Why Do People Break The Law

Sometimes people wish that they can do what they want to do so they can vote for the presidents. It is good to vote for each other so we can have fun. Doing things you are not supposed to do is against the law. Some people are now doing what they want to do because it is know they can do what they want because they are free.

But they fail to realize that the system we have now throws anyone in jail no matter if the person committed the crime or not. They also fail to realize that the current system sentencing isn't organized or fair because there are people out there innocent and people who don’t deserve that time that was given for petty crimes. The current system doesn’t seek for justice, they see everyone who gets arrested as a criminal and feels they should be thrown away for a very long time and that isn't fair. Sentencing reforming is highly recommended due to the outrageous modern sentencing practices we have today. People go to jail or maybe even prison for such petty crimes that doesn't deserve the many years that were given to them.

In the book it is explained that people should only care about the greater good in people. They are taught to be selfless and to only do what is right for others. These jobs are here to keep order to their “perfect” society. While throughout the book there are many different characters that break the law, while only one gets caught. The laws of the land is to keep the unmentionable times, a secret and to not have it happen again.

Many Americans break the laws of California and other states everyday. Frank Trippetts argument is that many people who say that they do not break the law are actually breaking in a way that no one can find out about. Frank Trippett supports his claim by showing examples of different ways of breaking the law. I disagree with the author's argument because it is unrealistic to not pay your taxes with the code that is given to the United States government, people polluting the world with loud noise, or speeding down the highway. Some people who disagree with his views will say that it is okay to break the law if no one sees it or hears about about it.

If one breaks the laws, there are consequences that they face. If there were no laws, then freedom would exist. The general public does not have the right to define freedom because the ruling class owns and defines what freedom is. Freedom is neither tangible nor obtainable because according to B. F. Skinner he stated that “People identify the state of absolute freedom as one in which aversive control is absent: that is, if there is no apparent oppression, then people imagine themselves free”. I agree with Skinner because the general public is nothing more than “Happy Slaves”, we are molded by hidden controls (laws) and don’t even realize it.

Laws are the key to having a well-mannered society. They are created with the intention of bringing good to the civilization. However, even actions with good intentions can end with devastating results. This is what occurs in Kurt Vonnegut Jr.’s “Harrison Bergeron”. “Harrison Bergeron” is about a dystopian- like future that has had citizens stripped of their individuality due to an Amendment.

Short Summary: Chapter 2 of The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Prison was about how the way society sees crime can be distorted by the media, the justice system, and the information we are presented with about what crime really is. It points out that medical neglect, known environmental hazards, dangerous workplace conditions, and poverty cause more injuries yearly than murders, assaults, and robberies. Most people see the latter as “crime,” but not the former. Truly, it is difficult to say that rules are meant to be broke, but in order to live a safer and prosperous life, citizens should be aware to following these laws made by the state of Texas, because it will ease the headache of going through the trouble of punishment. These laws just have to be implemented a little more and the people in the communities should be a little more conscious in the things that they do in their daily routines. To be against the importance of laws in our society would show one to be ignorant and naïve. I encounter the law on a daily basis when I am driving. I have to follow the speed limit of each road, I have to signal before changing lanes, my vehicle must be in good condition in order to safely drive and I must obey all road signs as they are set in place to ensure the safety of everybody.
