Vaccines Luc Montagnier once said “It [is] clear that prevention will never be sufficient. That 's why we need a vaccine that will be safe.” Throughout history, scientists and health professionals have looked for ways to effectively combat a disease before it could infect an individual. Developing better health literacy and better overall cleanliness helped with sicknesses like the common cold. Things like sewers and plumbing helped prevent most major diseases. Even though better sanitation decreases the frequency of contracting diseases, there is only one way to almost be completely immune to an illness. Vaccines are practically a sure cure and relatively safe way to prevent life threatening diseases. Encyclopaedia Britannica defines vaccines …show more content…
Most of these falsehoods originate from either obsolete evidence or fabricated lies. Some people believe vaccines are not safe (Horton, 2010). The CDC requires that all vaccines or any medication have thorough and rigorous testing, that is held to the highest standards. Products that are unsafe would not be available to the general public. People also claim that vaccines cause Autism (Horton, 2010). The National Alliance for Autism funded a research study to see if the MMR vaccine was linked to Autism and no relationship was found (Autism and Vaccines, 2004) This claim has been disproven by multiple tests and studies, however people still believe. Despite having no correlation between the two, fear as taken control of the minds of individuals. Instead of thinking clearly and rationally, people are using this an excuse to distort reality and cause false panic in the minds of parents. This in turn puts their children at risk and the lives of others also. “Too many vaccines can overwhelm the immune system” (Horton, 2010). As stated earlier, the CDC’s requirements would not allow vaccines to be used if that was a possibility. The amount of tests required virtually eliminates any possibilities that this could happen “A ‘holistic’ lifestyle will bolster our immune systems and protect us from disease” (Horton, 2010). Although this can help it is not a fool proof solution. Vaccines are the most reliable option when it comes to improving an individual’s immune system. Horton states that another common myth is that parents don’t have to vaccinate their children with same vaccinations they received. Immunity from vaccines do not pass from generation to generation; only genetic immunities have that ability. When countries stop or reduce the amount of vaccinations for a certain disease, there is always a dramatic increase of cases
Immunizations can save a child’s life; due to the medical advances that have taken place, kids are now protected from many illness/ diseases. At one point in time, Polio was a horrible illness that is now preventable by simply receiving a shot (USDHHS, n.d.). Immunizations protect not only the individual receiving the vaccination, but others as well. Certain individuals are not suitable for specific vaccinations, therefore, if everyone else has the vaccination, the people who cannot are more likely to be safe from the illness (USDHHS, n.d). Generally, immunizations are safe, effective, cheaper in the long run, and can save families time.
Proponents also say that" vaccinations is the best and one of the greatest
Should people get vaccinated? Have you thought about your child getting vaccinated? Well I think it is safe to get vaccinated because it keeps you from spreading the diseases around other people. When you read my paper it well have quotes from doctors and other people saying that it is safe to get vaccinated. But if you don’t believe if it is safe then keep reading on and see if you charge your mind, if you do think it is okay to get vaccinated than keep reading.
The number of people who choose not to immunize is steadily increasing, and has been on the rise since the 1980 's. Should children’s health be at risk for the greater good of community health? The news today is full of tragic stories about complications of vaccine use and there have been injuries from the beginning of vaccine use due to incomplete data on the side effects. The injuries have also brought about changes in the way vaccines are manufactured. The only way to get around the vaccine is to claim religious or medical exception.
However vaccination is not a bad thing, but it’s believed, it’s depends on you that how to believe. So, if you have children in the future, I think you should consult a doctor before vaccinate for your
Getting vaccinated does have some risks, however they do save many lives. Vaccines have saved over 2.5 million children (Pro-Con). Around 2-3 million deaths a year are prevented by vaccines (Who). People who are vaccinated avoid potentially fatal diseases including mumps, measles, and whooping cough. If the world as a whole can demolish the most fatal diseases, the generations after them would not have to worry.
Julia states that “vaccination is a medical procedure that should have questions prier to getting a vaccination. ”(The doctors.2008). On the other hand, Dr.Jim Sears argues that Vaccination can be related to Autism, but its not the main factor, there are many other factors that cause Autism, where these factors are unknown. Dr.Sears states that “many children get this disease without getting vaccinated”(The Doctors.2008). In his statement Dr.Sears states that preventing child vaccination won’t protect your child from getting diagnosed with
While only they are putting their children at great risk with no shots (Hay). Immunizations have prevented 90% of diseases in the world these days are from spreading (CDC). Parents need to see specialized people for any type of misinformed questions that they have on vaccinations. Today, even though people think that vaccinations are required at a certain age in school, as they should be there are exemptions from them (CDC). People do use religious and opinionated excuses to prevent their children from becoming vaccinated.
Three reasons why I think it is important for a person to be properly vaccinated us because one it’s better to be healthy, safe and saves lots of money. The most important thing about being vaccinated is for our next generation. In the next three paragraphs I’ll explain each one in details. Vaccines make you healthier.
However, there are more resounding evidence that disproves the relationship between vaccines and autism that can’t be ignored. The study, published by the Lancet in 1998, conducted by Dr. Andrew Wakefield ignited a controversy in the medical world. 12 children believed to have developed autism participated in a study that reviewed their medical histories and evaluated their developments. They were reviewed for any underlying biological/physiological factors that could affect the child’s health.
Doctors in many studies has proved them wrong due to their new and improved discoveries showing that every child should receive them in order to stay healthy. The Immunization Action Coalition states, “The development of vaccines continued at a fairly slow rate until the last several decades when new scientific discoveries and technologies led to rapid advances in virology, molecular biology, and vaccinology” ( ). Vaccinations fight against diseases in all ages from small infants to elderly people. Although, child vaccinations are a very controversial topic in today’s society; there is proof of it being beneficial, people still believe the side effects outweigh the
Vaccines are able to prevent disease in a single child, but their usefulness to society lies in their ability to prevent outbreaks. Vaccines prevent disease through the concept of herd immunity. Herd immunity is the idea that a disease will have a harder time spreading if the majority of the population is unable to contract it (Martinez). For example, if more than 90 percent of people are vaccinated against measles, an outbreak is unlikely to happen even if a person in the community is infected (Oster).
Many people may think that vaccination is a bad thing, that instead of preventing it causes illness, that is not natural. Natural or not, there are many reasons as to why we should vaccinate us and the younger generation. Most of the time children don’t like vaccination because it hurt, but is the responsibility of a parent to seek the wellbeing of his or her child. Vaccination it’s a preventive measure of various diseases. Unfortunately, things like the anti-vaccination movement, the misinformation on the Internet, and the believe that vaccination causes more damage than is worth, have led our society to think that it’s right not to vaccinate.
Unfortunately, the anti-vaccination movement is becoming increasingly popular due to individuals’ unfounded fears and imagined consequences associated with the idea of purposely inserting a disease into one’s body. However, despite one’s beliefs, vaccines are essential not only to a person’s well-being, but to the health of those around them. Mandatory vaccinations do not cause autism; rather, they save lives while upholding values of
This high number of patients suffering from these ailments can be reduced if they received their disease related vaccination in the early age. This shows how mandatory vaccination is essential and the necessity of braving up to face the low risk of adverse
