Why Were The British Colonies In The 18th Century

As the population was growing bigger the colonies seemed to be getting bigger and stronger. The were even big enough to make their own coutry. But yet the still didnt have the power they deserved. They should have had more power over them selves then they actually did have. Then the british decided they wanted to tax the colonist now.

During the 17th and 18th centuries, the British government was in control of the North American colonies. The prime reason for the British government to control the English colonies was so Britain could trade with the colonies. The English colonies had crops like sugar and tobacco that couldn’t be grown in England so the British relied on the colonies to ship these products to them. The colonies were able to use the British ships in trade for the colonies’ crops. With the policy of mercantilism developing in the 17th century, Britain said they could help the English colonies become a strong country by trading, even though the trading mostly helped the British.

There are many reasons why England’s colonies were found but I believe the colonies were founded because of different religious beliefs, lack of resources, and just expanding rule not only in England but in another territory. The first settlers from England left their homeland because of their different views on religion, so rather than being tried for different crimes in England they came to North America. America was also full of resources that England didn’t have due to the climate. These resources made thee English government to expand the country’s rule in other territories, so the country’s journeyman settled in different colonies along the eastern seaboard. The colonies had trouble growing crops at first, but they eventually got the

England never had proper control over its colonies. Many immigrants left England knowing that the nation 's power within the colonies was virtually nonexistent. It could be argued that England appointed governors and passed laws before 1763 in an attempt to control its colonies, but it is known that colonists largely undermined these efforts and found ways to circumvent the generally unenforced legislation. The colonies had been deciding their own laws and faith since they had arrived on the foreign continent, because of how accustomed the Americans became to home rule, they would not let England take their right from them.

On the forth of July 1776 the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence and on the nineteenth of July 1776 the Second Continental Congress orders that the Declaration of Independence be engrossed in parchment. All the members of the Second Continental Congress signed the

America first started in 1620, when a ship, called the Mayflower, transported English Puritans, or Pilgrims, from Plymouth, England to the New World. It was a rough ride, and nearly half of the Pilgrims didn’t even make it. They would end up starting small in the New World with very little land and very little amount of resources. Then they would later make peace with the Native Americans, who give trade goods and show traditions. If anyone would break this peace, they would get shipped back to Plymouth for a punishment.

Around the 18th Century there was an island as big as Louisiana that started to control one of the largest empire in the world that we are in now today, it has made history. The big giant place which was called the Great Britain. Since the different technological and commercials were up to high that’s why the great Britain has rose up to the the empire that it has became. Back around the late 18th Century you would’ve have to start working at a really young age, for an example there would be six years old little boys/girls that would be working in a factory. The owners of the factory has its positions that has opened up and many people wanted them.

Towards the end of the Middle Ages, the monarchy began to expand their power and influence, eventually becoming absolute rulers. Having support from the merchant class, the monarchy attempted to unify and stabilize the nation states. In the late seventeenth, early eighteenth centuries, with hopes of expanding English trade and acquiring a broader market for English manufactured goods, the nation states were wealthy enough to fund voyages of discovery and exploration. Over time, ten colonies were established along the Atlantic coast of North America. The first permanent English settlement was established in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607 and in 1620 a ship landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts, marking it as the second permanent English settlement.

Zinn’s focus in Tyranny is Tyranny is the plight of the lower class Americans just as the war began and just after. He focuses on the problems they faced and how the government was shaping out to be. In the fourth chapter of a people’s history of the United States, Howard Zinn explains in detail the hardships people were facing. He also explains what he feels was the founding fathers motives behind the war fought with Britain.

Amid the late 16th century and into the 17th century, European nations quickly inhabited the new lands called the Americas. England sent out multiple groups to two regions in the eastern coast of North America. Those areas were called the Chesapeake and the New England locations. Later, in the end of the1700 's, these two locations would combine to create one nation. However originally both areas had very different and distinctive identities.

During the first years of the English settlements of North America the people who immigrated from England they formed colonies that with the support of the British government. The colonist didn 't pay a lot of taxes on their trading benefits to the government. Through the years, the King and the parliament started raising taxes on almost everything that the colonist was producing in the colonies. The colonists weren 't happy with the new taxation that the king was charging to the colonies, and it led the colonist to protest at British empire. There are several reasons why the colonists revolted against the British government.

Starting in the early 1600’s settlers from England came to “The New World.” England and Spain were competing to claim this new undiscovered land. The English were the first to claim the land by sending the first group of settlers, the Chesapeake settlers. They settled in present day Virginia and Maryland. The Chesapeake settlers came for commercial and profit.

The British government was not looking for the best of the people. They were only thinking about what they wanted; the government was not interested in what the people wanted so they decided to make decisions on their own, which resulted in changes that form the United States today. Because of this, they were justified in rebelling and declaring independence. One reason why the colonists decided to rebel and declare independence was because of taxation.

The people of America (colonists) were tired of being controlled by England. They wanted to be free and independent. They believed that they were able to control themselves and be their own country. They wanted England to let go of their control and to view them as independent and their own country.

Most of the colonies in America were settled by the English, which makes them similar in many designs. However, there are a few aspects that differentiate between colonies, such as in the Chesapeake and New England regions. Reasons for settlement, religions, and geography all played an important role in the development of colonies in these regions. These conditions were natural and mostly subject to circumstances and conditions that were unchangeable. Nonetheless, no matter the modest causes, the effects were very substantial in helping to develop the uniqueness of each region.
