Jackie Robinson and his Life
Who was Jackie Robinson, what was he known for, and why was he important? These are the questions you may ask about Jackie Robinson. To begin, Jackie Robinson was an African American who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was known for breaking the color barrier in baseball. He was important because he stood for equal rights but that's not all the reasons why he was important. The main reason why he was important to history is because he broke the color barrier for Major League Baseball or the MLB.
Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo, Georgia. First, his family consisted of his father Jerry Robinson, his mother Mallie Robinson, and he was the youngest out of five other siblings. In his childhood, his father abandoned him at a young age (Reetz and Kinsella). In addition, one of his first jobs was that he sold newspapers and hotdogs at the Rose Bowl stadium. His actions in life help to break the color barrier in baseball. A color barrier is a barrier that does not allow colored people to do things that white people could do. One example of some of the actions he took to break the color barrier was that he was involved in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 60s (Pebble.Go). The Civil Rights Movement was a protest to make colored people have the same rights as white people. Another example of how he helped break the color barrier is that he took part in the army. This helped to break the color barrier because he contributed to fighting for the country so this made him get more respect. He shows us that anyone can do anything by becoming the first ever Professional African American baseball player in the minor leagues. He had a hard life in his childhood and persevered. Jackie Robinson, the name may sound familiar. He was the first Black athlete in professional baseball, and had stunning skills. Many were encouraged by him to give a shot at the things that they were good at, even if people were against them. However, he used his influence for other things, too. Jackie Robinson used his influence and support, as well as hard-work and dedication along with his outstanding courage to help change the standard of Black equality and rights in the United States.

Jackie Robinson is known to be one of the most influential people in baseball and in society. He eternally changed the aspect of American history. It was unusual to have a colored person be treated equally as a white person during the time of the 1900s. He was born in Cairo, Georgia in 1919 and later moved to Pasadena, California to pursue a better life. He came from a poor family of sharecroppers in the South and was the youngest of five.
He was a big part in the fight for equal rights. Jackie Robinson took so much abuse on the field because of his race that it gave him mental breakdowns. These breakdowns sometimes took days to recover from but he went through all of that so other people would have better opportunities. But this didn’t just go on for one season, Robinson had to deal with that racism for about two years before he was really accepted as a “respected” baseball player. (Kuhn,web) and (Wilson,web).

There is no doubt that Jackie Robinson has been one of most impactful baseball players to ever play the sport. For reasons such as pushing himself to reach his goals, facing many hardships, and being the first African American to play in the MLB, he has shown perseverance and been a role model to everyone. The first reason how Jackie Robinson has impacted society is how he worked hard to reach his goals.
Jackie Robinson was a famous baseball player. He accomplished many important world changing things while on and off the field. Robinson played for the Dodgers baseball team in a time of injustice. There was an extreme amount of racial prejudice going on while Robinson was on the Dodgers. Despite the time, Robinson managed to accomplish many things in his days.
