American Civil War (Role of ulysses S Grant)

In the civil war Ulysses S Grant played a major role in the american union victory. The reason why he did it was because he won many and multiple battles as a union leader and defeated the one and only Robert E. Lee. Grant wanted his career in officer by going to the military academy called westpoint. After graduating in second Lieutenant ,he made his way through the mexican american war . The civil war promoted him as the general in chief behind the 16th president of Abraham Lincoln . The battles where Grant won his battles were vicksburg , chattanooga and petersburg and many more he won ,but vicksburg was one of his best battles he won because still managed to lead the american civil war …show more content…

Grants military gained his life as a soldier and skills were used to defeat the enemies and won the top battles in the american civil war. Throughout the entire war ulysses led it to a victorious war but, which got helped and played a good role in the Union War . When grant started school it was in 1839 at academy at west point , but however grant didn't want to go that academy for some reason . Ulysses father had to persuade him into going to that academy it was the only right academy for him to free education and free tuition so that his parents didn't have to pay for his schooling. Ulysses name was changed when he arrived at west point , it wasn't the same any more as Ulysses S Grant no more. When he saw a list names that was close to his he avoided it because it started confusion , when grant entered the school he arrived as that person.Gant favorite subject was math and horsemanship and graduated in 1843 and was ranked number 21 out of 39 kids in his class . Ulysses was honored to be stationed in st louis missouri and he decided to resign with the military after 3 to 4 years he served.
