What I Learned In College Essay

Three habits I 'd like to change this year is to be more organized, procrastinate less, and study for my tests longer. I tend to leave some of my homework assignments to the last minute, which makes me rush. I convince myself that my assignments will be easy and to just do them at a later time. But in reality, I just cost myself hours of homework and studying. That 's why I want procrastinate less so I can get more things done and I 'll have time to do things outside of school.

You could also meet many new people and you get to learn a lot, or learning things you love. As cliché as this sounds, college is learning experience. Think of it like this, you can start each year new. Get involved with your campus. Join a club, no matter how small or big it is. I’m not advising you to join every organization out there but at least one, getting involved on campus will preoccupy your mind.

As long as I can remember, I knew that college was going to be part of my future. That is because I always knew what my family expected out of me. College is not only important to me for the reason of making my parents proud, but for making sure that I create more out of myself, as well. With a higher education, I will have more job opportunities available, potentially be able to earn higher income, and obtain more useful life skills than somebody who does not have a college education. To begin, having a college education under my belt is important to me because I will have more opportunities for a job, after I complete my four years.

Is College worth It Should you go to college ? Here 's some reasons why you should. Each year there are thousands of students enrolling into college hoping they will get in to study and learn about their dream job. Many colleges have been around for decades.

Today more and more people are going to college. Most people go to college to build their knowledge and to study a specific field that they want to get a job in some day. College is marketed to most people as a creative place where they will learn everything they need to know to get a job and enter the “real world”. As college students right now, don’t get us wrong we do learn many things but, we have found that in many classes we take, we just focus on getting a good grade or a passing grade. At the end of the semester we walk out of some class barely learning a thing because we retain information just long enough to do good on a test or exam and then forget it all together when the class is done.

From experience we know college amounts a lot to “…study for long hours, endure stress, and incur the financial cost of schooling…”(Gwartney. 24) It consumes your life to a certain extent for the amount of time engaged in the activity. There is a lot of sacrifice involved in school. This amount can be worse with the added cost of living expenses, and activities.

In the past, I have never known what to write down, so I wrote down nothing at all, or all the wrong stuff. Now I know to write down the main ideas, and then a couple supporting details. The last huge lesson I learned from College 101, was time management. I learned to use a planner and cut out time for classwork and studying. This will help me in highschool and college by ensuring that I get enough time to do my classwork and get good grades.

Seventh grade was fantastic, but I would like to change a few things for next year. Next year in eighth grade, I need to increase my vocabulary, participate more in class, and stop procrastinating. I need to increase my vocabulary. I can read more books to learn new words. Whenever I don’t know a word, I can ask others for the definition or look in a dictionary and remember the definition for the next time I encounter the word.

One thing that I learned from reading these articles was that, a record share of students are leaving college with a substantial debt burden, and among those who do, about half (48%) say that paying off that debt made it harder to pay other bills; a quarter say it has made it harder to buy a home (25%); and about a quarter say it has had an impact on their career choices (24%). When you decide to go to school, you never really realize the financial burden that it can cause. It is sad that going to school to better yourself can be so stressful financially.

I learned that any barrier you face there is always an option to overcome it and be successful. I can grow by working my hardest on my school work and never giving up, even when things get hard. I also learned that time management is a very great skill to obtain at this time in my life, because college courses take time, effort, and lots of patience. I must give myself time to prepare for class work and especially exams. Having a schedule for my school work and my personal life is the best choice to help me stay on track.

To be honest, writing things down helps me learn the best but the other two ways (listening and visualizing) also helps me learn at school. Writing down things/notes in class or in general is a better way for me to learn because it helps me learn and understand what we are learning in class. And if I forget something or misunderstand something in class I can always go to my notes or my papers and look over them. I think I work both fast and slow depending in which class I am in and what we are learning because if there is a concept in class that I may of have already know, I will work quickly. But if it 's something new, I will most likely have a huge difficulty on it like Algebra.

You also need to stay on top of your grades and your Career goal you have for your future. Because college isn't just given to you, you have to study and put a lot of hard work and effort into your choices you make. Specially in choosing what Career you want to take place in, have in mind you will have this job for a long time so take

College can be very challenging because of its various activities. A college student has to be self-motivated and make wise decisions. In order to become a successful college student one must prepare and be on time for class. Preparation includes having the reading assignment done before class starts, participating in class discussions and asking questions. Thus, the student will be more knowledgeable of the class topic.

Students face various challenges throughout their college career. Thus, the problems that students have can range from balance, new lifestyle, to financial problems. Therefore, finding a balance between being a student, possibly working, and keeping up with their social life is a necessity. Similarly, others are away from home for the first time thus, they have a new responsibility with being on their own and findings ways to deal with homesickness. Likewise, being exposed to new financial situations is yet another challenge college students will need to learn how to cope with.
