Book Report On Night By Elie Wiesel

There is a very important person named Elie Wiesel. Elie Wiesel was a very important person that was in the Holocaust. He has wrote a book called “Night” describing his time during the Holocaust in (1941-1945). Throughout the Holocaust a lot of his life has changed. Elie Wiesel has a normal life before he went into the Holocaust.

In the book Night, the author describes his life being a prisoner for the Nazis. In this book, we are described with how Eli survived and what he and his father went through. We learn about how the prisoners were treated in the concentration camps. In the next two paragraphs, I will be sharing my opinion on what I think are the two most terrifying experiences the author, Eli, had to endure.

The book “Night”, written in 1960 by Elie Wiesel, is an autobiography that shows his experience with his father Shlomo during the Holocaust in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. This book is very popular and controversial due to its accurate account of the horrors which occurred during the Holocaust. Throughout the book, Elie Wiesel shows the themes “ Humans are capable of unimaginable evil” and “ The bond between a father and his son is very important” using deep symbolism and word choice.   In the book Night, Idek is the leader of Elie and his father's work unit and is known by many Jewish prisoners for his frequent bursts of rage.

The travel to Auschwitz was 2 days. It is estimated that fifteen of the twenty million casualties occurred in all the Nazis concentration camps. Some of the people that were fortunate enough to live were temporarily held as prisoners until liberation and or death. If people were fit to work, they were among the lucky ones, if not they were likely to be sent to the crematories or put in the gas chambers. Hitler killed and tortured many innocent people, and gained a following known as the Nazis. World War II lasted six years in Europe, however many people didn’t anything about it for years. Today people have technology and can communicate with others in a matter of seconds. However in 1939 this technology was not available and that lead to people being in the dark to what really was happening. I think the world didn’t do anything because they were scared and thought it was unbelievable or because they didn’t know in the first place.

Elie Wiesel, holocaust survivor and author of the memoir “Night”, tells us of his unimaginable, concentration camp experience during WWII in Auschwitz, Germany. As one of the minority of the Jewish holocaust survivors, he shares his appalling experience with us and the world, which should never be forgotten. In the spring of 1944, Elie Wiesel was an 15 year old boy, living in his hometown of Sighet, in Hungaryan Transilvania. In this time the Nazis occupied Hungary and thus Wiesels family, neighbors and friends.

In the memoir, ‘Night’ by Eliezer (Elie) Wiesel, he describes the terror that many Jews had experienced by having to get locked up in a camp of torture. The memoir was explaining the racism towards jews that took an extreme measure by Nazi troops to gather them all and take the position to slaughter each and everyone until there is none left. Elie built up his memories while staying in the camp but had the success to live through those terrible years and write about every detail that had occurred in his daily events in camps such as Auschwitz and Buchenwald. In Elie Wiesel's memoir, Night, it tells of his experiences and trials in the concentration camps. The book is the story of Eliezer as a younger boy who was taken to a concentration camp and then separated from his younger sister and mother. He is only left with his father, and Eliezer would do anything to keep it that way. His time in the concentration camp is one that would try anyone's sanity, let alone strength.

In May 1944, Nazi Germany, with Hungary’s agreement, forced Jews living in Sighet to be deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. At the age of 15, Wiesel and his entire family were sent to Auschwitz as part of the Holocaust, which took the lives of more than 6 million Jews. Wiesel was later sent to Buna Werke labor camp, a subcamp of Auschwitz III - Monowitz, with his father where they were forced to work in deplorable, un-human conditions. They, again, were transferred to other Nazi camps and force marched to Buchenwald where his father died after being beat to death by a German soldier, just three months before the camp was liberated. Wiesel’s mother and younger sister Tzipora also died in the Holocaust.

Eliezer “Elie” Wiesel has gone through thick and thin. Wiesel is a noted Holocaust survivor. He, at the time, was only 15 when he was taken away from his little Jewish community. While he was in concentration camps, many family members were killed. Despite all the horrific events that he faced, Wiesel was rescued and brought to safety.

The Holocaust was caused by Adolf Hitler was the worst thing ever and he killed people because they were Jews. According to article five in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “It states that no one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” Author (Elie Wiesel) of the novel Night refers that Idek fornicated a young Polish girl “Idek jumped, turned and saw me, while the girl tried to cover her breasts.

Night is the best title for this book, Darkness is all the Jews could see in the gas chambers. Night is the best title for this book because of the darkness,loneliness, and scariness the word night is associated with. The first example is when the Jews are being separated into 2 groups like cattle in chapter 3. Second example is when Eli and his father see the burning of little infants.
