World War 1 Lessons Analysis

Uniforms played an important role in convenience, identification, and protection to the troops. Most soldiers were only given an old carpet piece for baggage, muddy discarded shoes, and dirty, ragged clothing. By wearing uniforms, it helped both sides distinguish who were Northern Union soldiers and those who were Southern Confederate soldiers. The United States’ massive industry capacity provided the ability to give all of their troops wool uniforms. Uniforms were convenient for the troops on both sides because many soldiers wore whatever they brought with them from home.

Before 1914, society had never seen a war with so many losses; not just in terms of life but economically as well. The war took place from 1914 to 1919, with two main sides, the Allies (France, England, Russia, later Italy and the U.S.) and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey). The war officially began when Austria declared war on Serbia, and after that a domino-effect took place. Within a few months most of Europe was tangled up in a struggle for economic and political power. One country however, Germany, was determined to beat everyone and seemed to be in the middle of all the conflicts.

This forms the second level of the pyramid, to issue orders too. Next from there the order from highest to lowest rank forming and ever-expanding pyramid until it reached the lowest rank and there by forming the lowest and biggest level. This allows for orders to be quickly and effectively issued to the Marines. It also allows for accountability to be easily to conducted so that the commander will know if any of his Marines are missing, sick, or injured. This is also one of the most important reasons for the rank structure to have been created is that any time a commander can find out the condition of the Marines in their

Importance of Rank Structure “Military ranks are a system of hierarchical relationships in armed forces, police, intelligence agencies or other institutions organized along military lines. Military ranks and the military rank system define among others dominance, authority, as well as roles and responsibility in a military hierarchy. The military rank system incorporates the principles of exercising power and authority, and the military chain of command – the succession of commanders superior to subordinates through which command is exercised – constructs an important component for organized collective action.”

In 1914-1918 there was a large war with many countries, peace was not a consideration. Not only did grown men were forced to fight in the war but boys that just graduated high school were forced, and died in war. “ what was the underlying cause of world war I?” one of the major cause of the war was militarism out of one of the four. The other three ar alliances, imperialism, and nationalism, but i 'm only walking about three of them, not nationalism.

Causes of World War I World War I was the bar fight of all bar fights and was expected to end quickly. Unfortunately, the treacherous battle field held soldier's longer than expected. At first, Europe had been flourishing with colonies worldwide and had developed in technology greatly.

From the lesson of training, I also realized the weight that officers hold when it comes to building trust, motivating, and pushing their soldiers. They are going to expect the utmost level of skill as well as professionalism that you must provide as an officer. In return, it is your right to expect the same level of excellence from your soldiers, being there to push them above the standard and holding them to being experts and professionals. This is a trait that no matter how skilled you or your soldiers may be, there will always be room for constant improvement and

The American Revolution set the background for the modern nation state as well as molding the modern Army. Both countries have many differences and similarities, ranging from the individuals fighting these wars to tactics and strategies they used to win. These countries shared the same idea of freedom and independence, the difference is they used different methods of accomplishing this goal. It’s difficult to pin point which country chose the best method, but we compare some of the facts and take a deeper look as to what was transpiring in both of these Revolutions. In the 18th Century the main problem the Army had was manpower.

WW1 is known as the first modern war because it saw the incorporation of mechanical weapons. The Central Powers and Allies both used a variety of weapons such as machine guns, chemical weapons , clothing, biplanes, artillery, tanks, grenades, and rifles. These weapons were state of the art for the early 20th century. These weapons caused casualties to skyrocket as the Allies and the Central Powers were in a stalemate.

That is the wrong answer. Leaders should feel obligated to be the prime example and enforce the Army Values and Warrior Ethos not only thru their action on duty but also off duty. For example cutting edge to get the job done quicker is the wrong answer, it show that you don’t live the army values. It show that you have loyalty to you task, respect to the leader that told you complete the task, and the personal courage to do the right thing when no one is looking. Not only should a leader live the army values and warrior ethos while on duty but a leader should live them off duty.

Another aspect to look at is the moral of the unit. Moral of soldiers must be intact to hold soldiers together in the harsh environments they may face. Soldiers are often asked to work for long hours in difficult situations. They are asked to deploy to foreign countries far from home and perform tasks many choose not to do. For a soldier and further a unit to succeed in these tasks their moral must remain high.

World War I brought many changes to society and to foreign policy. For example, women were at work when men were out fighting the war. Germany did many things to make the USA to enter the war after being threaten by Germany. In World War I we were very isolated to other countries. I will be talking about these three topics today.

Compare and contrast strategy (incl. technology/air power/naval power/land power) between WW1 and WW2. The use of air power as a strategy of war was highly contingent on the development of technology and became more and more significant to wars as technology developed. When compared to World War I, the second world war saw an improvement of technological capacities, leading to an enhanced production of aerial power along with the emergence of new tactics and strategies of war.

WWI (1914-1918) was a disastrous conflict between two sides - the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. It resulted in the victory of the Allies. There were plenty of Central Powers weaknesses, the Schlieffen plan, weak allies of Germany and their hard economic situation at the end of the WWI. However, it was not only due to these weaknesses, Allied Powers had a few strengths, that made them won. The most important of these are : greater army, control of the sea and support of the USA since 1917, while Germany was already running out of supplies and soldiers.

When a soldier and leader applies integrity into their day to day operation, they trust each other to do the right thing at all times. Honor plays also plays a major part in a soldier’s and leader’s work environment as well, that is just living up to the Army Values. Once they develop that habit they’re showing that they are honorable. An individual shows selfless service simply by put others before yourself. This is the mindset one must have especially on the battle field, because in that situation you are not fighting for yourself, you are fighting for the man or woman to the left or right of you so that they can make it home to their loved ones.
