In early 1787, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and other nationalist leaders decided to improve and create a perfect union. The Constitution was then created, and the people who supported it were called the Federalists. Led by Alexander Hamilton, the Federalist group supported the Constitution, but as soon as they introduced it to all the states, not all the people agreed and supported to what it said, and that is why the Anti-Federalist group was created. Anti-Federalist were the people who were against the Constitution and believed that it didn’t give enough rights to the individual citizens. It lasted during Georg’s Washington rule and was dominating until John’s Adams defeat. In 1788, the 85 essays or the Federalists Papers were published. The essays were written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay but the actual Federalist party was not formed yet. In these papers, they explained and gave arguing in the support of the Constitution Of United States. First, only 77 essays were published in “The Independent Journal” in between October of 1787 and August 1788. Later on, other 8 were added. Everything was posted anonymously under the name “Publius”. Eventually, in 1792, the party was formed. The reasons for the creation of this group were “to avoid tyranny, to allow more participation in politics, to use the states as "laboratories" for new ideas and programs” (UsHistory.org, 3a). The Federalists were a very well organized group. Many well know people and the greatest leaders supported their ideas. For example, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington were one of them. The main leader of the Federalist Party was Alexander Hamilton. He was a very well organized and strong man. As he always said, “Those who stand for nothing, fall for anything”. That phrase resonates his personality a lot, since he was very focused on what ever he did and he always made it till the end. Another great leader that was involved in the Federal group was George Washington. He was the first president of the United States.
