Walt Disney was born on December 5,1901. His birth name was Walter Elias Disney and he was born in Hermosa, Illinois. Walt was an American motion-picture and television producer. Him and his brother Roy co-founded Walt Disney Productions. Walt was a professional animator and he created the cartoon character Mickey Mouse. He won 22 academy awards in his lifetime. His father was Elias Disney and his mother was Flora Call Disney. He was one of five children, he had 3 brothers and a sister. He spent most of his childhood in Missouri, where he began to draw and paint pictures to sell them. Disney went to McKinley High School in Chicago. From then on he worked for the Kansas City Film Ad Company. After he spent a good amount of time at that job, he decided to open his own animation business. Then the Disney brothers and their wives produces three animated characters and one of them being Mickey Mouse. On December 21,1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was produced and it was the first full-length animated film. It produced $1.499 million. The movie won a total of eight oscar awards. Then in the next five years, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and Bambi were produced. Disney was among the first to use television as an entertainment medium. Disney’s last major success that he produced was the motion picture Mary Poppins, it mixed live action and animation. Disney’s $17 million Disneyland theme park opened on July 17, 1955. Ronald Reagan attended the festivities that were occurring that day at the newly opened theme park. The new theme park soon attracted tourists from all around the world. Disneyland has expanding its rides over time and produced many more parks in Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong. Walt Disney died within a few years of the opening of Disneyland.
