Leading a well-formed interview is the area that I feel I improved the most on during this counseling course. Looking back at my first interview, structure was nonexistent. It was basically just a conversation between two people in which one person shared the summary of their life story. The conversation lingered in the first stage (establishing relationship) for the majority of the interview. The second interview was the complete opposite. I felt as though this conversation flowed naturally through the five stages and all of the aspects of this interview fell into place. I feel that I lead my interviewee through the stages swiftly and efficiently. We established a trusting relationship by learning about his background and me sharing my experience and bringing to attention the gender difference between us. …show more content…
After, he set a personal goal to accomplish and identified how he would like his life to be when this problem is solved. Lastly, we talked about how he was going to accomplish the goal he set for himself. Although we didn’t come up with the perfect solution to help him reach his goal, at that time, we did come to the agreement that brain storming ideas on his own and journaling between sessions would be a great technique to come up with a few ways to accomplish his goal. One thing I would have done differently with this interview is mentioning that I am not here to give advice, but rather, I am here to guide and help him make decisions on his own. Although I have come a long ways using this technique, I know there is still more need of improvement. After reflection about the five stages, I feel I can use this technique to my every day life as well. I recently transferred to the College of St. Scholastica, and I feel confident that I can apply this process when meeting new people and developing new
He’s come along way to become the person he is today. As he seated for the interview, in his face it showed confidence about the questions going to be asked. It was about 8 o’clock at night which the interviewed started and it was clear that he was tired but he was mentally and physically in the room ready to answer the questions. The interview took place in a quiet room with bright lightening. We were facing face to face as we began.

I found in reading stages one, two and four they closely resemble my own transition in my college career. Karen Russell describes stage one of the transformations as the period of excitement for exploring a new environment. Each new class I sign up for brings with it enthusiasm of learning something new. I am provided a chance to not only learn a new subject but meet new classmates. Russell describes Sister Maria slapping a name tag on one of the girls with her name and then goes on to say, “The rest of the pack ran in a loose, uncertain circle, torn between our instinct to help her and our new fear.
Introduction As we approach graduation many BScN students are prepping their resumes and settling into the mindset of “I’ll apply to anything, just hire me!” We thought it was important to ensure that our future graduate think ahead to all the many different nursing careers that are out there, what role they think they would be happiest in, what training might be needed for that role and how to be successful in the interview. This reflection will examine my experience working as a group to complete a facilitation in the Nursing 4Q03 class. Facilitation Experience (planning, conducting, evaluating)
After reflecting on all that you have learned in this course, share what you believe is one current trend in the human services field in meeting the needs of individuals, families, and/or the community. This course has been a revelation for me. In the past eight weeks, I learned many things about running a nonprofit organization, and I am sure I will learn a lot more. There are so many different elements that goes into managing an organization like how to build capacity, funding/budgeting, assessment tools, the role of the board of directors, and past/current trends in the field.
Question 1 Peter Loescher was hired by Siemens when the company was experiencing extremely difficult times. After the bribery scandal, the main goal was to gain back the trust and respect from the customers and partners, as well as building a new vision. The company’s board of directors decided that they needed a person from outside of the company, who had no connection and loyalty to previous vision, and no affiliation with previous management team. In my opinion, the company owners hired Loescher for a specific purpose to change the overall team perception of how work is supposed to be done.
QUESTION TWO: Discuss how your life experiences have shaped you for a career in counseling. How have your personal experiences prepared you to deal with human and social problems? What has been the contribution of your family and your friends to your experiences? How do your personal values relate to the values of the profession of Clinical Mental Health Counseling?
Because of my inability to provide a calm and silent environment as part of my interviewing techniques, I missed out on gaining potential relevant information about my client. In the future, I will provide a very calm environment that allows the client to really express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I will ask questions one at a time rather than grouping them together, and I will go into the interviews mentally prepared, thus removing any self-perceived awkwardness. I also will learn new interviewing techniques on how make your client feel appropriately validated and emotionally supported. I also need to work on my body language whenever conducting interviews in the future.
From the ideas and techniques that Mrs. Perez used, I realized how these interviews could be helpful if utilized and applied in the proper way. To me, this assignment was the best and it helped me further my development and growth as a future mental health counselor. The most interesting and educative aspect of this interview was how Mrs. Perez applied most of the counseling techniques, such motivational stage that we have been taught in class. Aspects such as paraphrasing the words of your clients, tone, and facial expressions are critical in a counseling session and students always overlook these techniques. The way Mrs. Perez employed according to her explanation was excellent and her ideas justified the importance of such points in any counseling session.
The stages help me to solidify in my mind what might be going on in a person’s life at a given time. His stages fit with what I imagine each age group is grappling with psychologically at each stage. The two theories are alike in that they attempt to explain human behavior, but they approach it from 2 different schools of thinking. The two theories are like in that they both have a social context to them. I believe that both are valid, and both can help to explain why we do what we do.

In this part I will review myself, about what have I done and what can I do, so I can be closer to my vision. As I have mentioned in my current situations I have strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. My strategy is that I want to maintain my strength, overcome my weaknesses and threats and take advantage of the opportunity. My strengths are my calm and observant personality.
Having the chance to experience this Mock Job Interview open my eyes up to a lot of things. Being a Roanoke Valley Early College these are some of the great opportunities that you will receive. In class we took notes on how to properly do an interview from the day that you will walk in the door until the moment you walk out. We learned the expectations on how to properly groom, dressing, sit in the chair, answering questions with length, grammar, eye contact, firm handshake, making resumes and thank you letters.
During the interview, he was as confident as giving concise answers when being questioned, so he was accepted to be an intern at a stock company. Therefore, Gardner’s story demonstrates that confidence is an important masculinity trait and men should have it or improve themselves to be self-confident because of its
