In America, the issue of gun control has become an extremely controversial topic. Ever since the formation of this great nation, guns have been key tools and restricting them any further would present incomprehensible consequences. Placing stricter gun laws on the current situation or banning assault weapons will not decrease the death or crime rate but in fact quite the opposite. The republican party believes that with fewer gun restrictions and revision of current standards, we can make America a safer place. The right to bear arms is a fundamental right of any American citizen and this right needs to be protected as the fundamental freedom it is.

Paul Barrett wrote about a discussion whether or not we should amend the second amendment. He used the words from a retired supreme court justice Paul Stevens to help justify the points on why we should amend it. The main points that came out are that the 2nd amendment was made for militias or the military to bear arms and didn’t let the federal government regulate weapons but only left it to the state governments. The right to bear arms is essentially not an unlimited one. As the country grows older the interpretation of the 2nd amendment changes as well.

The case was started in the U.S state of Arkansas when two male individuals Jack Miller and Frank Layton were traveling in a vehicle down interstate commerce and were abruptly stopped. They had a sawed off double barrel 12 gauge shotgun in their possession. With them being caught they were charged by a federal district court.

While Anti-Federalists were another group of citizens who were scared to have another king or a abusive government, basically did not support the Constitution.

There were times when things were rough for the people living as pilgrims in the old days. If it was hard rough times working for independence, the starting of their food, or the hardest, defending their homes. Since those times we have used weapons to protect the things we held dearly or fight for the things we wanted. Today I will be talking about one of the Amendments that I choose and it was the second amendment. The second amendment is “The Right To Keep and Bear Arms” I will give you three reasons on this to make you choose that there should be the second amendment. My reasons are self defense,hunting and practicing. Let 's start with my first reason Self Defense. What I mean by this is that you can defend yourself if you need to in a bad situation.

Should an american who has the right credentials have the right to bear arms? Should the be able to have a concealed weapon and or be able to open carry a rifle or other firearm? The answer is yes to both of these questions the average american who can take and pass a background check given by the government.
