The American Revolution was one of the most important wars that was fought in the history of the United States. The Patriots and the British had two different views on how things should be run in America. Many people have different opinions on why, where and how the war was started. There were a few key battles that helped to influence the outcome of the war. The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today.

The different acts that were passed to collect taxes angered the colonists little by little until they finally exploded. The Boston Tea Party was a type of protest against one of those taxes. Colonist chose to waste the tea instead of buying it. The colonists were forced to revolt against Britain by all the injustices they made, like the Boston Massacre. British soldiers were not able to hold back their anger and shot 5 people.

The American Revolution had many contributions that allowed it to greatly evolve and make such an important part of history. Culturally The Salem witch trials allowed women to be aware of the injustice they were facing which led them to demand equality. Along with the Great Awakening, that introduced many new religions that lead to conflict within the people. Politically the French and Indian war helped George Washington prepare for leading the continental army. In addition the Declaration of Independence created the separation between the loyalist and the patriots.

After being defeated in New York city, Washington’s troops retreated to New Jersey. They were attacked by the Hessians and were pushed to cross the Delaware River into Pennsylvania. The Continental Army was vanishing, however they decided to attack Hessians in offensive position at Trenton, New Jersey.

1. Throughout the Revolutionary War, there were mainly four key turning points. To begin with, the first key turning took place at the Battle of Saratoga. Because of America’s victory at this battle, it granted America’s request to seek an alliance with France, dramatically changing the direction of the war entirely. This quieted the loyalists for a few years in the Carolinas. The British made an attempt to take over Charleston South Carolina but retreat in defeat after colonists on shore made every effort possible to repel them.

In that case, the American Revolution was very revolutionary because there were political, social, and economic changes. Wealthy people lost their money, there was a new government, it made citizens question slavery, and certainly more freedom for the Americans. The American Revolution resulted in the establishment of an independent nation; British colonists became American citizens. That was a vast change in U.S history.

Anderson (2004) stated that the first thing the British did to anger the colonists was place the Sugar, Townshend, and the Stamp Acts.
