I believe that the nature of the colonists’ opposition to British rule in the year 1763 to 1776 was all the above being political social and economic issues. First and foremost, I would like to begin with the economical aspect of the problem which began with the Stamp Act of 1765, which required all colonist to purchase watermarked, taxed paper which at the time was used in newspapers and all legal documents. The stamp Act of 1764 was the first tax imposed on the colonist by the parliament which lead to great disagreement. Three years later, in 1767 after the repealed of the Stamp Act prior that year parliament passed revenue act better known as the “The Townshend duties “which taxed the most frequent used items in the colonist such as lead, glass, paper and tea, tea being a popular drink at the time, enraged the colonist even more which than lead to the

Nation States were instrumental in funding voyages and improving the human condition during the age of exploration. England, a Nation State, helped bridge the New World and Old World together. Together they created an array of wealth and opportunity, which as a result bettered the lives of both the people in England, and the settlers of the New World. England’s colonization of the New World was beneficial to the English, but detrimental to the lives of the poor and natives of the New World. Despite the negatives, England as a Nation State vastly improved the human condition of the English people.

On April 19, 1775, british soldiers marched into a rebel armory demanding that they turn over their weapons. Back in the 1700’s guerrilla warfare was not yet used in military combat. British combat usually consisted of line combat, which is where you line up and fire upon a still target.

This is a political conflict that has been composed on all of the colonists and confusion, hate, and anger started to broil. This is especially shown in the document when it states “She protected us from those who had no quarrel with us on any other account, and who will now always be our enemies on the same account----because of her!” This proves that England protected the colonies from countries they had no setback with whatsoever, and now the countries became upset because of the protection. This shows that England worsened the relationships between them and other colonies/countries. Which affects the colonists politically because they no longer had a source of trade between other countries, which unfolds to the king taking their rights away.

Neither the Revolutionaries nor Loyalists were particularly innocent in the Revolutionary War. The war, however, was only a facade. Only a small portion of the population of the Thirteen Colonies truly supported independence. Most colonists merely supported better representation in Parliament, were Loyalist, or simply refrained from opinion. The real reasons why the colonies seceded were because of the Boston Massacre, new taxes, and the Proclamation of 1763.

At the dawn of the 1770s, American colonial resentment of the British Parliament in London had been steadily increasing for some time. Retaliating in 1766, Parliament issued the Declaratory Act which repealed most taxes except issued a reinforcement of Parliament’s supremacy. In a fascinating exchange, we see that the Parliament identifies and responds to the colonists main claim; Parliament had no right to directly tax colonists who had no representation in Parliament itself. In debate Darla Davis discusses the Taxes imposed on the American Colonists by Parliament. First not everyone in parliament believe that taxation of the colonies was right thing to do. According to Darla’s Article, Will Pitt and Edmund Burke, were two members of the parliament that under stood why the colonist were opposing the tax. Colonist were opposing men felt that the opposition from the colonists concerning the taxes existed, because the colonist had been practically ignored by England since having been established.

Between 1763 and 1775, there were three ‘Imperial Crises’ which occurred between the British and the American colonists. The conflict that was produced during this period arose through an undefined balance of political and economic power between the two parties. In 1763, Britain had just concluded the French and Indian war and was left with an immense and almost crippling debt of around 140 million pounds sterling (“Turning Point In American History”). In Britain’s eyes, the most effective way to reduce this debt was increased taxes. Unfortunately, the people of England were already massively overtaxed, which meant the last option for the British was to tax the American colonists.

The American Revolution was, to date, the best event to happen on American soil, providing freedom and representation in government to the individuals who fought so hard for it. France and Spain aided our cause, helping this group of brave colonists to defeat the strongest army in the world. But, there is a question still not answered; were the colonists justified in breaking away from Britain? The American colonists were justified in breaking away from the British because there was taxation without representation, they had no freedom, and the British government violated their individual British rights. I believe the American colonists were justified for breaking away from Britain because there was taxation without representation.

During the Colonial Era (1492-1763), colonists were justified in waging war against Great Britain; due to the inequitable Stamp Act, the insufferable British oppression, and the perceived tyranny of King George III, the king of Great Britain, however, the colonists were unjustified in some of their actions. In Colonial America, colonists were justified in waging war against Great Britain, because the Stamp Act was unfair and viewed as punishment. Because of the war, Britain had no other choice but to tax the colonists to pay for the debt. For example, according to document 2, the author states that the act was not only for trade but for “the single purpose of levying money.”

Soon after the Seven Years’ War, the British and the colonists learned that victory came with a rather expensive price (Kennedy, Cohen, & Bailey, 2010). Great Britain tightened its grip on the colonies in North America, expecting colonists to pay for their financial struggles. In order to make colonists pay for the war, Great Britain reminded the North American colonies who had authority by controlling the colonists to submit to various ordinances ratified by British Parliament. This action only showed that arrogance leads to rebellion socially, economically, and politically. Socially, a lack of communication between Great Britain and the North American colonies was to blame for the Revolutionary War.

In 1812 Britain and France were at war and America was trying to remain in a neutral state. Then it was when Britain began to destroy American merchant ships and arm Indians that America began angry Because of this America decided to declare war against the British. America was correct when they declared war on the British. First of all, the British could have stopped the war starting if they had not destroyed our ships for no reason. When American merchant ships traveled to other countries they were overtaken and destroyed by the British.

As the debate addressing the crown on the 12th and 11th of October 1779 approached Grattan emerged as the one of the leading patriots. The Patriots and the Volunteers took up free trade as a demand for commercial reform. The patriot leadership put increasing pressure on administration to meet the demand for commercial concessions. One of the actions taken was the threat on imminent financial chaos by approving a six month rather than a two month money bill. Grattan’s contribution showed that the extremes he was prepared to go through in order to achieve free trade.

Colonists, is your freedom really worth it? The losses that we face when we separate will be detrimental. But it can all be prevented if we just stay loyal to Great Britain. One consequence we will face is death and destruction. We will be attacked by the crushing force of Britain’s army and will be hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned.
