Congratulations to the class of 2016, we have been on a long journey to get here today! We each came to Walden for different reasons yet we find ourselves with a common goal to make the world a better place one child at a time. We do this through our vision, mission and expectations created within ourselves and our University. We have achieved so much and will continue to do so after graduation because of the passion and drive we carry within each of us to make education better for every child.
Vision
As a graduate of Walden University, my vision is to go into schools and lower the achievement gap between children. I believe that all students should have access to the same education regardless or race, gender or parental income. I want to go out into the world and make an immediate difference. If we use what we have learned from our time here at Walden and go

The missions we have completed to get here are similar to those we must do to reach each of our visions. I plan to close the achievement gap by making education resources available to all children. If children can access their classroom materials from anywhere, they are more likely to complete assignments, do research, broaden their ideas and ultimately change their educational experience. Another way we can close the achievement gap is by offering all students educational activities to participate in after school. By making education fun for all students and by using that extra time with them to encourage and support them educationally we will help those students succeed. Taking steps like these to lower the achievement gap is promoting positive social change in the community that is also a mission of Walden University (About, 2015). This University has shaped our ideas and beliefs in education in more than one way, and this will continue to show as we graduate and go out into the world to make a
Confidence in the principle of universal equality of educational opportunity is difficult to maintain when one views the breadth of the educational landscape in America. When observing two schools that fall on opposite sides of the spectrum in nearly every measurable aspect, it is crucial to make sense of where such disparity is founded so that the education system can be altered to better society. One such example of a tremendous educational gap is found in the 3.6 miles that span between the Nashville High Schools Pearl Cohn and Hume Fogg. Pearl Cohn, an entertainment magnet school located in a predominantly African American and poor socioeconomic area, has a 69% graduation rate, whereas Hume Fogg, an academic magnet school with 97% of students
I am a second year student at Emory University, majoring in Economics and African American Studies. I am writing to you regarding the Undergraduate Summer Internship posting on your website, particularly the position as a Policy and Community Organizing Intern. As a New York native, I am aware of The Bronx Defenders’ invaluable contribution to marginalized Bronx residents. I want to intern at The Bronx Defenders because the unique, holistic approach to defense will equip me with priceless skills and experience for my future, as well as be an exciting and memorable way to spend my summer. My socially conscious high school and liberal college environment fostered a passion for social justice, especially pertaining to people of color.
The world, as well as ourselves, can become confident. I will encourage scholarship, leadership, and good citizenship with my school and community. With my hardwork, not only shall I benefit, but all that I help shall be benefited as well.
First, to the those who have made this night possible. I, and all the other graduates sitting here tonight would like to thank the Winton Woods High School Administration, Counselors, Teachers, as well as those from around the district, including the Winton Woods School District Board of Education and Superintendent for the countless nights that they invested in us over the past 13 years. While many times it felt like you were being unreasonable and much harder than necessary, we can see now, your persistent nature was borne from your unadulterated passion to ameliorate our lives for decades to come. Second, on behalf of the Winton Woods Class of 2017, we would all like to extend our deepest appreciation to the friends and family in attendance tonight.
Marguerite Johnson has been waiting on this day all year long; GRADUATION DAY!!! It’s a big accomplishment for her and the people in her community. Marguerite was so excited, so as the people that knew her personally. Her
Welcome to those of the Commonwealth Club of California. Today, I would like to address a matter important to us all lately, especially under our current administration and recent employed laws utilizing some ideas about government put forth by Henry David Thoreau. I will provide you with my personal recommendation throughout this speech. Really, there are three basic “camps” when it comes to how people should protest and change laws and unacceptable views and positions commonly held by those in their governmental bodies.
The need to empower the African American community to work together and get involved with the African American students is crucial in addressing the Achievement Gap. Limitations Although this study contributes to the literature supporting the causes of the Achievement Gap and the roles that African American community members can implement, several limitations are important to consider. This study consisted of several participants who
I hope I can make my community a place where people can get along with each other and feel that they are equal. I want to be an example to people and show that love can conquer the hate that is between them. I want to live in a future where there is peace and everyone is treated equally. I want to help the world come together and to leave an impression on people that fighting and violence does not solve any problem. I hope to inspire generations to come to live in harmony and to see everyone as equals.
In the chapter “Where I Lived, and What I Lived For” in “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau it says what it 's about practically in the name “where I lived, and what I lived for”. which by saying a rhetorical device it would be deductive reasoning there would be plenty of deductive reasoning in “where I lived, and what I lived for”. When I read “Where I lived ,and What I lived for” I saw in my perspective a guy that wanted to find a meaning in life, maybe it 's because it 's what I want to do and my brain is just analyzing it as if I’m perpetuating myself in his shoes or mindset . Thoreau seemed like he knows what to do and why to do it as if he wasn 't accidentally halting a risk he even said why he went to the woods. Thoreau exclaimed “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately” he wanted to be free.
Legacy Statement The knowledge and skills that I will obtain from Grand Canyon University College of Education, will enable me to be an effective educator in the classroom. The educational philosophy adopted by GCU will allow me to apply learning, and serving to the educational profession. The legacy I will leave on the field on education is one that focuses on helping each individual child meet their full potential regardless of their learning abilities and circumstances. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which they can grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a future educator to help students meet their full potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe,
The diversity of student backgrounds, abilities and learning styles makes each person unique in the way he or she reacts to information. The intersection of diverse student backgrounds and active learning needs a comfortable, positive environment in which to take root. Dr. King continues by explaining, “Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals.” From back then to today’s society, kids are failing because they lack those morals that they need to succeed.
How do you plan to use your college education to make a difference in your community? As a hard-working high school senior my main focus is to pursue a higher education after high school and pursue going to college to study computer science. As a young adult I believe It is very important to keep developing as not only a student but also a person, I strongly believe that education is the key component to establishing a
Having an impact on the world is something I desire to accomplish in my life. My parents tell me, even today that I can do anything I set my mind to. As most people grow older, they lose sight of their desires and challenged by life’s problems. My faith in God provides the motivation to make my dreams and ambitions a reality. Seattle Pacific University’s vision is very ambitious as well, to engage the Culture and Change the World.
Beacon Academy students, you have earned the right to be called the Class of 2021.
