The memoir Night captures the horrors of Elie Wiesel, a Jewish Holocaust survivor. In this beautifully crafted, riveting, and unforgettable book, the true meaning behind inhumanity becomes clear as Elie and his father are in a extremely cruel journey. The book depicts how awful conditions were and how they had to adapt to their environment to even have the slightest chance of survival. In the WWII era (1941-1945) times were difficult and most places involved with WWII were put in a state of economic depression, even more so in certain parts close to axis powers. There were 12 countries in WWII and they all spend ridiculous amounts of money for the war effort, as a result jobs that had to do with manufacturing things and others were shifted to producing war goods. Countries like Germany started hiring people people to work for the war effort and help with the manufacturing of goods. Soon they noticed a trend of poor Jewish families offering their work, that's when all the deportations began, quote “Strip!Fast!Los! The travel to Auschwitz was 2 days. It is estimated that fifteen of the twenty million casualties occurred in all the Nazis concentration camps. Some of the people that were fortunate enough to live were temporarily held as prisoners until liberation and or death. If people were fit to work, they were among the lucky ones, if not they were likely to be sent to the crematories or put in the gas chambers. Fortunate for Elie and his father with a bit of lying survival skills, they were sent to the side deemed fit and able to work until almost the end of their
The book Night is about escaping because it’s either that or death. In a couple times of the book they have a chance of escaping. Like when Moshe the beadle was crammed onto the cattle train he manages to escape. He came back running to house to house telling everyone about the trains. The trains would make their way into Poland then taken over by the gestapo.
The death march in Night by Elie Wiesel is started when all the prisoners were forced to leave the camp that they were at and relocate to a new camp. The night was very cold and snowy, and Elie’s foot was already hurt because of some pus that was in it. His only choice was to go on with the march on a hurt foot or stay in the camp and probably die anyways. He decided to go on the march because he wanted to be with his father and he didn’t want to die helplessly. At around six at night, the entire camp lines up in formation and they all started marching block by block.
Everything was happening according to plan” (Wiesel 84). All the Jews (including Elie) were gathered and organized into ranks. They were lined up for the march when he realized Hitler was fulfilling his promise to exterminate the Jews. “The gates of the camp opened. It seemed as though an even darker night was waiting
Night, a beautifully written book by Eli Wiesal. He tells the story of what went on in the Holocaust and the struggles he faced to live through it. Elie constantly gets abused and treated like a pest throughout the whole book. The holocaust changed him and almost made him lose his will to live, humanity, and his family. He still powered through until he got liberated by America.
In the years of the holocaust millions of people died. Including those of war prisoners and Jewish citizens. Several concentration camps were to blame because of this. Even though most did not live to the liberation there were a few lucky ones who survived and lived to tell about their experiences. Elie Wiesel spent his childhood in Auschwitz concentration camp, surrounded by death and misery, but managed to keep his head up and persevere through it.
The holocaust was one of, if not the, worst events in history, German soldiers killed six million Jewish men, women, and children, and even more were put into concentration camps. He was beaten, tested over and over for many months, and he was filled with trepidation, yet he kept going through it all.
Elie Wiesel is a young Jewish boy from Sighet. He is captured to be sent to ghettos and concentration camps where he is separated from his family. Elie manages to survive by staying under the radar and working hard. I agree with his strategy of trying not to stand out, doing the work, and being patient, the prisoners who cause trouble and are lazy tend to not make it. When Elie first arrives at Auschwitz

When Elie and his father are told this by the SS guard, they do not think they have a choice. They want to live. Elie is holding onto hope, and he thinks that they will be liberated soon, so along with the other prisoners, they decided to work. The Nazis just wanted to see the Jews suffer, so it did not matter whether the Jews were working hard jobs or being burned to death. Elie did not understand this at the time.
The Nazis forced everyone in the camp to work, to do things they wanted. The work they were doing was perilous, constantly working with little food. Elie had multiple jobs because of all the various Kommandos he was in at camp. Depending on the Kommando would determine the intensity of work someone had to do. Initially, Elie and his father had relatively simple work to accomplish.
