Everyday in our country there are killings being committed by innocent people who made a choice they would never even think necessary. The choice to kill another is rarely even a choice, but a sacrifice. Many times in our society we think of killings as murder, but this simply isn’t always the case. Many of those who are forced to make such tough decisions are victims or at the very least, well-intentioned people who are trying to end someone else’s suffering.
In the case of Capital Punishment, those who murder should pay the ultimate price for something they have taken themselves… their life. An online source provides evidence stating that. “All penalties have some deterrent effect, and the more severe the punishment, the more it deters”(Jacoby). This evidence proves that the harder the punishment, the less the crime will be committed again. And in these cases, we can only end the murderer’s life to end the loss of others. Another trusted sources states “When

In the novella “Of Mice and Men” Curley states “I’m gonna get him. I’m going for my shotgun. I’ll kill that son-of-a-b____ myself. I’ll shoot him in the guts.”(Steinbeck 96). This evidence shows that Curley was going to kill Lennie, and do it in a vengeful and unforgiving way. George only wanted Lennie not to suffer a painful death in which he didn’t deserve. To achieve a painless death, George shoots Lennie in the back of his head to make for a quick and painless death. This is a time when killing is justifiable. In the novella, the author states “But Curley’s gonna want to shoot’im. Curley’s still mad about his hand. An’ s’pose they lock him up and strap him down and put him in a cage. That ain’t no good George.” (Steinbeck 97). The evidence provided shows that George was only ensuring a peaceful end for Lennie’s future, and that he never wanted Lennie to suffer
It sounds weird, but if he was put in a mental institution Lennie would probably wish he was dead. At the time of this book mental institutes were horrible places where people would be abused and treated like animals. Also if George didn’t get there before Curley would have shot Lennie in the stomach. If Lennie got shot in the stomach that would cause a lot of pain and Lennie getting shot in the back of the head he didn’t feel anything. It was for the best when George shot Lennie.
The side that I am choosing is that George should have killed Lennie because Lennie can’t live by himself, he is mentally challenged, and Curley would have killed him anyway if George didn 't. Lennie is mentally challenged and he likes to talk to dead animals and other different things. He gets in trouble a lot and can 't really do anything by himself because he will always be getting in trouble if he is by himself. “Jus wanted to feel that girl’s dress-jus wanted to pet it like it was mouse(Steinbeck 11). The quote proves my reason because Lennie got both George and Lennie in trouble because he wanted to feel a girls dress. George should have killed Lennie because Lennie can 't live by himself and I believe if George didn 't kill Lennie
“But Curley’s gonna want to shoot ‘im” (Steinbeck 97), said George to Candy. That there? Just an argument between Curley shooting Lennie. Ill explain later, but this is where George is thinking about what he's going to have to do to Lennie, you see Curley is going to want to slowly kill Lennie for killing his wife. But George kills Lennie quick and easy.
When Curley became aware of what occurred, he grew so angry and threatened Lennie’s life. “‘I’m gonna shoot the guts outa that big bastard myself, even if I only got one hand. I’m gonna get ‘im.’” (Steinbeck) George knew it had to be him to kill Lennie rather than Curley.
My issue with not allowing the murder to see judgement, is the fact that they have done many horrific things to those they have slaughtered. When someone is born into this world, they are given
Her husband was very mad his name was Curley. So since Curley was disturbed about his wife he wanted to execute Lennie. The next moment Curley had a gang ready to find Lennie, but only George knew where he was at. In conclusion George goes to Lennie and him before anyone else can hurt him. There is debate whether George slaughtered Lennie with justification or not.
The Science of Euthanasia (Of Mice and Men) Is Killing always a cruel or savage action? Can Killing ever be be considered a Good or merciful action? For Humans, taking life has always been on the thin barrier between Good and Bad. The reason why there is such a thin barrier is because it is immoral or savage to kill people out of anger or for no reason. At the same time it is moral/alright to kill a criminal, or to take someones life in war.
At the end of the book when Curley went to search for and kill Lennie, George did the right thing, even if it meant he had to kill Lennie. George was there to make sure that Lennie had a peaceful and painless death instead of what Curley would do to Lennie if he saw him first. What George did showed lots of respect, even though he really didn’t want to kill him. This part in the book allows the readers to understand that
You may think killing someone is wrong, no matter the circumstance, but there are some cases where murder is the only option. In John Steinbeck 's Of Mice and Men George kills his friend Lennie, but what you don 't know is that Lennie 's death was justified. Even though it is wrong to kill someone george did nothing wrong in the situation he was put in. George is innocent because he new Lennie would get in more trouble, George also knew that the dream would never come true, so he had to end it, George knew that if he didn
In “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, George made the right decision in shooting Lennie because Lennie did not know his own strength. Another reason is If George did not kill Lennie others would have killed him. However, the other side might argue that Lennie did not mean to kill Curley’s wife, thus he deserves to live. George should have killed Lennie because Lennie did not know his own strength, that is the reason why he killed many things by accident and caused many problems. “Why do you got to get killed?
Curley used this as an excuse to kill Lennie. He really wanted to kill Lennie because he destroyed his hand though. Curley said he was going to blow Lennie's guts out and make him suffer and be in pain. George prevented this by shooting Lennie in the back of the head and ending him quickly. George killed lennie because if he didn’t, Curley would have made him suffer.
This is an act of mercy because Curley was going to slaughter Lennie by shooting him in the stomach and letting him die a sluggish and excruciating death. George decided it would be best for him to kill Lennie and not Curley; he made this disturbing decision out of love and compassion. I have confidence in that George made the right decision and sometimes the right choice isn't the most pleasurable choice. George knows that they can't run forever, eventually the police will find them and who's to say what will happen then. They might kill Lennie where he stands or take him to prison to deteriorate for the rest of his existence.
Another reason is the ranchers would’ve killed him no matter what so this way George ensured it was fast and painless. On the other hand, this was condemned because George had been saying how his life would be so much better without Lennie and this allowed him to be able to live that life. George's decision to kill Lennie was justified because Lennie was going to be killed no matter what. After all of the ranchers find out that Lennie killed Curley’s wife, Curley states that he is going to kill Lennie, "I'm gonna get him.
Killing another seems very unjustifiable, which might be the case but when someone takes another 's life and sent to prison, death row or capital punishment is needed to put that person were they belong. People like that deserve to die because of their mistake of killing another and it deters other people to not kill others, showing them what would happen. In the case of Capital Punishment, Hunting for Sport, or George and Lennie, killing is a justifiable act. In the case of capital punishment killing is justified and needs to be done. For example, “Some crimes are so inherently evil they demand strict penalties up to and including death”(McClatchy).
Also, if society does not sentence an offender to death, they are an accomplice to that crime (Avaliani, 2004). Criminals that kill should suffer the same fate as their victims. The punishment should,
