The Whiskey Rebellion: Effects On History The Whiskey Rebellion was one of the first accomplishment over a period of time taken to get the United States out of debt after the Revolution. (Gale Encyclopedia of U.S. History) states that “Life on the western frontier was very difficult during this period; much of the area was simultaneously claimed by both Great Britain and Spain, and settlers were also threatened by Indian wars”. The Whiskey Rebellion was caused by Alexander Hamilton who convinced congress to pass a tax on the farmers main crop Whiskey! Hamilton’s intention was to help compile the power of the new government along with bringing down the national dept.

Alcohol was immensely important to immigrants that came to the United States from Europe in the 1600’s. A few centuries later, specifically 1917, many Americans believed that alcohol consumption was a problem. An eighteenth amendment was assembled and passed by congress which banned production, transport, and marketing of alcohol. Even a drink consisting of over 1 percent alcohol was considered an alcoholic beverage. America was officially a “dry” country.

The colonist left their country and sailed across the oceans in hopes of starting a new life in a new world. However, the British government didn't give them that opportunity by controlling them.

One reason this act angered them the most was that it forced every colonist to be willing to give up their homes to the British soldiers. By law, you had to provide room and board for the said soldiers- no matter where it was. Another reason that the colonist would be most angered by this series of laws is that it created divinity and privilege between the soldiers and the colonists, as they were being forced to provide for them.

Issues between Great Britain and France as well as conflicts between Great Britain and the colonists played key roles in starting the American Revolution. Events such as the French and Indian War, the Sugar Act, and the Stamp Act were the sparks needed to ignite the flame of the American Revolution. Even though the American Revolution started as a series of smaller acts confined to the American colonies, it ended up as a large global conflict. The Revolution had involvement from a multitude of foreign nations and allies, making it a world event.

The people of America (colonists) were tired of being controlled by England. They wanted to be free and independent. They believed that they were able to control themselves and be their own country. They wanted England to let go of their control and to view them as independent and their own country.

Political, economic, military, and social factors were taken into account during the revolution. These aspects of the war all played a significant role in the outcome of the American Revolution. Since Great Britain was in a tremendous amount of debt, it started social and economic issues with the colonies. The French and Indian War (Seven Years War), fought between the British and the French over the Ohio River Valley was a huge contributing factor to said debt.

Another reason why Great Britain established colonies in America was to create a safe haven for financial resources. Great Britain came into a lot of debt as a result of the Seven Years War.
