The highest mean in table 2e., is (3.14) for “Working with nurses who are clinically competent”. Such a notion is associated with the non-utilization of nursing theories as the basis of nursing practice. Nursing theories are important because it helps nurses to decide what they know and what they need to know. In addition, it will provide them the principles that underpin practice and will help nurses to generate further nursing knowledge (Alligood & Tomey, 2010). NU 413 Week 9 Discussion Board Post student response to Katie-Lynn Fournier by Kathryn Moultrie Good afternoon Kathie, Enjoyed reading your post, and seeing how other organizations handle the operations of their facility and nursing departments. My biggest concern with improving quality care and patient safety issues in that, the responsibility is not ours alone, our Chief Nurse Executives (CNEs) and Director of Nursing (DON), and senior nursing management staffs to lead the journey Disch J. The purpose of the NLN is to support the education of nurses, provide testing services and grants for research, all with the purpose of achieving excellence in nursing (National League for Nursing [NLN], 2013). This organization impacts nursing by supporting nurse education in the development of nursing faculty. Additionally, they encourage research to advance nursing education through evidence-based teaching practices, and the instruction of nurses (NLN, 2013). The NLN role in Nursing Excellence is to influence public policy on nursing by providing backing for education with the expectation of excellence through growth, improvement, and understanding (NLN, 2013). I support mission of the NLN to promote and provide educational excellence standards.
Theoretical thinking is essential to nursing and helps guide nursing practice. Theory is defined as “the creation of relationships among two or more concepts to form a specific view of a phenomenon” (Higgins & Moore, 2012, p. 282 para. 2). It is made up of four theories, which include meta-theory, grand theory, middle range theory, and micro theory.
Nurses need to be educated on EBP and its importance. Managers need to incite employees to be aware of EBP and take measure to improve and implement policies and procedures. Zeleníková, R., Beach, M., Ren, D., Wolff, E., & Sherwood, P. (2014). Faculty Perception of the Effectiveness of EBP Courses for Graduate Nursing Students. Worldviews On Evidence-Based Nursing, 11(6), 401.
This ongoing training will enhance nurses’ development of observational skills, knowledge of normal and abnormal vital signs, early warning signs (EWS) tool correct use and physical assessment. Charge nurses are too enmeshed in the day-to-day operations to effectively evaluate patient outcomes, be a client advocate, educator, information manager, systems analyst, risk anticipator, team manager. The CNL will function as a unit-based leader, working to laterally integrate care at the microsystem level, however, they can assist with change implementation at the macro-system level as well. The utilization of a CNL will decrease fragmentation of care and unify the divergent disciplines involved in the care of the ED patient. Moreover, the CNL serves as a bridge between the educator, manager, staff nurses, providers, and

Nursing professionals are faced with many obstacles when caring for patients. These obstacles often leave nurses questioning their ethical, moral, and professional responsibilities. Many times, these questions arise due to issues within the work environment. Working environments impact the quality of patient care, as well as the nurses job satisfaction.
