Finding one passion could be tricky. Sometimes we confuse passion with skills, passion is something that you do and enjoy no matter how tired or even if it doesn’t make you a millionaire. Skills are something that you are good at but you don’t enjoy, one will continue on this path because we need to pay our bills. This doesn’t make it right or wrong but we should be happy with ourselves doing what we enjoy. One person that I admire is Sandra Lee she came from a very humble home and because her unstable status of life she was able to find her passion. My paper is going to give some background on her upbringing and how to become a household name. How she was able to reach the American dream through her passion. Please, the white chick came from money. Base on the responses it may me think about the book I read “Black Like Me”. Society hasn’t changed much. All three responses are correct but how it was expressed was the sadness realization. If we are to come together as one society, we should start learning from the mistakes. Sandra Lee Waldroop was born in Santa Monica California on July 3, 1966. Her parents Wayne Waldroop and Vicky Svitak were teen parents. As statistics have shown young teen parents don’t stayed together. Sandra’s parents were no exception. Her parents’ divorce two years later, Sandra was two years old. This month I am privileged to share an exclusive look into the life of Sandra Gathers, who I find to be extremely passionate and dedicated to all aspects of her life. Along with 3 sisters, Sandra was born and raised in Eutawville, SC. Most people are usually surprised to learn that she was raised on a working farm. Even though she had to work very hard as a young girl, it shaped the work ethics that she encompasses to this day. Sandra graduated from Holly Hill High where she was a member of the beta club, yearbook staff and library club.

Can a White Man Ever Fully Empathize with the Black Race? In his novel Black Like Me, John Howard Griffin tells his brave story of changing his skin color to experience racism. Griffin was born a white man and decided that he wanted to feel racism for himself. He did everything that he could to change the color of his skin. Although he did experience racism firsthand, he was only a temporary Negro for 6 weeks.
Mary Kenner seemed like the right fit for my essay, because her life was fascinating and inspiring. Mary Kenner held records, helped others, and proved herself to the world. Not only was she one of the five black women inventors I could find, she had the most patent awards. She had her family support her through her entire career.
She also had an older sister Lori. Jeannette was dad’s favorite girl, both were such loving great parent’s, before sober time had went by. On September 11, 2001, tragedy struck the city of New York. On that fateful day, two airplanes were hijacked by terrorists and flew straight into the twin towers. Each tower fell completely to the ground, taking thousands of lives with it and injuring thousands more. Not only did that day leave thousands of families without their loved ones, it also left an entire city and an entire country to deal with the aftermath of the destruction. Poet, Nancy Mercado, worries that one day people will forget that heartbreaking day.
but I also chose Jane Addams as well. One thing I truly admire from Jane was how she saw a problem and did not ignore it but did something to fix the problem such as the Hull House Settlement. Jane put herself in different situations to help her challenge herself and to grow from the different challenges to be role model for others to see (Seigfried,
That knowing having power, money, and the color of your skin your own choice could not make you happy. ““Say, buddy,” I says, “If I had your money, I’d be always having a good time.” “No, you wouldn’t,” said the white boy” (258). The short story ends with that exact realization for the narrator, “ What do you suppose is the matter with rich white folks? Why you reckon they ain’t happy?”
It has often been said that “that this is a greatest period for people of all races to live in.” Yet with change in society over time , there has a been a divide over the truth about that statement. In dialogue about race issues within the United States, one controversial issue has been about systemic racism towards people of colour, in particular, black americans. On one hand, Ralph Ellison, a recent predecessor to our present time argues that no matter what the future holds, people will judge others based on their association, their image, which will. In relation, a modern black activist group, Black Lives Matter, argues that even though change has come to America race relations, black people are still endangered by the system.

On top of that, she was able to pursue her dreams. She got her bachelor's degree in teaching and is now a teacher at a charter school in NYC. She has inspired me and showed me that hard work really does pay off. Another person who shows me that in order to get ahead in life is through hard work is my grandma. My grandma is a woman who came to this country to make life better for her ten children.
