In this article, Command Sgt. Maj. Chris Faris and his wife Lisa Faris talk to an audience about the struggles they endured during their 22 year marriage. The show touched specifically on the issues that may come from not being at home and working long deployments. It is great to see that Command Sergeant Major Chris and his wife Lisa Faris are helping others through their tours, but also through radio as discussed in the podcast.
In the beginning, he had a very athletic body, because he did nothing else but run and train for the Olympics. Rumor had it that his legs were insured for $50,000! He was 5ft 9 and had brown hair. When he went into the military and survived the crash, because of the lack of food, he was a rack of bones. When he was placed in POW camps, his physical strength took a drastic dive.
He had to find a way to survive on his own. He got a taste of the real world. Nothing comes for free! He worked in many odd jobs including landscaping and factory work and often toyed with going back to the military lifestyle that he understood much better. He would look at his “brothers” who were still in the Army and wonder how his life may be different if he had stayed. Jonathan decided to take the school route and utilize the free education that he earned from his military career. He took some classes and of course he excelled. It seemed that everything came easy to Jonathan.

In addition to O’Brien’s theory on how to distinguish true vs false, Malcolm Gladwell also helps in differentiating the two by discussing the story about Bernie Goetz in his essay “The Power of Context.” Both the authors point out the main characteristics that needs to be noted in order to understand the difference between fact/ truth and belief/ cooked up story. First Dev had created a robot to do his chores for him but the robot had a few malfunctions along the way. While showing his creation to Greta the robot began flashing its lights and doing things on its own. However, Dev is a child though not knowing that something bad could happen with the robot. He missed a bunch of his teen years while in Rikers. For example, he harps on missing prom, graduation, parties, and all of these other things normal teenagers should do instead of going to Rikers. Afterward, he sued New York City for two million dollars for not respecting his right for a speedy trial as well as wrongful accusations. The search for jobs, as well as schools, were very difficult for him even though he was never officially charged. Luckily, he finally got into Bronx Community College, where he was a striving in school, yet he was still paranoid that police was always watching him.
