overall my research answered my research question which was: What are the main reasons behind the motivation to participate in fantasy football and why these are the motivations? When I initially started my research I wanted to find the one main reason people participate in fantasy football. As my research went on I had to modify to multiple motivations because there was no clear answer to my initial question. There were implications that the social aspect was the largest reasons but there was no clear answer in combination with my field research and interviews. The interviews leaned more towards social bonding but the field research weighed bonding, bragging rights, and competition equally.
As an active member in both my school and community I have taken part in many extracurricular activities and received many honors. I find it to be very important to live my life in a way that I am able to reach my fullest potential while giving back to others at the same time. Outside of school I participate in numerous activities. In the year of 2003, I began to take piano lessons. I pursued this and eventually had the opportunity to play in a church band.

M is for Madden I was about nine years old. My brother was getting ready to leave for college. He was spending his last couple of days with me before him and my step-dad left for the drive to California, where he was going to go to college. We have played basketball, played catch with our gloves and a baseball. It was the day before he left when I got the bright idea.
Eventually, I realized I wanted to be as passionate about my career as my mother was in her role as a school counselor. On the other hand, I was certain that I was not going to be a school counselor like my mother because
